Pegasus and Medusa (well, not in MTG, but in many other media) welcome Typhon to the club.
There's a difference, I think. For one both of those have been made generic by culture for years. Secondly there are myths where Medusa isn't the only gorgon. Typhon, however is a different matter. It's not something that culture has made generic. It's not even something a lot of people would know about off hand. Typhon is a cataclysmic creature, father to monsters. To make Typhon into a kind of creature rather than a specific one is an odd choice. Notably I'm not complaining. Just an observation.
I noticed that and felt the same as well. To be fair, Triton was Poseidon’s son and instead of being a legendary creature it’s the name of the Theros race of Merfolk. Still, I’d prefer if it were a legendary hydra or dragon, instead.

I really hope they do at least one vanilla black cheap creature with an alternative escape cost.. something like CMC 1, 2/1, and the escape cost as "discard two cards, exile two other cards".
They've never even printed a B 2/1 without a downside, and you expect they'll suddenly print one with an huge upside and no downside?
Going all the way back to page 1...who buys their MtG products at a Walgreen's? Just curious. I am certain some do but I would not have thought to look there for it.

Doesn’t matter because it’s a misdirection. They can’t sell those yet because the boxes would be marked with ‘Do not stock until dd/mm/yy’.
More than likely they do work at a place that has the boosters in holding and had them ring up current product and then when to the back and got these boosters instead. It’s vague legal loophole abuse since the store isn’t selling these yet they essentially already compensated the store for future missing product.

When I lived in a small *****ty town in rural Georgia I bought from Walgreens. I got my only Masterpiece from a Walgreens Oath of the Gatewatch pack.
Also, Tiro, from those flavor texts I think the Callapheia is the Theros version of The Odyssey. Which is neat.

grandparents or parents and casuals mostly
my guess is this was meant to be revealed another way like these are meant to pop up in the mystery packs or something

Yes! It makes sense that The Theriad is The Iliad and The Odyssey is represented by The Callephia. I always took Callaphe to be the Jason trope, but she appears to be more Odysseus. I wonder if it’s the Thassa champion version of it told by Merfolk. Many myths speak of Callaphe stealing from gods and tossing their trinkets over the Waterfall at edge of the world, or sailing into Nyx, or dueling Thassa. Makes you wonder if Callaphe is many different people, but the true Callaphe herself was actually devoted to Thassa, since Thassa claimed she was when fighting Kiora, which conflicted with all the different myths about her from Godsend. I always thought it was propaganda for devotion, we’ll just have to see.
Yes, I really want a Callaphe card. And I hope we get some Arixmethes references on a saga depicting the sinking of the city, a land, flavor text or art.... or something.
And yes I do love Greek mythology and Greece! I’ll have to check that out. I absolutely adore Theros and from what I’m seeing here this is yet another slam dunk, even better than the original with sagas and more enchantment focus. Omen of the Sea alone will find itself in all my decks
The -3 being weak makes a lot of sense. The -1 and -2 are great in aggro, and the -2 is also great in control. You can't kill her using only the -2 as a nerf to her in control decks, so you have to either -2, -2, -2 or -2, -3 before recasiting. If you have the mana and cards in graveyard. going -3 recast, -2 in the same turn seems quite strong. In aggro not having to recast as much improves the card, and with how strong planeswalkers are in control setups, a buff to aggro makes sense on her.

Oooooh an Arixmethese Saga that like makes a land into an island on 1, bounces all creatures or maybe non-land permanents if they want to push it on 2, and then High Tides on 3 would be awesome and pretty thematic.
I love what I see so far from how they're handling the enchantment theme. We've got your usual seal-type enchantments e.g. Omen of the Dead, but also the sagas, interesting static/triggered ability enchantment creatures at low rarities, vanilla enchantment creatures, auras with strong ETB effects e.g. Iroas's Blessing, and some static/triggered enchantments with spell-like effects e.g. Treacherous Blessing. A bunch of different clever diverse designs to make enchantment decks interesting. And constellation now on non-enchantment creatures.
I like.

This is correct, as in the original Greek mythologies, Gorgon specifically referred to 3 sisters, of which Medusa is the most famous because she has been used in many books, shows, and movies. Gorgon
For Klothys remember that Ashiok created a god last time he/she/it was in Theros soo it is possible that if this Klothys thing is a god it can be ashiok's doing.

Was ashiok actually in war of the spark? I know they gave them a card, but I can't remember if they were at all involved in the story. Did they just come right on back to theros to finish whatever evil nightmare plan they've got going or what?

I was thinking the first chapter would tutor a kraken and put it on top of the library, second whelming waves and the third puts a kraken into play from hand a la Quest for Ula’s Temple. Would be so sick! The art could depict the city itself sinking
I just want to know how can you get 5 (five) basic lands, conveniently of each color, on 3 (three) boosters.
Where was it said that they only opened three packs? If you saw something like this wouldn’t you buy all of it up if you could? I sure as hell would. Although I probably wouldn’t leak them.
They likely posted the three packs to display the different packaging art. There are four rares and a mythic shown. Of course they opened more than three packs.
I’m really hyped for the Booster Fun/Masterpiece cards of the set being Greek frescoes. If Elspeth’s treatment is applied to other cards, it’ll be a cool touch.
