This looks too real to be possibly a fake; in nearly every way I’ve seen people here dismiss cards as being fake in the past —this has every base covered.
What interests me is this only gives us four multicolored/hyrid mana slots left. And seeing how we only have Boros Slivers revealed, we might be looking at another Sliver hive that’s asymmetric color-wise. At least in multicolored cards.
I’m going to guess real, we have room for black green rare and this would slot nicely into the dual colored cycle. The number even makes sense (from what I can see with it).
Why was the hologram at the bottom of the card blacked over?
there was a thumb in there and for somereasson they photoshoped the image to erase the thumb, i posted the original image with more leaks in post 20 of this thread i think.
Hogaak, Arisen Necropolis5(B/G)(B/G)
Legendary Creature - Avatar (Rare)
You can't spend mana to cast this spell.
Convoke, delve (Each creature you tap while casting this spell pays for 1 or one mana of that creature's color. Each card you exile from your graveyard pays for 1.)
You may cast Hogaak, Arisen Necropolis from your graveyard.
Trample
8/8
So... with Altar of Dementia, you could play a deck with stitcher's supplier, bridge from below, and the like, cast this fairly early, sac it to mill yourself 8, hopefully grab some bridge triggers, rinse and repeat, get a ton of zombies, mill opponent? Doesn't that sound like fun?
I've seen quite a few commanders that are the inspiration for a deck
this creature however requires an already successfully operating deck - before any useful contributions from the command zone can ever be made...
There needs to be a line of text on this card to justify building the deck just to get him out. Building a wide deck to pay for this tall guy means you are giving up one strategy for the other. Many small creatures or one big guy.
This creature doesn't justify going wide for any other reason than to jump through hoops to get this guy out. Interesting design but extremely lacking as a commander. Too bad he didn't have a Lord-effect for your team. It would better justify requiring 7 other cards to at least get him on the board. If not 7 cards then even more hoops to cheat him out.
I'd nickname this creature "overburden" both for the connotation to mining and for the ridiculous burden of getting it in play.
I guess he could be... nifty in a commander deck with cards that pull themselves from the yard (like Bloodghast), mana dorks (to pay for dredge spells/act as Congolese fodder), and “graveyard matters” buffs

Yeah, looking at the Altar of Hogaak Bridgevine decks, it does look like Hogaak, Arisen Necropolis is the closest Modern will get to the banned Dread Return. Both can be cast from the graveyard and require creatures to cast from the graveyard. Dread Return makes you lose the creatures used to pay for it and needs a dead target but reanimates anything and lets you pay for it with any creatures, while Hogaak lets you keep the creatures and can be killed and cast again but needs 2 of the creatures to be black or green and often makes you Delve, and Hogaak is a bland 8/8 legendary Trampler.
...Unfortunately, Modern might have already broke this not-quite-Dread Return.
Looks like I see the Lonely Sandbar here. Would be nice.
Forgotten Cave is also visible and the cycle fits the number crunch, as well as Hogaak

This is a real Future-Sight-level design.

Well.... nah you can't
anyway, from what I saw at the modern discussions. This card has already spawned an immensely powerful deck named Hogaak Vine.
