I am moderately excited by this.
I have bought one of the pre-cons (the one with K'rrik) for re-sale purposes.
The draft set will either need to include Mana Crypt, Mana Vault/Mana Drain or at the very least Sol Ring.
No other real opinion until spoilers start, that's when I know whether I will be getting this or more Pioneer staples.

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).
Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.
I can't wait to see what they did for a set of commander. Great way to knock out a bunch of requested characters as well since no hard theme or color balancing needs. I hope to see partner (with).
This should be where they put arcane signet reprint.

1: sets getting commander precons doesn’t mean we won’t also see brawl ones associated with that set.
2: the precons releasing alongside Ikoria ARE our yearly commander precons. They just have thematic ties to Ikoria. We aren’t losing the yearly precon set. We’re just going back to five decks.

i didn't say the brawl decks aren't happening they are just switching it up to commander rather than brawl for those sets
besides they didn't say anything about theros so those will probably be brawl decks
Soo commander 20 is gonna be 9 decks?
Do you member when they did 5 decks a year?
I member
Do you member when they did 4 decks a year?
I member I member
Do you member when they did no deck at all?
I member at least there will be 9 now but sucks to try to finish a full set
For anyone who didn’t watch the video, the Ikiora commander decks will have a total of about 70 new cards between them, the zendikar decks will only have 3 per deck (which seems small?), and the commander set will have 20 cards per pack with one foil card per pack... which likely spells out some pretty high prices.
Kind of upset that the new commander cards will likely carry some unkind prices.
The higher number of new cards with the Ikiora deck is interesting. It will let wizards actually print a larger number of on-theme cards for each deck... which potentially opens a ton of design space. Unlike previous years where the themes chosen had to be pretty supported to start with (as you’d only get 2-4 new on-theme cards), wizards could potentially choose a theme or tribe with almost no support and print a dozen new cards to add consistency. Tethering the decks to the theme of a specific set is a bit restrictive (even though the set in question seems to match the “battlecruiser” mentality of EDH) but I’m tentatively optimistic.

The theme is Ikoria
So if tribal deck is one of them (which is very likely) it’s forced to kaiju or whatever type they make and probably give the errata wave cards the typing for the deck
Am I the only one who's worried about the 70+ brand new legends? Commander products in the past had 16~20 new legends each year, they're literally putting three plus years worth of ideas into this one, and that's not counting the Commander Legend decks. And if they continue with this trend, well of creativity will run dry quickly.
With 70 new legends we better get a legendary Kavu. Also, I hope they reprint Idyllic tutor. It’s just silly that it cost more money than Demonic Tutor.

All I care is I can finally have Jeska PW!!!!
I wonder Jeska would be in Jeskai color hmmm
I doubt it. She's gonna be either monored or BR. The latter would be better IMO 'cause Jeska retained the decaying powers she'd had as Phage the Untouchable after her ascension, and it was stated in the Future Sight novel that she considered both Jeska and Phage as parts of herself (but not Karona).
My sentiment exactly. The new art is not bad, but I really preferred the original this time (unlike Serra the Benevolent, whose reimagined look is just supreme).
My all-time favorite depiction of Jeska has to be this fan art by fellow MTGS user merkymerx though:
I wish I could get a Jeska card with that artwork...
THEY DID IT!!! A SUPPLAMENT SET THATS FOCUSED ON COMMANDER!!!
And Ikoria and Zendikar are getting commander decks not brawl
Question is does this retire annual commander decks (no 2020)
Edit: oh the 5 ikoria decks is commander 2020 shame no older lore characters will pop up in those atleast the draft set will handle that

It is however a massive step in the right direction, and allows them to explore commanderiness more than they have in precons
one will be a new and improved Baron Sengir
and the other is jeska which is Phage the Untouchable before she became that

I love it.
The 5 coming with Ikoria are the annual commander set, just moved up and back to 5 decks.
This is one of the major things I want to see here.
