I've had good success with the BRG decklist (6-1) being paired against only WUB and WRB decks.
Interesting games, nice decisions to make, some fun interactions/synergies and even some very powerful plays and cards.
A very good experience.
I will for sure play some more matches even if I have already won all possible rewards of this event.
The consensus I keep seeing about this event is that it was very fun.
Was the mistake trying to make Brawl a multiplayer casual format instead of a 1v1 competitive gateway drug to Standard? It seems so for me.

I think it can play both roles depending on how you want to play and who you want to play with.

Well brawl had some 1v1 tournaments but ye wotc tried to make it the casual commander standard. As it will take a while to implement multiplayer I guess we will be playing 1v1 brawl once eldraine releases.
i find brawl more competitive than regular commander, but mostly because EDH is just singleton Legacy/Vintage, which basically means its a very combo oriented format with very little interaction at its core. Brawl (without Baral) feels a bit better than that, although i would say this event did not showcase the depth of play very well because of how overwhelmingly good the esper commander was. Chulane and Jund Dragon probably have a decent chance of being super good, but i wouldnt touch Knights unless Golos was the commander. That Knight commander is just completely awful at 6. needed to be 5 cmc or less to even look competitive.

That esper deck is very glass-cannony. I’ve played with both the Mardu and Jund decks, and while not quite as explosive early, a well timed wrath or removal completely crippled my opponent even when they had the upper hand for most of the game. Most players aren’t willing to ride out the storm, which is how we’ve gotten the “Esper is to good” narrative here. One thing is for certain, though, and it seems the Eaper deck is the most popular. I played about 6 or 7 games last night, 5 were against the esper deck.
All four decks are inconsistent.. I find hard to tell which one is good or not or if they are balanced.
But all in all I find Gwyn slightly worse then the other three. Decks in those colors really need more spot removal because they cant compete with green and blue decks in terms of value.
Tome of Legends is one of the best card-drawing artifacts Commander could have ever asked for.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
What better card drawing artifact currently exists?

I honestly really disliked this event and I agree with these comments. I enjoyed the Esper deck due to the wraths (which were the key to winning a lot of games) but it always felt like a lot of the time it was whoever got their commander down first wins. Chulane was the most aggravating because of Frilled Mystic and Meteor Golem. I wouldn't expect these to be that powerful in "normal" games but because the removal in these decks is so terrible, if they can start getting these loops, it is very difficult to stop. And of course, being Arena and a free event, there isn't much incentive to actually complete a game where it feels like you are losing. Even if I could win, I would rather just scoop and go to the next game.
I am excited for Brawl on Arena overall. I think EDH is the best format and Brawl at least gets close to that in Arena so I think I can hold me over. But I will like it a lot better when I get to build my own decks around generals rather than using the pre-constructed lists.

Thats pretty much the biggest flaw of the "free" events on Arena.
People play and the first Wrath effect that destroys their board, they just leave.
If you want to win very easy, you just play a deck with some Wrath and people run away in frustration.

There should be a reward for staying in a game and finishing it. Winning a game in the first like 5 turns because its a complete non-game isnt any more interesting than a game that is stretched artificially.
How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
You are correct. In the Brawl decklist announcement, they made these comments:
That said, another thing about MTG Arena is that currently there is no multiplayer functionality. And, as Melissa noted above, some of the new Brawl cards were made with multiplayer in mind. So, as a result, there were four new cards that got trimmed from the MTG Arena version to make way for cards that played better in one-on-one.
Since you won't see them in MTG Arena, let's take a peek at them now. These cards will be in the decks you'll be able to find in stores, starting when Throne of Eldraine releases.
In the "Savage Hunter" deck, rather than Izoni, Thousand-Eyed and Mask of Immolation, you'll find these two new cards perfect for multiplayer games with that Jund sacrifice deck:
Well, i think a little unfair that the knight deck lost its finishers while Chulane and Alela kept them, but at least Tajic is a good card

And now they dont even have the redemption cards in the pre cons. so not only are these too expensive but now they arent even connected to the format WOTC says they want to save. so good job killing it!

I would agree if it was “remove any number of page counters draw that many cards” instead

Wouldn’t it have been a bit more unfair for those decks to retain those cards, considering they are completely nerfed in 1v1?
