Overall I liked that they tied the decks into the set; i think it was a good way to get more out of a set in commander for mechanics like Mutate and the like that would otherwise suffer. Flavor wise it is also really neat.
As for the overall reprints, they're not bad. They could stand to have a little more oomph. Happy to see things like Predator Ooze and Kessig Wolf run.
They definatly did better than 2019 “timeless wisdom” is by far the closest to what the years were before 2018
For everyone else I do have my best guess’s for what could be are chase card of this year commander decks (outside the Zendikar and commander legends decks)
I'm not super impressed by Fireflux Squad. My guess is that Zaxara will come out of this as, by a wide margine, the most popular card that isn't a free kill spell or counterspell from these decks. The Jeskai and Temur partners will fall shortly behind Zaxara in terms of deck popularity. Among other cards that I think will remain popular over time; Verge Rangers, Surly Badgersaur, Twinning Staff, Manascape Refractor, and Nesting Grounds. I'm not convinced on Netherborn Altar but I can understand why others are. But yeah top cards from this round will be Fierce Guardianship, Deadly Rollick, Zaxara, and Manascape Reflector.

I have to agree. It does feel good that the Commanders and the set are linked together. Generally, at least to me, sets usually mean that just a handful of new cards for Commander. A list that further gets filtered through a combo of interest and what decks you already have. But with them pulling double duty with Ikoria as a whole, it just feels like we're getting so much more to experiment with.
In addition, the flavor is really nice. Ikoria as a whole has the epic feel to it. The idea of running around and slaying huge, mutating beasts while partnering up a beast of your own just gets the blood pumping. I haven't felt so interested in a plane in a long time.

I'm tempted to agree. I've already heard rumbling around the net of people so happy to finally have a Hydra tribal commander with arguably the most powerful color combo. Honestly, if I didn't already have a Sultai commander I'd be tempted to pick of Zaxara myself.
I prefer Otrimi to Zaxara, but mostly because the idea of a Mutate deck seems fun, if not super viable.
I also wish Otrimi had a bit more synergy with Brokkos, Apex of Forever, but I’m guessing they did that on purpose.
Overall, I’m liking these decks a *lot* more than decks of the past years.
I’m not sure if that’s because it’s wedges, or that there are a full cycle of five,
but I’m sure neither hurts. Looking forward to Abzan and Sultai decks the most,
but all of them seem good.

See that's the thing. Otrimi seems interesting to me but I just don't know how viable Mutate really will be. I've kind a been on the lookout to see if I could find a Sultai commander to possibly replace Yarok. I like the commander and the deck I built but I just sometimes question if a more...engaging commander will come along that will peak my interest. Ya know? Thing is though, Yarok can be a lot of fun and requires me to really think while still being powerful. It's just that, he's such a simple Commander.
I'm a little scared that Otrimi will turn out like my venture with Volrath, which was the opposite. The card is fun and rather cool, but the mechanics of it made the deck felt hit or miss. Basically a reverse Yarok problem. Commander requires a bit strategy to properly utilize but the 'feel' of the deck suffers for it.
The decks certainly look rather well put together, especially when you compared last year and one whole deck, starring Sevinne, just being awful. They seem like each are fun to play and has the beginnings of good decks if you just feel like building off the base deck.

Well there’s more hits than that (Some are playable wise) (this might take a little bit)
Alright, while I can agree that I did forget to included Shared Animosity and a couple others I'm not going to call cards that are ~$2 "hits". As for Hornet Queen, the real winner is actually the token going down in price. I am surprised some of the prices of these cards, clearly I wasn't keeping track of a few as I am astounded seeing how much some of them went up.
The ones I mentioned that were excluded weren't exclusively based on price, but to fit more with the theme.

Although I am a bigger fan of Chippy's art for her, thank goodness they kept the art of Terese Nielson for Akroma, Angel of Wrath. For once, WOTC made the right decision there.

Yep why is it that people keep anticipating that’s $20ish reprints it’s the new cards that get those price tags later on
Because we've had a $20 card reprinted in Commander before (and yes it was between $20-$25 when reprinted in C14). It didn't make Daretti's deck more expensive than any other one. They don't have to shy away from great reprints.
Because we've had a $20 card reprinted in Commander before (and yes it was between $20-$25 when reprinted in C14).
Indeed. Hell before the announcement of the reprint the Locust God was pushing close to $20. It's not unreasonable to see a $20 card in each deck. My point about Cyc rift was that the card itself receives complaints from players. Right now it's sitting between $22 and $25. My guess is that's when it gets beyond the range that they're willing to do in a product like this. Those two things together, I think, preclude Cyc rift from showing up in commander precons. At least these days(it was in C14).

Dude wurmcoil was $8 during that time the scars versions price was on par with the locust god today
It’s more Scares and popular today
They don’t over kill $20 zone cards there’s usually atleast one per year besides 2018 and 2019

Indeed. Rift is one of those cards that's very good and quite a few people would buy if the price dropped a bit. Seeing it reprinted in a Commander product wouldn't be unheard of. There's also the fact that many people (myself included) have been asking for a reprint for years.
I'm honestly surprised that the thing hasn't seen a reprint in all these years at some point.

By MTGGoldfish's price history the Scars printing of Wurmcoil Engine in October of 2014(a month before release of C14) was in the neighborhood of $22. It was a marquee reprint in the set.

Again I did agree with you guys that people need to stop anticipating lots of $20 plus cards
My price was after it’s revealed there’s usually 1-3 cards that value per year in 1 or more decks
2018 is when chicken mode activate this year was the closet to what it was before more edh staples and around that number
But 2020 is the closet we got to what the years were before with Fluctuator and the locust god and far less cards you need to switch out in each deck (which one(s) people get anywayj

1: You said it was an $8 card. I'm just pointing out that that was factually wrong.
2: That's the opposite of my point. I think that nothing would be hurt if each deck had a $20 card. Hell a $20 card and a shock land just to keep the price on those sum*****es down. My statement about Cyc Rift is that between how disliked it is among many commander players and it's price tag which is now above $20 I don't forsee that one happening(even if it would have been a perfect fit for Arcane Maelstrom).
I still don't know what the exact hubbub is or was over Terese Nielsen, but apparently she was tuned into some rather dubious alt-right personalities on social media and a few aggressively left-leaning agitators caught on. She didn't actually say anything herself, from what I gather, and offered a rather contrite response to the larger community, but not before a lot of people swore off her art entirely.
Chick-Fil-A, on the other hand, actively donates (or has actively donated) money to anti-LGBTQ organizations, which has landed them in some hot water on the national scale.

Yes, it was $20, C14 came out after Khans of Tarkir, might want to take a look at the price then which was about $20. You'll notice how it went down to $13 after it was reprinted. I've been using Wurmcoil Engine as an example for Commander reprints for years and kept track of it way back then. I didn't even have to look it up, that's how much I've been using Wurmcoil Engine as an example.
Also, putting a reprint in Commander isn't going to "over kill" it. As we see here it didn't even reduce the price of the card by half and didn't stop it from hitting $30 at one time or being at ~$20 multiple times throughout its history.
They don't need to shove in random high price cards, but when a card is perfect for a deck it really should be in there. Take for example Decree of Silence, it was a perfect card for cycling, was about $5 before the deck lists were known and now it's $10+.

Reprints are a bit on the light side, seems like the most notable ones being The Locust God, Fluctuator, Nahiri, Etali, Propaganda, and that's about it. I am surprised by some exclusions (not because of price) like Endless One, Decree of Silence, Skullbriar, Gallows at Willow Hill, Traumatic Visions, Cyclonic Rift, Reiterate, and some others. My biggest pet peeve is Reflecting Pool not being reprinted again, I can't believe this hasn't been reprinted in a Commander set/deck yet, this is in addition to shock lands at; at this point I feel each deck should have one.
Well there’s more hits than that
Karametra, God of Harvests is one of the reprints as well
But yes could have Ben better stuff to include as well
