Maybe this pushes out Kari Zev's Expertise in non-blue Cascade Living End decks as the inevitability 1-of? It not only lets you cast Living End immediately from hand, it also turbo-charges your Plan B by letting you cast 2 creatures per turn instead of 1 (because Living End's creatures are that expensive in practice).
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
That means very little, you're not going to win a lot of games by casting only two spells per turn cycle
I'm not convinced that this card is good in EDH, and in Modern it seems questionable at best
Nope not good reason true there’s those problems and probably not back break but did you remember there’s thousands among thousand of tricks to exploit/abuse the cons for example
You could flickerwisp or bounce to hand like effects and you can keep going till it comes back or you can sac it and get it back later with recursion
Heck at 10 lands (gotten quickly for certain decks) cast Omniscience for free then sac this and then your good to go
You can:
T1 Land, search for tomorrow (or not, see below)
T2 Land, farsrek/Sakura/farseek
T3 Land, cast fires. If you have played search, you can't cast any more spell this turn. If you didn't, cast another ramp spell.
T4 land, Cast primeval titan, cast scapeshift, win
Or
T4 land, Titan, Titan, win.
Don't know if it is better than prismatic omens, for example, but seems a nice alternative. You could even free Titan, free woodfall Primus, break this enchant, pact and cast another Titan for 6. That's 14 Mana generated by a single enchantment at the cost of 4

None of those hoops are worth jumping through in order to exploit this card, especially in EDH
If you Flickerwisp this card then you can't cast your spells for free anymore so what's even the point
If you're rapidly accelerating into a ton of lands then you get to the point where you can just hardcast the spells that you want to cheat into play, making this card win-more
The best application I can see for Fires of Invention is just like zirzhas said, in a Titanshift build

I think the trick to Fires of Invention is to find a useful way to spend your mana when you have this on the battlefield. If you do you essentially triple the amount of mana you have available. Kicker has be mentioned, cycling is another possibility, activated abilities like that on Vivien's Arkbow is a standard legal option.
