Wow, a spell that does nothing by itself. Hilarious.
Also, undying and persist in the same set. This set is more ridiculous than Time Spiral and it's great. Menace, Deathtouch and Undying is also quite the combo. Makes your opponent need 4 creatures to kill it in combat.
Also, with the cycle complete, they really need to reprint Thornling with mirroring art!
While I don't think it's "competitive" because of its CMC, I'm still impressed by Endling. It resists Bolt with the last ability, blanks most other kill (other than Path) with undying, and virtually always causes card disadvantage for your opponent.
...Throes of Chaos is... weird. I know that many cascade decks only use cascade to get a free mana-cost-less spell, in which case reusable cascade seems better than the usual Cascade + Body... maybe? Someone help me out here.
Throes of Chaos is (i believe) the first mono-colored cascade spell (since the inherit value of the mechanic they had restricted it to multicolor).

Endling is super good, although I'm not sure if it's priced to move. If it was 3 CMC like Brightling, GBx decks would have one hell of a tool. Also a bit annoyed that its "indestructibility" effect only works one time and can be blanked by Path.
I've been playing a 5-color "-ling" deck in EDH, sadly missing a black shapeshifter to feel complete. I had designed a few on MTG card creator and oddly mine were similar to this except it cost BBB, and instead of blinking/invincibility, you could cast it from your graveyard.

Yawgmoth, Thran Physician for a nice little engine assuming we have another creature. Exile still get it, but such is life.

With enough mana it can blank Path too. Respond to the path by giving it undying (and letting that resolve), then activating its +1/-1 enough times to suicide before path resolves, and then come back from undying.
Path would fizzle (so no land search either), but the 'ling would live.
wow... future sight... the 10 cent rare we needed in modern... hurray, now i am happy to pay twice the price for a booster and will be more than happy to open this card... thank you wizards
endling is ok, its nice that it is a zombie in addition to being a shapeshifter, i think that makes him really good (if not for modern, than in other formats... cause this set seems to be more a casual set than a modern set). i think its the 2nd best of the cycle
thoes of chaos is actually very interisting if ur deck has alot of >cmc3 spells u really want to find and retrace helps u to get lands in ur graveyard, since we get more and more cards in this set, that care about this

Check my Pauper Cube!
Endling seems playable, but unless you have a way of removing the +1/+1 counter, the third ability is a one shot deal.
And am I the only one surprised that Future Sight wasn't modern legal already?

Now we need a colorless Eldraziling!

Edit: I guess there’s Ardent Plea
Thornling has a face on its butt, you just can't see it.
