Someone on here called a cycle of these aCADEMY rUINS a few days ago, really glad the prediction came through. amazingly glad to see this. It's going right into my Angus MacKenzie Enchantress EDH deck.
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
A cycle? Of lands that all recur some type of card? I'm guessing this is what they're going with then:
W Enchantments U Instants and Sorceries B Creatures R Artifacts G Land
Well, you can skip the Blue one, since that already exists for artifacts. As does the black one, but it's on the Reserved List. A Red one for Sorceries would be a terrible idea (welcome to Miracle recursion decks), and more land recursion was just provided in the form of Wrenn and Six. It's unlikely to be a full cycle, just like the Swords.
EDIT: Okay, a lot of us are on the same page here.

May your games be chaotic and your decks be Rogue.
I'm aware of Academy Ruins, got a copy of it myself. I just figured if there's to be a new cycle, they'd choose a different card type for blue and maybe make a red Academy Ruins since red loves sacrificing artifacts (though Goblin Engineer makes that less likely). Volrath's Stronghold being reserved means they'd probably have to add 1 to the new version's ability cost, since a strictly worse version isn't going to threaten the value of the original any.
Could also be that the cycle simply consists of utility lands, they simply aren't all Ruins-style lands.

Unless Stasis ends up banned. Like it should be. Some cheap, reliable enchantment exile would help keep it in check, but red decks need a reliable weapon against it. Without breaking color pie, there's Enchanter's Bane + Tormod's Crypt. Of course the Stasis player can just use Force of Will. How is red supposed to play around that? Get a pitch card that makes its next spell that turn uncounterable? Or maybe a pitch fork? If Hall becomes a problem card in a Stasis deck, Wasteland can deal with it in any deck and Surgical Extraction can remove the rest from the deck, but then we're just looking at wallet wars.
*sigh* This is why I hate cards like FoW and Stasis, and would just as soon they be banned (along with all the problem cards FoW supposedly helps keep in check). They warp formats and are unfun to play against and around. At least Modern won't have to worry about any of them any time soon.

Sweet looking card, seems really strong in the right deck. I don't expect to see a red version though because this 'cycle' seems to consist of permanent recovery and I'm not sure what red could get. There's absolutely 0 chance red gets an instant/sorcery recovery because let's face it in the late game against any URx deck it means you'll be cryptic command locked lol. It feels like we've already got a lot of land support but if it's going on top of the deck rather than your hand perhaps a green land one would be ok.
The red one could return a random Instant/Sorcery rather than a chosen one.
Obviously that’s not hard to manipulate,
but it seems a little more likely, at least.
They could also just make it Planeswalkers to really mess with us.

The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
this card strikes me as being way too good! (so did Academy Ruins and Volrath's Stronghold, and I had a Stronghold back in teh day)
gonna be marginal in monomanic competitive decks but really oppressive in casual formats, this card makes Mortify etc look pretty stupid
never been comfortable with this sort of effect - it asks you to play land destruction which makes people complain like crazy

EDIT: too slow :I
The mega cycle already exist Volrath's Stronghold + Academy Ruins + this
Academy Ruins is already the blue one.

So if it stays on permanent types then that leaves planeswalkers. Maybe green could get a planeswalker version?
I could see even a legendary version for green.

The green one will probably return lands.
Wonder what the red one will do.. walkers or random sorceries?
