Do not really like this over-specilized kind of commander but the UWR one is good for that colors.
Also BUG one tickle my brain.
There's many red in this set!
I really wish Madness had been grixis and i am probably gonna dissect it and run Kess, Dissident mage as the general. Adding blue however does give me access to more looters like the famous Merfolk looter
The only issue I have with Ghired as that populate is only one target. take said he can (By himself) be a threat. (get that rhino army going) He also has access to white and green meaning those token doubles come in handy.
Kadena And Sevinne are less appealing to me. I will see what their deck contain, but overall, i am not jumping to grab them. (It might end up being like Vampires, in which i bought the deck just for Teferi's Protection.)
Sevinne: Simple, but effective. Obviously meant to work with Flashback, but works with Retrace just as well. What's more exciting about Sevinne is colors - A Graveyard-oriented Commander without G nor B? Yes, it's a bit narrow, but still, kudos for opening up the possibilities. Shame it's kind of nonbo with Flashbacked Past in Flames.
Anje Falkenrath: Called it! Anyway, seems like a powerful card, but very boring. I was expecting them to tap more into "discard matters" in general but this is as linear as it can get. Enabling every Madness card in your hand at no cost and giving you ability to essentially "storm off" for as long as you have the mana seems like some really powerful stuff, and the fact that she has Haste makes it even better... but still, BORING.
Kadena: Not a terribly exciting card either, but I like it. Of course, that could also be because I'm a huge sucker for both Morph and Nagas. I definitely like the cost reduction effect, reducing costs of the first spell you cast is something we don't see everyday, and the second effect does what's supposed to do with Morph and Manifest but, once again, it seems WotC played it kinda safe here. Also, pretty insane with Ghastly Conscription.
Ghired: Hah! Okay, that "populate as attacker" thing actually got me good, that's some super clever design right there. I'm not usually the fan of the "big stompy" Commanders, but I'll be honest, Ghired seeems spicy. Honestly, the only thing I don't like about it is how it already enters with one of the best body sizes for Populating you could get. Yeah, you could play stuff like Advent of the Wurm, but is it really worth it just for that 1 extra P/T? Making any Token below a 5/5 Flying Dragon feels like a waste when you could just get more Rhinos.

Well there are better tokens like the 4/4 flying vigilance Angels, the 3/3 Deathtouch/lifelink from Wurmcoil Engine. You can get the wurm token from Sandwurm Convergence which has an awesome defensive effect in addition to one free token every round. The avatar token from Ajani Goldmane. Some tokens from the embalm mechanic like Angel of Sanctions or the token from Voice of Resurgence. The tokens from Crested Sunmare could be interesting, too. And all possible tokens Helm of the Host could provide you. Like multiple Ghireds.
Edit: How does Myriad work with Ghireds attack trigger? Are both effects triggered at the same time and you use how to stack them? Would you be able to keep a token if you copy one of the myriad tokens?
These feel... kinda mediocre. Theyre going to have to add a lot of playable support to these mechanics is the real issue. There might be cards with madness, or flashback, but are there enough to build a good deck around? How about diversity in approach? Are these all going to end up as exactly the same 100 card crap piles? Time will tell but right now signs point to yes.

None of these have inspired me to build... yet.
We still have two more Commanders for each deck to be spoiled, my friend. Wizards Normally does 1-2 alternate Commanders (last year had 2). I would imagine some of the alternate ones are pretty spicy. They usually don't tie into the main theme as much. Now given that these "mechanic" themed decks might need the extra support, I could see them adding a second commander that does care about the theme of the deck. Maybe a Manifest Sultai Commander? Or a Hellbent Rakdos Commander?

One of them is a new and improved gerrard
I think volrath might be another for the morph deck
Ghired is definitely a worse card as the general for tokens than trostani, selesnya's voice since it has to attack and doesn't have the option to sit back. Pretty disappointing the morph deck isn't temur. The madness and flashback ones are pretty cool though
So my group kinda called Naya populate (and a former Selesnya turned Gruul shaman is cool!) and Jeskai flashback, with BR Madness a given. Sultai morph was def unexpected, but cool, as most thought either Temur or 5C.
I do like that Sevinne survives Earthquakes and Wildfire effects, kinda excited by them. And by Ghired. I'll wait and see what the side legends are before committing to either.
Since we're likely to get Gerrard, we could see a new Volrath in the BR deck. I'm still hoping for a new Ixidor in the morph deck, fingers crossed!

i was the one who asked this to maro
he said volrath is dimir sp tje morph deck is the only option which can still happen since hes a shapeshifter and would fit the theme of morph
I’m really not feeling it this year. As a vorthos I could care less about mechanics, and these commanders really are ultra specialized. It’s fine though, last year was amazing for me and I’ve had a lot of cards for my decks get released recently. So I could use a break and for others to get what they want. I do want the new Gerrard but I suspect I won’t be intrigued until Throne of Eldraine
I really hope the populate deck has a legendary Kavu, like how last year the Esper deck gave us a Ninja Commander. We got all these legendaries in Dominaria and a Bear Commander in Modern Horizons, yet we still don’t have any legendary Kavus.

I can foresee some new tribal legends in each
Madness - vampires ofcoarse
Populate - wolf/werewolves (no dfc just give werewolf support) or more dinosaurs (actually more dinosaurs will happen since they make big tokens like Gavin said the deck would focus on and one year later gishath is the most built naya deck)
flashback - wizard or human
Morph snake/naga (better snake tribal legend that can throw in nagas)
Sevinne is definitely the most open-ended one here, which makes him my favorite (Intuition for major trolling).
However, none of the new face commanders evokes me to build new decks. This has been the case since 2017, the side commanders turn out to be much more intriguing. I guess they are indeed making the face commander straightforward and boring, while letting the side-commanders be the creative ones.

Manifest Sultai doesn't makes much sense since there aren't many playable Manifest cards and both Aminatou (for topdeck manipulation purposes) and Kadena herself (for face-down cards matters) fill in the niche. My guess for secondary commander in Kadena is either Colorless matters Commander or Naga Tribal.
Hellbent Rakdos Commander seems fun. Hellbent has little representation on its own, but Heckbent complements it well and it's a mechanic that could see more support. Just straight-up "discard matters" (akin to Glint-Horn Buccaneer) would be fine as well.
Not entirely sure what could be done with Sevinne and Ghired though. Sevinne's secondary Commander could be another spellslinger Commander while Ghired could be another "go-wide Aggro Commander", but I sure hope not. Exile matters would be a super fun secondary theme for Sevinne, but I doubt WotC would be willing to open that can of worms.

For the 2nd year in a row I'm wondering if the $140-$160 for the 4 boxes would be better used on singles. Last year I bought 2 playsets of a rare card for $8. That card was listed at $1/ea initially, like within 10 min of the listing - and by the end of the next day was at $12 ea elsewhere. 12x multiplier in 24hrs. A lot of money can be saved if you can snatch up stuff in the initial hours of singles going on sale.. Regarding your first two sentences, I'm agreeing with your sentiment completely. Feels like another very focused batch of product is coming. After seeing 3 of 4 of the flagship commanders already, I'm not seeing much that compels me as a brewer. I hope there's a backup 3-color legend in each box, that are each a bit less focused than the flagships, to replace what we're seeing as the first options. I don't expect it, but a person can hope!
