Ironically, I have a Saskia deck where 80% of the creatures are legends so I leaned into that theme and Chevill can meet up with his bud Mathias there.
The fact that this card only gives you a single bounty at a time instead of one bounty per opponent... and that it gives your other opponents zero incentive to join you in the hunt... makes me sad.
Makes me want to expand my awkward counters deck to include green, as well. Lol. It was a Gwafa Hazid, Profiteer EDH deck. Then I added black for Athreos, Shroud-Veiled. Now I need to add Green for Chevill, Bane of Monsters. The commander will probably be Atraxa, Praetors' Voice, now. LOL. None of these counters do anything with duplicates. I need something like Bioshift for any type of counter. Please Wizards!
I think Mythic has a natural tension in it where we don't want the Mythics to actually be auto-includes (because $$$) but we do want them to be *special*. I feel like this, from a flavour and how that flavor is expressed fashion, is indeed special. And for the small percentage of players that care about him, they will care a lot and have access (wallet wise). Overall, I think that's fine. As long as there isn't some Jace, The Mind Sculptor situation where there's only one mythic that everyone needs to have.
And that is because of that one G symbol you can’t be put into Mathas, Fiend Seeker edh decks
Meanwhile, I'm here rejoicing from the extra layer of politics playing this against Mathas would lead to. Do you two work together for shared value, or try to steal each other's stuff?

That’s true but still a miss that they can’t be in the same deck
Yeah, considering there are only three cards that deal with bounty counters in the while game, it's a shame you can't put them all in the same deck headed by one of the two legends
This is fantastic in commander for sure
But they made a terrible mistake with this card

For me he seems the typical Arrogant Know-it-All That Dies a Karmic Death Near The End of Every Monster Movie archetype.
