Ice-Fang Coatl GU
Snow Creature- Snake
Flash, flying
When Ice-Fang Coatl enters the battlefield, draw a card.
Ice-Fang Coatl has deathtouch as long as you control at least three other snow permanents.

UBRGrixis Shard: Grixis believes in a bold and impassioned search for satisfaction, perfection, and self expression. Those of Grixis colors have an eagerness to break the status quo and remake things in their own image. They disregard tradition and conventional approval, seeing them as unnecessary to achieve their goals, the well behaved rarely make history. Blue wants perfection. Black wants power. Red wants freedom.
Neat pile of effects, and I really dig the art, but this kind of feels bad at rare. Considering this is supposed to be a fairly high power set, this seems like it should have been uncommon.
... you know, if they put snow dual lands that come into play untapped, I think that might be why they priced the set where it is at. This isn't that bad, but still not the level I'd expect.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
If they print Snow Duals this is an incredible card. If not... I still think it's decent, but now I'm holding out for Counterspell at uncommon and Snow Duals. What a strange place to be.

Nice card I will say again. But why at rare? Strix is Uncommon correct?

Playing since 1994: Currently MAGS (HomeBrew),Standard & Pauper (Pioneer and Modern are degenerate trash formats)
STOP using "dude/bro" as a pejorative or insult. Grow up.
Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.”
Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
Important to note that it cares about Snow Permanents, and not exclusively lands. If they push some low cost Snow permanents, it could very realistically be a better Strix on turn 2.

"Snow Llanowar elves" sounds like a thing that would fit right in. Also, given the flash, it could often be better as a pseudo-removal than t2 play.

Boreal Druid already exists but I doubt we will see version that adds G.
Maybe we'll get an Ice Moon, turning all lands into snow lands.
I'm really happy we can BBE into this Snake in a Temur deck, even though Fblthp is arguably better.

Uh... how many "flash, flying, draw a card, deathtouch" cards do you want to face in one draft? Doom blade that pings and draws a card is not very fun to run into...
Reeeally wish it was "three snow permanents" instead of "three other snow permanents." The difference between 3 and 4 here is quite significant.
Hopefully the fact that this is meant to be a draftable set means there'll be more snow support to give this deathtouch more often, but it's fairly serviceable on its own.

Draft is irrelevant here, unless your LGS is going to hand out Snow basics to use for land slots. Unless you have really consistent pulls in sealed, or just draft every Snow spell in each pack you can, I don't see this ever having Deathtouch in limited.
That's the biggest issue I have with the card is that it's best function (a 2cmc instant removal spell) is entirely dependant on your board state. At it's floor, it's a single target fog that cantrips, and that doesn't feel like a rare effect to me in a set that's supposed to turn Modern on its head.
A must have for Kaseto EDH decks, other than that, a decent card. Flash+deathtouch basically makes it a removal spell in blue/green with the upside of netting you a card and for the low cost of only 2 mana.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).
What would be interesting is if there's a card in this set that allowed you to make a permanent snow covered, like M:tG snow machine. Wow, the synergies would be abound.
It' a cold-hearted snake, look into its eyes...
My friend's Momir Vig deck would love this were it still around, that's a ton of value for simply two mana. Ambush Viper was real threat in draft, so glad to see it at Rare where it will break less limited pools.

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).
Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.

Coldsnap had Rimefeather Owl that made non-snow permanents snow, but it wasn't exactly the most efficient at what it did. I wouldn't be surprised to see something similar here, if not a straight-up reprint.
