Dana Fischer’s preview is tomorrow, and iirc she plays elves? Maybe we’ll get Elvish Spirit Guide in Modern? There’s one spot for it at least.
This is the one I’ve had my fingers crossed for, since the MH announce. I don’t especially like foils, but I want Anna Steinbauer’s Elvish Spirit Guide, in paper, in foil.
I just noted that we are at 14 Myhics with an unbalanced color distribution:
4 Colorless (Changeling, Mox, 2 Sword)
2 White (Eos, Serra)
2 Blue (Urza, Kess)
2 Black (Yawg, Kess)
3 Red (Pyromancer, Wrenn, Kess)
3 Green (Hex, Flourishing, Wrenn)
1 Penta (Sliver)
if we get an Esper Mythic we can balance all the colors perfectly!

"The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again"
Because land in grave is a rg draft theme and shouldn’t really be supported by a colorless angel.
Because they’re only making 40 reprints (excl snow basics and flusterstorm) and most people would like the majority of those 40 to have some chance of play in some format.
I counted the rares. Not sure if this is a mistake but you have 6 rares listed for the multicolored section and there are 7 in the section.
Using this information and the newly revealed Pashalik Mons we have 46/53 rares. The following information is the color breakdown on rares currently:
5 white
5 blue
5 black
6 red
7 green
7 multicolored
2 artifacts
6 land
There are 7 more rares.
It looks like we are getting a cycle of dual colored rares in the multicolored. We have the dimir, Boros, izzet, Orzhov, selensya, simic, and Rakdos pair colors.
The 3 remaining multicolored yet to be revealed are the Gruul, azorious, and golgari color paired rares.
This leaves 4 more, which I’m almost unsure of. I don’t think there’s going to be a mono color rare balance. I feel we may see one more white, black, and blue bringing everything kind of close. Regardless for some odd reason green gets an extra rare (as well as an extra Mythic). The last Rare I’m going to guess we get another artifact rare.
This is my best guess.
Edit: the uncommon number in the multicolored section should say 8 as well and it says 7. It looks like there’s also a dual colored Uncommon cycle as well in the multicolored section with the azorious and golgari colored Uncommon color paired cards missing.
Hopefully, we get more playable Slivers. Onky the boros is one is immediately playable. The other ones such as unearth and the boros reckoner one might see value as sideboard or combo ones... otherwise...not much will see play.
Eh, any numbering misses in the individual sections is my fault as I have not double checked them against known cards. Been more focused on the rarity breakdown numbers and keeping them up-to-date. Will likely do a numbers sweep tonight, once most of the spoilers for the day are done

I just noticed Nature's Chant at 210, smack in the middle of the multicoloreds.
Is this precedented, putting hybrid-cost cards and non-hybrid-multicolor-cost cards interchangeable in the same section of numbering? I believe in all past sets that had hybrids, the first hybrid was numbered higher than the last nonhybrid multicolor.

the hint she gave (gods she's adorable) was something about multiple Llanowar Elves. seems to rule out that card. I'm betting it's an uncommon like 3 drop tap for GGG or something similar. a big mana dork that ramps you considerably

i thought quirion ranger would have been a slam dunk for horizons. with that being crunched out, i guess ill take whatever lol (for modern elves that is). the stony silence bear is a nice bullet target for chord builds (as opposed to lead the stampede builds).
i guess wirewood symbiote is still in the running; though with the general lack of reprints and higher emphasis on new designs im expecting something new. once i saw that dana fischer was one of the people getting spoilers, i figured there was no way wizards would give her anything but something for modern elves.

Yeah, Elvish Aberration fits her hint, and fits the cycling theme in this set. Unless We're getting some sort of "powerfixed" version for today's modern format like Llanowar Aberration - a 5cmc Elf that adds GGG when tapped and straight up cycles for 2 (instead of forest cycling).
So we are probably not getting any older slivers in modern like Hibernation, Crystalline, Muscle, or Hunter. I am hoping there can still be Hexproof, Explore/Scry, or Cursecatcher/Mauseluem Sliver out there. I think these would be interesting to include in modern slivers. Otherwise, I think this entire set outside the Boros Flying/Haste Sliver has been a total bust for a modern sliver deck perspective.
There might be a combo deck of slivers with Psionic Sliver and Boros Recknoer Sliver or with the Unearth Sliver somwhere to help against midrange or control, but on the whole, totally and completely disappointing in actually adding power to Modern Slivers.
Pernicious deed is still live, or at least a homage to it, they will probably printing it as "non-land permanents" Is this something that might happen?
Slivers needs two cards: It needs some kind of general counterspell ability a la Spellstutter Sprite but sliver related. The second thing it really needs is some kind of effective opponent discard a la Kitesail Freebooter. The problem is both those cards are too powerful if made for all slivers that ETB, but without them the deck gets shredded if you aren’t quick enough. Not sure what Wizards can do tbh.
