"Win on three - 1, 2, 3, WIN!" That's the vibe I get from this art, and the card conveys that almost perfectly. This is actually really flavorful in all aspects.

Lapsed DCI Rules Advisor - Retired from playing but still hanging around
Charging up the spirit bomb final strike? GodsEternal I hope not.
Gids is gonna get it gud from the BigPoppaDragon Bolas.
Card seems good for GW token strategies though. Thumbs up

The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost. The true heart can tough the poison of hatred without being harmed. Since beginning-less time, darkness thrives in the void but always yields to purifying light.
I invision a future where one is not mighty when he can silence a crowd with brutality,
but when he leaves them speechless with wisdom.
They're tripping ALL the blasted death flags... and trying to get their claws around my heart to take out the most honorable and self humbling character I know of (post Tragic Arrogance)
Oh... and can we say, Ajani is a curse to pure white walkers if Gids dies. First Elspeth and now him..... :/

MTG Junky... First packs being a starter of each 4th Edition and Ice Age. Good Grief, I've been playing since 1995? Where does the time go!

this is mtgs, where occam's razor is so blunt it can't cut jello any more.
English might not be my first language but saying "No one hero will save this day" sounds weird. Did they meant to say "Not one hero will save this day?"

It's meant as "No SINGLE hero will save this day".

Gideon: "No one hero will save this day. Today we must all be heroes."
Citizen: "Cool one man... Now go and use that sword of yours to kill that dragon, will you?"

Yeah, at this point it would be more of a twist if he actually survives hehe.
That's one inspiring, lawful good hero wielding one seriously evil, soul-killing sword...
Maybe Gideon's influence will purge it of evil? There are few greater justices than turning a tool of evil into a weapon of good.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.

IDK. I'm not sure Stormbringer would start selling cookies if, say, King Arthur or Lancelot started wielding it. I'm sure there's a reason why Gideon has such an artifact, but I haven't heard it yet.
The card is nice, but not sure it sees play in GW go-wide decks so far.

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).
Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.

The sword is just a tool, it is neither good or evil. It doesn't have a mind, it lacks intent. Now, the swords creator however, was one of the most evil of all the oldwalkers. He'd seriously give Leshrac, Tevesh Szat, and Nicol Bolas a run for their money in the evil department.
As for the card at hand, Pledge of Loyalty seems like a solid uncommon.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).
I'm sure there's a reason why Gideon has such an artifact, but I haven't heard it yet.
Gideon, Liliana, and Chandra worked with Jhoira's Weatherlight crew to steal the Blackblade from Belzenlok's Stronghold. Gideon was against using it at first, but he ultimately agreed to use it against Belzenlok and Bolas.

This is actually really moving art.
Gideon is so going to die
Probably, followed by a "Nani!!??" with Bolas going "omae wa mou shindeiru"
Gids is gonna get it gud from the BigPoppaDragon Bolas.

Is this a hint at Gideon's swan song in the storyline?

Elspeth and Jhoira rock my world.
I rather see this card in a Resplendent Angel deck, where we miss huge lifegain cards overall and this fits.
