All the Slivers, especially the pentacolor one, are wonderful, but....where's my discard at combat damage sliver? What are they waiting to print such a basic and yet useful and necessary effect?
the white & red sliver is so powerful mmm
less splashy than the unearth one but just so solid and open-ended
wonder who'd be the best commander to run in a white&red sliver deck?
I love how The First Sliver can also cascade into Changeling instants/sorcerers/enchantments/artifacts beyond just creatures, or Tribal cards, if they ever revisit Tribal in sets like this.
Am I the only one that thinks the Green one Tempered Sliver will make the biggest splash of the three listed?

STOP using "dude/bro" as a pejorative or insult. Grow up.
Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.”
Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
Am I the only one who's a little sad that the type-line on The First Sliver isn't "Elder Sliver"?
I'm glad to see the slivers have returned to their Rathi roots, aesthetically speaking.
I can't imagine what this will cost in a foil.
It's not like Slivers have been around forever on Dominaria. They're certainly much younger as a species than dragons on Dominaria or dinosaurs on Ixalan.

They were around for a while on Rath before they were on Dominaria. And Volrath got them from some other plane before he cultivated a hive on Rath. So we have no idea how old the species is, or its plane of origin.
I wonder if any of those will see play in modern. The WR one looks like a possibility as we have good W and R slivers with low cost and good abilities, the black one can be nasty, if you have conspiracy or arcane adaptation then it becomes extremely good lol
I think my favorite and least favorite thing about this is that after The First Sliver resolves, the next Sliver that you cast that cascades... if that sliver cascades into another sliver, that sliver will cascade as well. So cascading a 6 cost sliver could get up to five-six slivers (is there a 0 sliver?) onto the battlefield depending on the cmc's you hit on the way. It at least gives hypothetical sliver decks a reason pick Tormod's Crypt for their sideboards I suppose.

Apparently the elder type is given to creatures with a primal aspect of their type, thats why belzenlok was a elder demon even if he was not one of the first demons.
The first sliver could have elder as it is the basis of the whole sliver species
I liked some of the humanoid Slivers myself (especially Diffusion Sliver). I don't see a reason why we can't have both, since they can shapeshift.
But hey, Cascade Sliver legend is neat! Sliver Overlord is still the Sliver Commander of choice thanks to its tutoring ability, but now we have five WUBRG Sliver legends, four of which aren't on the Reserve List:
Also, the Cascade is as good a reason as any to include a 4/4 artifact Sliver for 7 in MH1. Urza's Sliver? Or maybe Karn's Sliver? Karn did connect with the Sliver Queen in Tempest, after all. Or how about we go for the silly name of Silver Sliver?
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.

Yep, if this is the basis for the sliver species, it SHOULD have the Elder type, IMO.
It's going to drop, especially non-foil. It can't maintain that price in a print to demand set. It's $40 for pre-order hype only.
As an example, Sliver Hivelord is ~$28, 4 years later. It was a sub $10 card for the longest time after release. Arguably one of the most important slivers to have in a deck, and it was that low for so long with the new sliver hype and playability in standard.
Even if it takes over as the new 5 color food chain commander of choice, Tazri and Niv-Mizzet aren't exactly breaking the bank, and weren't at any point. It seems unlikely that this will break $20 in the months following release.
I wish the Shandalarian Slivers gave us an intimidate Sliver (seriously), now they have the chance to give us one.
And Hexproof, please give us a Hexproof Sliver.
I got excited initially that because this set could introduce cards that are currently not in Modern into the Modern pool that w could see some old cards from a specific Tempest block, but seeing how these Slivers have been templated with the words "you control", I'm guessing that means creatures like Muscle Sliver and Crystalline Sliver are out. Sad.

I’m sensing you’re right about no pre-Shandalarian Slivers being in this set. But they can still give us quite a few heavy hitters with the new template design.
I’m guessing no new Slivers being revealed today/tonight. Cya back tomorrow. We should even use this thread for new Sliver reveals. Just merge new threads into this one.
As much as I love our new lord and savior, can someone help me understand the art a bit more? The central arm is the one under his head, the little claws after the two big ones are beneath him, so far I get it, but everything after the “hip” part is a messing with my head. From the armored part on his back it looks like the central arm would be on his back and he has turned his head by 180°, which wouldn’t make much sense. I know I am overthinking things here, but after seeing the full art, I just cannot wrap my head around it.

It has two main arms (like Sliver Queen) on opposite sides if its body, they're just a little bit lower than you'd expect. The smaller arm beneath its head is comes out from behind its body, just from around where the arm in the foreground starts. It's just being extended.

Allow me to complete the combo:
Basal Sliver + Pulmonic Sliver + Vizier of the Menagerie
+ Any 1 mana Sliver is infinite mana (of any color for creatures).
+ The First Sliver casts everything under 5 CMC in your deck, generates infinite mana, allows you to loop all sliver effects endlessly, and kills everyone with Lavabelly Sliver

AND THE NEW FIVE COLOR ONE JUST MADE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO LOSE WITH SLIVERS IN EDH NOW!
AND I GOT SEVERAL IMPORTANT SLIVERS A WHILE AGO!
SHOW ME MY “Slivers you control have hexproof”!
Oh reminder for those
These are most of the candidates that can be reprinted In the set
