Says mountain, not basic mountain! So shocks, btz lands and amonkhet lands are up for this guy.

So, as an italian speaker, i guess that "alpine" is generic term in english and doesn't refer specifically to Alps.

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
This is interesting design space for red, another form of temporary ramp besides rituals. Funnily enough, I actually designed a similar card a few months back that instead acts as temporary land destruction:
Goblin Squatter1RR Creature - Goblin
When Goblin Squatter enters the battlefield, exile target land until Goblin Squatter leaves the battlefield.
Goblin Squatter attacks each turn if able.
2/1
Reads the first sentence, brain goes "red land ramp!!!".
Reads the last paragraph, brain goes "stink".
It is red ramp though, while it lives. Which most creature based ramp has always been. Your Llanowar Elves provides you with one extra mana per turn while it lives but when it dies you stop getting that. Sisters of the Flame, same deal.
Now this must-attack clause is likely to bring its death sooner rather than later. But on the other hand you are getting an attacker along with the ramp - with most ramp creature you’d have to choose one or the other.
And last, the mountain you sac doesn’t have to be the one it fetched. It can be an upgrade - your fetch could be for a sacred foundry then you sac a basic mountain. Your fetch in limited can go get your drafted snow mountain and then the sac can turf a nonsnow one.
I had been thinking that Champion hadn't been used as a mechanic yet (that I've seen) and we might see something like 'Champion A Land'. This is kind of the reverse of that.
Sadly its not a die trigger so bouncing and exiling while you still have doesnt really work.
I think they mean in conjunction: Bazaar Trader him away, then flicker him. Your opponent has to sac a mountain (if they have one, saneatali suggested Blood Moon) and when he comes back into play it will be under your control so you go get another mountain.
Well if only we had a dunes of the dead that was a montain, or a variant that "when ~is put into a graveyard from the battlefield, deals 2 damage to any target" with the typeline montain.... .... .... wonder if we have this luck in 2020.
How has no one mentioned the death trigger being a mechanical representation of an avalanche (RIP red mana dork guy). The flavor of this card is pretty great. I would have liked to see mountainwalk in here somewhere just to go with the mountain guide theme and really drive it home but this is still good. It conveys the story very neatly in one card.
As for playability, there are very cute things you can do with this like trigger landfall. Playing him, or copying an existing copy, can trigger lotus cobra for extra ramp.
Pretty sure if you sac with the ETB on the stack with no mountains in play you don't have to sac anything and then you can go pull one of your mountains out of your deck. That's spicy.

I definitely think counting this guy out just off the last line of text is a bit premature too.

Sigh. Into the chaff pile you go!
