So, Arboreal Grazer is a Monkey in all but type? Or is it supposed to be part Sloth? Why not make it a Monkey Sloth? The Simic have put out far weirder.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.

Let it have some beast tribal sinergies
By the way, did the simic do anything in this set? I expected a kraj #2 or the guardian project or something like that

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.

Simic...they had that apex hybrid dude...Bioessence Hydra doesn't have flavor text so, no idea about that, but maybe...they have about as much specific nonsense going on as everyone else...just nothing hugely ridiculous that you'd expect...which is weird.
That enchantment curve really well after incubation Druid. You play it for free, maybe even chaining it with another. With the 3 mana walker for redundancy, i could see a proliferate ramp deck work well. 9 mana turns four!
This is probably obvious, but with a 3 land hand I do love T1 Grazer into T2 Horizons, swing with a 2/2 on 2. It's not what I'd call a "clock" but untapping with 4 mana on 3 isn't bad either.
Is Arboreal Grazer a better turn 1 play than Llanowar Elves?, they can't exactly kill the second land that comes into play and you can still be up to 3 mana turn 2.
Llanowar Elves are probably still better since people aren't losing their ***** over this sloth hehe

The challenge with the Sloth is that it can be do nothing from time to time as it requires a land in your hand to be worthwhile, Llanowar elves on an empty board is at least some sort of clock, possibly enough to win the game.
Edit: 1 place where I think this could really shine would be some sort of Simic Aggro - T1 Arbor Sloth, T2 Curious Obsession on the Sloth and 2 mana up for Negate or whatever (heck, go Temur and keep up a shock). My previous concerns about late game top-decks stand but if you're drawing off the Compulsion then that's a bonus. I do get that mono-u aggro is fine with T1 1 drop, T2 compulsion and Dive Down up. But this has a huge butt and may allow for a slightly more mana hungry build.

It does, indeed, become difficult to sloth this thing into a deck at times.
I think I still prefer Gift of Paradise for my own decks though, 3 life is just too good at times.

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).
Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.

I see what you did there.:)
I'm a huge fan of life gain so it hurts to say this but 3 life is just a fairly small buffer against not loosing. A +1/+1 counter can increase your clock. Granted, in an empty board Gift is more value. Really hard to value one over the other.
I think the lack of "Wow Factor" for this card is because of two things. First and foremost, there is a lot of "Wow" getting spread around with this set. There just isn't enough to go around. Second, this effect sort of exists already on a Modern card that sees no competitive play. I think that once people realize how much better than Elvish Pioneer this is, it will get its due.
Yeah and what it made? Where are my simic super-soldiers fighting the eternals with their crab-fists?
The only one is Roalesk, but looks like the only good thing he can do is dying

Yeah, Llanowar Elves can attack and all, but I honestly would rather play this on turn one and get an extra land down. Also sick having a blocker for mono red and the reach against mono blue.
But yeah, it can also be a totally dead card, but I like those high risk / high reward type cards and strategies hehe. I think this card is better than it looks.
Weird interaction with the Grazer on MTGA. Played a Stomping Ground t1 (paid the life), tapped to play the Grazer, choose a second stomping ground from my hand to play and was given the choice to pay the 2 life again. MTGA allowed me to pay the life and tap the 2nd stomping ground for mana to play a pelt collector. Is this a bug or can this actually happen?
Definitely an MTGA rules disobedience. The rulings for the shocklands specifically say "If an effect puts this land onto the battlefield tapped, you may pay 2 life, but it still enters tapped."
I wonder if Elvish Rejuvenator, Scapeshift, and World Shaper were subject to the same bug. This isn't the first card in this standard that can put nonbasic lands onto the battlefield tapped.
Grazer is like "man these leaves are so good" *munch munch* "what's this about a guy named Nicky? *munch munch*
This reminds me of the sloth from the last book of the iron druid chronicles... Best interpretation of a sloth ever, especially in the audible version^^ Also, it gets a green combat trick to decapitate some people at speeds a sloth has never decapitated people before... so theres that as a bonus

Or if you are playing the right format, turn 1 forest, Exploration, forest, arboreal grazer, any other land.
