You have to have top deck manipulation to get any benefit from the [+1]. Randomly guessing cards is pretty bad in reality.
Returning a card from graveyard is pretty fine, but assumes a spell already cast that you'd want.
Static ability is very meta dependent.
At the end of the day, these new walkers don't have ultimates, so they don't give you end games to plan for.
She can either be very good, or very bad, depending on your setup or your opponents.
My guess is that she is going to be a bit overrated at first, and then people will settle in to the fact that she is a Regrowth for 2UG most games.
I see her more as "fill your yard (with a chance for card advantage) and get what you need later". No need to cast stuff, just mill it, let it sit and fish it out when needed. Assuming she stays around for more than one turn, of course.
I would be so annoyed if my favorite bunny girl would bite the dust. Seriously the moonfolk is one of the best things about Kamigawa. We need more Moonfolk walker not less.

Folks, when the new Green and Blue gods come out, with their new tuck 3-cards-down abilities, her +1 will appear to be more useful. She might end up being tech in 60-card decks themed around the Green/Blue gods yet to be spoiled. Consider this with the Spark Double and you suddenly have a lot of redundancy built into the deck that can get out of hand very quick. She is a good card in the correct situation.
A more expensive eternal witness with some relevant EDH-abilities and a yardfiller/drawengine if you have som etop manipulation. Seems fine to me.
`She's pretty good vs wheel efects aswell

What's the order of actions when you sac Rhonas to Prime Speaker Vannifar? Do you shuffle before or after you tuck him?
Vannifar's ability fully resolves before Rhonas' trigger does. You shuffle first, then tuck.
Incorrect. You sacrifice Rhonas as a cost and put Vannifar's trigger on the stack. Rhonas then triggers and gets placed on the stack, which will resolve first. Tuck, then shuffle.

The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost. The true heart can tough the poison of hatred without being harmed. Since beginning-less time, darkness thrives in the void but always yields to purifying light.
I invision a future where one is not mighty when he can silence a crowd with brutality,
but when he leaves them speechless with wisdom.
Even Tamiyo in the artwork looks surprised at her card being like this. Like, everything about this card seems so random including the fact that this is a Tamiyo card.
My sentiment exactly. The card isn't bad, but nothing about it really feels like Tamiyo. And she's not the only one in WAR, several other planeswalkers look as if the cards were designed first and then had random characters assigned to them.
I can't stand her art though. It looks like she gained 50lbs
So? Planeswalkers are people too. And Tamiyo in particular is a middle-aged mom according to the story. I agree with the folks who say she just looks realistic.

While I agree that some of the planeswalkers (but not really a majority of them) are a bit random when it comes to their abilities, that isn't the case for Tamiyo here in my opinion. Her -3 was always part of her ability line-up (see her first iterations' ultimate) and her +1 is a representation of her searching for a specific "story" in your library. I would go as far and say that this card represents her story character better than Tamiyo, the Moon Sage and UG is a better color combo for her in my opinion than mono-U or UW (though I prefer seeing her as a U-centred Bant-character). Her static ability is a bit random though, that I admit. These are anti-B effects , the main zombie color, so maybe it represents her giving up neutrality against the dreadhorde, but I admit that's reaching a bit. Still, her other iterations also had at least one inexplicable ability from a flavor standpoint (Why does she draw cards from tapped creatures of your opponent? Why does she randomly draw cards through combat damage?) and so I think that's ok.
And I like how she's drawn here, but the perspective is a bit strange. Don't think at all that it's bad art though.

You can think of her static, or at least the anti-discard part, as protecting the stories she already has. She not only seeks new stories, she also keeps them in her scrolls. The anti-sac does seem to be tacked on, though.
Am I crazy for loving her Epiphany? Sorcery speed is obviously not great on it so maybe it has no chance in any 1v1 constructed format, but scry 4 plus draw 2 feels very strong to me. Like, fact or fiction strong, minus the instant speed.
So? Planeswalkers are people too. And Tamiyo in particular is a middle-aged mom according to the story. I agree with the folks who say she just looks realistic.
The middle-aged mom look is exactly the problem in the art.
The artist didnt try to paint Tamiyo at all, but just took a generic asian old women with all human proportions and made that, especially the face looks completely out of touch for the Tamiyo character and more like a stock photo of a asian geisha.
Tamiyo is a MOONFOLK and they are very slim in statue and in all pictures of Tamiyo she looks exactly like you would expect a moonfolk to look like.
On the other card she is still slim and looks exactly like she should.
In this art the artist simply failed to paint Tamiyo.
I believe its a terrible idea to have multiple artists paint the same character, as this produces art like this, which is out of character, there needs to be consistency and guidelines, which they failed to meet in this art particularly.
I don't get you people. which part of Tamiyo in the art looks "fat" to you? I mean like seriously.
Its probably the neck part that is completely missing on this art , in the other art you can always see Tamiyos particularly large neck (like all Moonfolk).
Shes not a human, but in this art she is pretty much modeled after a asian human, which in comparison to a moonfolk is "fat" ; by human standards its not fat.
Breathe out.
Let your passion give you strength for the task at hand... And let the bashing begin!

Well, that's some beatdown train right there. Sac Rhonas, get beater, dig for Rhonas, buff beater, rinse, repeat...
>crickets
>Tamiyo drawn with unambigously asian features
>immediate complaints about how Tamiyo looks

Incorrect. You sacrifice Rhonas as a cost and put Vannifar's trigger on the stack. Rhonas then triggers and gets placed on the stack, which will resolve first. Tuck, then shuffle.
It also makes sense when you think about how *incredibly* neutral she is.
GU is a much more “neutral” color group than WU or WUG.

Hmm, feels like the opposite of what happened to Arlinn who looks younger in her new art.
