Thassa, Deep-Dwelling 3U
Legendary Enchantment Creature - God Mythic Rare
Indestructible
As long as your devotion to blue is less than five, Thassa isn't a creature.
At the beginning of your end step, exile up to one Target creature you control, then return that card to the battlefield under your control.
{3U}: Tap another target creature.
6/5
Is this one of the first abilities that lets you exile a creature you don't own (say that you stole with Mass Manipulation) and return it to your control?
The tap ability isn't particularly efficient but it will be useful in a pinch or if you've got nothing much to do, and that flicker ability could do some work if there's enough good ETBs in monoblue. Curves into Cavalier of Gales.

So, basically, a beefy Soulherder that returns the permanent under your control. It's fine, just annoyed that this design is perfectly fine for mono-White but instead we got Lifegain Legend #37.
EDIT: Wait a second oh crud she can do the same trick with cloudshift which is you can act of treason a creature than flicker with thassa and you own it permanently
Yeah, I would put Thassa pretty high on the list. Like Heliod > Thassa > Nylea > Purphuros > Erebos. An indestructible Soulherder is really quite good, even at 4 mana, because most of your best ETB abilities will be on 3 cmc cards. So you basically get value the turn she comes down at no additional mana cost. Her tap ability can play offense or defense. Solid card.
Can't compare to her old card but that was expected.
Since this is the final of the monocolored gods imo it is
Purphoros > heliod > nylea > thassa > erebos
I can agree with that. Heliod May be #1 in some circumstances though.

My favorite artwork of Thassa. Beautiful, elegant, a touch melancholy, as if introspective. I really admire this piece. The sea storms add a lot of dynamic energy to the scene.
The design. I’m disappointed to see her at 4 mana instead of 3 in blue which I imagine has more difficulty committing to permanents for devotion. I had hoped she’d be a 5/5 for 3 again. I admired her symmetrical stats last time. The activated ability being redundant with Thassa’s Ire last time is rather uninspired but has proved useful. Might not be such a bad effect to have multiples of after all.
I think this version is tame relative to her original and a bit weaker relative to Purphoros or Heliod this time. I’d say she and Nylea might be comparable in how they interact with creatures. I think the extra 1 to cast toned her down a bit more than I would like, but I’ll just curve into her for commander.
The constellation art depicts her with a Bident, but she isn’t carrying a new one in her main art? Do we have lore on her at all?
The Ghostly Flicker/Turn to Mist ability is probably the more useful and will be used in some weird control decks that care about ETB/LTB effects. The tapping down ability is, well, gravy if you need it.

Called it on her name
The showcase art is depicting the gods' constellations which were presumably set in the sky long ago. Kind of a snapshot of the gods at their best, so that's why Thassa would still have her bident in her constellation. They won't change like the actual gods can when devotion changes them or they lose items. Hopefully we get more info on her new spearlike weapon.

I did consider that possibility as well, good point. I like how you explained it. I would like more information on her new spear and on her overall as well. I wonder if she has a blurb like Erebos and Heliod? I know Nylea and Purphoros didn’t sadly

The new Alirios, Enraptured is also great with her.
I was just thinking this is probably an auto-include in those pesky agent of treachery decks.
My favorite is the interaction with the new Purphoros, Bronze-Blooded
I think the tap ability was unnecessary and is over costed. Couldve been almost anything else
Many thanks to DNC at Heroes of the Plane Studios
