Clash with the gods of Theros in this campaign sourcebook for the world’s great roleplaying game.
The world’s most popular roleplaying game meets the world’s most popular trading card game in this campaign sourcebook, detailing the Magic: The Gathering world of Theros for use in Dungeons & Dragons.
Legends walk the lands of Theros, a realm shaped by deities and the deeds of heroes. From the temples of omen-speaking oracles to the five realms of the Underworld, the champions of the gods vie for immortal favor and a place among the world’s living myths.
Choose a supernatural gift that sets you on the path of destiny, align yourself with one of Theros’s fifteen gods, then carve a tale of odysseys and ordeals across the domains of mortals, gods, and the dead.
What legends will you challenge—mighty heroes, inevitable prophecies, or titans imprisoned by the gods? Where will destiny and immortal schemes lead you? And what tales will you leave behind, celebrated in the pantheon of myths and writ among the eternal stars?
-Introducing supernatural gifts—abilities that set your character apart from the common throng. Mechanically similar to character races, each one gives your character a variety of traits.
-Select one of the new races for your character—such mythic peoples as the leonin or a satyr.
-New subclasses include the Bard’s College of Eloquence, masters of oratory; and the Paladin’s Oath of Heroism, an affirmation of destiny laid out for you by divine providence.
-Encounter mythic monsters, creatures whose power and renown are such that their names are truly living myths. More than simply legendary, these creatures have abilities that will create a challenge fit for the gods.
-Wield god-weapons, signature items of the gods that allow your character to stand apart from other heroes. These can be a gift from your deity or perhaps you boldly stole it from them in a bid for ultimate power.
While I personal wanted at least an Eldraine planeshift, I think Theros is an awesome world for a DnD campaign.

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.

Is it? I gave them extensive feedback about that in the survey for Theros. I feel like supporting Theros products is more likely to yield the delayed but possible novel.
I do hope we get a Theros Art Book. I’ve wanted one for Theros for so long. The art for Theros is my absolute favorite, especially in Theros beyond death.

They did make a novel, they just aren't releasing it (yet).

Good luck, I hope it works out for you and the novel gets released.
My friends bought me the Guildmaster's Guide to Ravnica for my bithday in december 2019 and that one is amazing. I also loved the original Ravnica trilogy and maybe someday, when we're all in retirement, the three of us'll find the time to get together and play some Ravnica D&D, maybe with my daughter too, if she'll be into pen and paper when she's in her thirties. '^^
Eldraine would actually be like a 1000x better. Or even a Homelands one.
eldraine is already like every dnd setting ever that doesn't take place in a city.
i really like the idea of a campaign on theros. the whole gods being present thing can lead to a lot of fun shenanigans, so can escaping from the underworld or heading off into nyx.
i would actually play dnd again if they ever released supplements for campaigns on ulgrotha or sarpadia. no hesitation.
After the ravnica one i have to say, i really want to see what new information they will give, and hope there is a map for theros, nyx and the underworld as well as more information on the plane and some of its magic and characteriscs of the planes(Theros+Nyx+Underworld)(like the process of creating the returned, and a confirmation about people that transpass the underworld avoiding becoming a returned) and maybe more information about the gods (like, for exemple Heliod: How many cities he destroyed, how many champions he have and how he choose those).
Hope they make a D&D miniature set for it aswell i would apreciate a Therosian Hydra in my collection.
Eldraine would actually be like a 1000x better. Or even a Homelands one.
Homelands already exists, its called playing "Curse of Strahd", or taking the Plane Shift Innistrad book and adapting it to the prior.
Homelands has lots of things, not just "Sengir Family vs Poor Humans" there are regions without mana (close to Zendikar's Wastes but maybe worse), there is a Dwarven city that held treasures (and even a planar portal), Dwarves that hate vampires, Tolarian Academy 0.4, belivers of Serra, a powerfull Maro sorcerer, a immortal bandit that becomed the "goblin king", a minotaur tribe that practices shamanism, etc etc etc
Ulgrotha is just another plane missrepresented by a bad magic set
Eldraine would actually be like a 1000x better. Or even a Homelands one.
While I get your not a fan of Theros (and I'm guessing Greek myth related stuff), Theros is one of the more popular worlds and as Theros as a greek setting brings is I don't believe DnD has/done much of in a cohesive setting.
Yes, a big draw for the guild master guide was a map of the main city/the ten districts that hadn't been seen before. I would except a map of Theros of some kind to appear based on that.

If they had gone ARTHURIAN LEGENDS/fairy tales instead of arthurian legends/FAIRY TALES, I would agree with you. As is, meh. Eldraine was a big miss for me personally. I was HYPED about an Arthurian set and what I got was basically Shrek. Very disappointed, honestly. At least Oko was cool.

We don't actually get much Fairy Tale stuff in DnD/Pathfinder. Theres the odd monster, but not really enough to a 'proper' Fairy tale campaign nor something Arthurian fused with fairy tales. On the other hand, practically everything Greek-related is in normal DnD anyway, and Theros has nothing unique to it.
Feels a little underwhelming because there will only be 2 subclasses and 2 races, but i'm happy to see that magic get more support.
I hope that we will get a planeshift for Ikoria

-There will be map, some focused on the gods with a temple of Atheros that is split into two parts by the river with one half being on the mortal shore and the other side in the underworld.
-Forge and Grave domains cleric subclasses are being featured as well for cleric of Purphrose, Erebos and Atheros.
-A devotion mechanic that rewards/restricts you for following a god.
-The supernatural gifts are
“Everyone gets this extra leg up that is a gift of the gods, which is separate from the usual character background. It may be a magical thing about your nature, such as you have the mind of a sphinx and your thoughts can’t be read. Or you might be an oracle, which is an opportunity for your Dungeon Master to give you plenty of adventure hooks. It’s a straight power-up but not a huge power-up,” Wyatt reveals.
-The featured races are humans, minotaurs (which will be re-printed from Ravnica), Centaurs (ravnica reprint), merfolk (triton reprint from Volo’s Guide) and the new races of leonin and satyrs. Shame no gorgon/medusa imo.
-Leonin seems to be more strength based as guessed and satyrs are good with dexterity and charisma and are great bards.
-Mythic monsters are comparable to boss fights. Arasta of the Endless Web will show up as one.
Eldraine would actually be like a 1000x better. Or even a Homelands one.

They talked about how with Eldraine the structure of the world building was mostly based on the Arthurian side with courts, knights, quest ect with the fairy tale elements being sprinkled in as the things the knight fought against (the novel was similar with it feeling). Reversed happened with the card set in part with the fairy tale elements being more of the focus due to having more top down ideas than the Arthur side (as well as the arthur stuff being used in general fantasy anyways). So a DnD eldraine book might still work for you since a campaign setting would let you focus more on the arthur stuff.

The Theros mechanics seem super cool! Love the idea of incorporating devotion!
I think Ravnica might have been a better home for a Gorgon race than Theros (where gorgons feel more like villains/monsters than heroes).
Excited to have a new feline race that are markedly different than Tabaxi! Satyrs sound fun!
Mythic monsters sound juicy. Eager to see how they pull that off!
As for Eldraine, I would have LOVED the set if it focused more on Arthurian stuff. I was so hyped for it when it was announced and then totally displeased once the cards came out. I feel like there is an amazing setting in Eldraine, we just never got to see it because the set was littered with Shrek-style fairy tale cards that, to me, felt like annoying popup ads on a website I otherwise like.
I hope they do a real Eldraine setting book, or even a planeshift PDF.

Oh I agree they should have been in Ravnica too, but Theros gorgons can be good/heroic, Elspeth was healed by gorgon clerics of Pharika. Anywhere else than Ravnica and Theros they tend to fall more into the villains/monster role.

Hope they do a Miniature set for Theros especialy because they aparently did grid maps for the temples/shrines. I would really apreciate some greek themed heroes minis and some odd stuff like maybe Arasta oteW, hydras, elemental giants and cyclops. (then i would have fun with the ddm guild stats cards as well)

I'll get the items, character options, and monsters on D&D Beyond. But I think I know enough about Theros that I don't need the book to tell me how to DM a game there. I am looking forward to it though.

Yeah but honestly i already have Xanathar and Ravnica guides, so...
However, if release like this continue to happen, i can just make my fully fledged planeswalking campaign through the multiverse!
