Well, not nearly as explosive (or in my mind, as exciting) as the Jeskai partners spoiled, but that's ok. Sultai has more than enough commander goodies and has already been given some more in this set.
I think I might want to put Ukkima in my Mimeoplasm deck. Seems like a really good target to be the base creature - unblockable, suit it up with a lot of +1/+1 counters from whatever fatty Mimeo exiles, it quickly threatens commander lethal and if they remove it I get a big life drain.
Of all the cards in this set already spoiled that are nightmares, I feel like Ukkima could have easily been one too. Cute though!

It's almost certainly something where, if there were room for a third type easily, they would put Nightmare, but Whale Wolf was the most important components, and they've already got the wedge cycle filling their need for incredibly tiny creature type lines.
Again, they're both good on their own like the WRU partners. Ukkima more than Cazur, as I find Cazur pretty basic. Like, he could have been a regular creature with slight stats edits and he isn't particularly interesting. I kinda wish the trigger granted either +1/+1 counter or one of a few ability counters or something. Though I suppose the green abilities would either be win more (trample) or counterintuitive with attacking (reach), so I can see why he wasn't designed that way.
Ukkima, though, is a great target for mutation as it can easily slip to the bottom of the pile to give you a bigger unblockable monster with a built-in rattlesnake defence. We haven't seen anything from UB aside from the companion monster, so we'll see if UB gets any additional tools to make a mutate deck happen on its own.
Feels kinda underwhelming, Ukkima's best feature is being a "leaves the battlefield" trigger, which has some potential for abuse but it's mostly there to allow you to drain people when it returns to the Command Zone. Of course, this would be relevant, if only the upside of draining a single player wasn't so underwhelming. It should be an "each opponent" ability to be worth building around. But if you don't, it's a pretty much just a Phantom Warrior and a good boy to carry Swords in a Voltron-styled strategy.
Which leaves us to Cazur, which is the opposite strategy-wise. In order to maximize its ability, you need to go wide to get as many +1/+1 counters as possible, possibly running multiple cheap evasive creatures ala Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow, instead of outfitting an unblockable creature with lots of stuff. So maybe I'm not seeing a way to conciliate both strategies, but it seems no matter how you build this duo, one of them will be the other's second fiddle.

I think don't think Cazur is even necessary. Ukkima would be a great target for Yuriko. It's already unblockable, so its a great ninjutsu target, and when it's bounced it deals 2 damage at a minimum. It's also a good Thassa, Deep-Dwelling target. It's not a dies trigger, its a leaves play trigger, so it works on exile, death, bounce/ninjutsu, blink, etc.

Yeah, he's a fine addition to some 99s, but I'm looking at the two partners as the helm of a deck. I really can see a deck running Ukkima in Yuriko's 99, but I can't see anyone running Yuriko in Ukkima's 99 without it just being a Yuriko deck but worse.

For sure, that makes sense. Yuriko is so incredibly strong, however, its hard to imagine a card they'd print that would be better than her for a lot of Dimir strategies; but I agree with what you're saying. She's incredibly pushed.
I swear I made a water/dark type pokemon that was a wolf/shark/dolphin
These are interesting since it plays into kinda a new space of wanting unblockable creatures and trample creatures matter, though I feel like they would work a lot of better in 99 instead of commanders. Speaking of the new parter with legends look really interesting to play with in the decks.

ok now the whale wolf was referenced
by why does it only have to be one counter when clearly more could have ben put on
i think this wolf needs to be Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow partner

whale wolf is hilarious.
however; i'm not too enthusiastic about what either of these do. at least i guess it promotes an aggro strategy?

It'd go great in my Sygg, River Cutthroat deck. All of the creatures in their have either Fear, cannot be blocked, Menace, Shadow, or Skulk. It's really just an evasive weenie card draw deck, abusing Inkfathom Witch, Larceny, and Coastal Piracy. Other random cards in the deck are Sphinx's Tutelage, Archfiend of Ifnir, Drake Haven, Faith of the Devoted, Smuggler's Copter, and Oona's Prowler (to enable more discards). I for one welcome the Wolf Whale.

I think an early cetacean would be Whale Hippo.
