UBRGrixis Shard: Grixis believes in a bold and impassioned search for satisfaction, perfection, and self expression. Those of Grixis colors have an eagerness to break the status quo and remake things in their own image. They disregard tradition and conventional approval, seeing them as unnecessary to achieve their goals, the well behaved rarely make history. Blue wants perfection. Black wants power. Red wants freedom.
Nice, but did this need to be a rare? Uncommon sounds more fitting.

The ultimate fetchland for casual players and they made it rare. Greedy bastards

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
I think this is great. I agree it probably could have been uncommon, though it kind of straddles the line since it is way better than Evolving Wilds/Terramorphic Expanse and giving players unconditional mana fixing in limited could be a problem. I wish they wouldn't focus that much on limited balance for these products, but they do and this card seems like a casualty of that.
I think this is pretty good for EDH too. I don't see many situations where it isn't the right call to swap a basic for this. Yes, it doesn't get duals but it can make sure you get the right colors you need at the time you need them without a tempo loss of having anything enter tapped.

This card is straight up legit for commander, so literally could go into every commander deck in existence. It's not like it would be high demand, but if you can get hold of a bunch of them you might as well. Net result...more boxes sold. Can't blame them for making money.
I'm really disappointed by this stupid cash grab, this card should have been an uncommon especially considering it's meant for budget players who won't break the bank buying actual fetches, but hey, now everybody who doesn't own a lot of fetches is going to chase after this card to plug missing fetch slots. I guess we can count on a cycle of common/uncommon mana fixing in the set.

Except that this will never reach the actual fetch lands prices
While this looks like a cash grab, I think this is a wonderful option for budget players. I hope this puts a dent in Scalding Tarn and the like. This is a good nod to trying to spread out some of the value in the fetches. This will probably absorb a ton of value right off the bat though, it'll be interesting to see how this affects prices.
Edit: I think I am realizing that this only fetches basics... Please ignore everything.
This will be an 8 of purchase for me. A playset for a modern/legacy deck, and one apiece for my edh decks.
If even ten percent of players want more than one playset, this thing will be just as expensive as the "actual" fetchlands.
This will be at minimum a $20 card. No doubt in my mind.
It won't be too far behind some of the regular fetches, honestly. Sure, this only gets basic lands (including Wastes if that's your thing) but it still basically lets you play with a 56-card deck.

Not just wastes, it also gets snow basics... too bad we don't seem to be getting a snow wastes...
A lot of people have been expecting exactly this card for a while because its competitive and workable.
I don't think anyone was expecting it to be a rare in a relatively low print supplementary product that's legal in multiple formats, thereby artificially constraining a ton of decks that want it with a ridiculous price tag. I really hope this card is making it into standard, but I know that its definitely not, otherwise it wouldn't be printed as a rare in this set along the 'updated busted cards' theme.

That's some consolation right there, considering Scalding Tarnis pushing 100 bucks...personally, I would have liked an uncommon fetch cycle, kinda like:
Affordable Tarn:
Pay 1 life, sac: fetch a basic Island or Mountain.
Established players will stick to their fetches, and people getting into Modern (which is the supposed aim of the set) will rush to get as many of these as they can and start brewing half-decent decks at least.
Decks that will use this "budget" fetch land have an advantage against decks that use Blood Moon and other effects that cripple nonbasic lands, as Prismatic Vista deck would probably have a large number of basics.

At first I thought this is the ultimate fetch land, but then I remembered old fetches don't have basic land restrictions.

Wow... a fetchland for ANY basic. This is going to be a staple. This is also going to fetch (no pun intended) a fair price.
So far, loving what I see.
In mtg, real estate is king. Expect WoTc to milk it for moneh.
In two color decks with mostly basic lands, this is an acceptable budget replacement for fetches. Might even see some competitive play.
need 8 of this gem.
