Yeah because caring for wildlife and trying to stop, or at least get explanations for a demonic/necromantic ritual is moronic and childish
And yeah, those weren't his beasts. They were wild beasts, because the story is set on shandalar, the home plane of thragtusk and similar beasts.
He was totally the victim, Liliana acted like the classic chaotic evil character, mocking and not caring about others at best and well, trying to mortally curse them at worse.
I'll respond once, but your disrespectful use of the rolleyes emote is, itself, childish at best and as far as I am concerned makes me unwilling to engage you until and unless you can do so with maturity. Please reconsider your posting style if you want people to take you seriously in the future.
The beast attacked Liliana. She killed it in defense. I'm tired of the character, too, but in this case, what was she supposed to do, let it kill her? Garruk is so poorly written (or simply so stupid in-universe) that he doesn't even respect his own rules. Rather than "survival of the fittest" and "red in tooth and claw," he gets upset at the superior predator which killed a beast in self-defense, chases her down, and gets rightly cursed. It's all his own fault. He's not an intelligent character, and a poorly-written one, and generally deserves all the bad stuff that comes his way. So does Liliana. Doesn't make Garruk some innocent victim here. He 100% brought all of it on himself. I personally am hoping they both get the axe, and take Mr. Bland Jace with them.
He was upset that Liliana left the beast rotting from within body and soul instead of just killing it. And yes he's stupid, he's a traumatized child raised by baloths who distrusts civilization and society so much he resents language itself. He was pretty well written in the webcomics, you just don't like or understand his character.

I understand him fine, I just don't think he's very well-written. Most of their story stuff isn't. I'm sorry, I just don't agree. The beast attacked something, Garruk couldn't even live by his own rules, and threw a planar tantrum when he got bested by something he ought not to have provoked in the first place. Sorry. He deserved what he got. Lili will deserve her demise along with Bolas (though his is much more likely to be fake or transitory) if she gets it. And that's the last I will say on the matter.

Is there a single source for the story of the Lili v Garruk conflict? I didn’t remember there being so much detail, but I didn’t seek out info beyond the cards at the time. Would like to read it myself now it’s getting so much discussion.

There is a Webcomic (still in the mothership). There was one for Jace vs Chandra, one for Garruk vs Liliana, one for the origins of Garruk and Liliana, one for the origns of Ajani, one origins of Tezereth, one for the meeting of Elpeth, Koth and Vencer and the begguing of their fight vs New Phyrexia, etc.
The beast attacked Liliana. She killed it in defense.
She could have just scared the beast away, or let it feed. It's not like she was affectionated to the horse or something like that.
You can clearly see her immobilizing the beast first, then using other other tendrils to suffocate and kill for no reason.
She could have acted in many other way, she decided to be a violent jerk
Rather than "survival of the fittest" and "red in tooth and claw," he gets upset at the superior predator which killed a beast in self-defense, chases her down, and gets rightly cursed.
The superior predator who kills not to feed but just out of cruelty? The superior predator who taints the land with necromancy?
Yeah, i totally wonder why Garruk didn't respect her way to hunt...
Doesn't make Garruk some innocent victim here. He 100% brought all of it on himself. I personally am hoping they both get the axe, and take Mr. Bland Jace with them.
Garruk is the victim. Liliana could have acted n many other ways (hell, nowaday anti-heroine Liliana would surely have acted differently). Garruk couldn't react in better ways. He sensed necromantic/demonic magic and it was the right thing for him to stop it. He actually tried to understand the situation first, no "axe first, question later".
"Is this your mess?" "What are you?" All questions that Garruk made and that were mocked by Liliana. And Still, he isn't the first one to attack, it's Liliana.
And still, the curse was completely pointless. She could have just immobilized him and then planeswalk away. Instead she wanted to be cruel.
By i'm willing to bet they'll retcon it, saying that Liliana didn't want to curse Garruk, it was a mistake since she couldn't control the Chain Veil.
Really, what should have Garruk done to be innocent in your eyes? Ask something to Liliana, then simple walk away without anything when he sees she doesn't cooperate?

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
Acceptable: Garruk summons a giant troll-beast creature and has it attack Liliana, which knocks her through a stone pillar and causing the pillar to break, Liliana immediately gets up and puts on the chain veil to channel necromatic energies and avoiding Garruk's axe swings, Liliana then curses him and escapes.
Unacceptable: Garruk trying to hold Liliana and strike her with the dagger-fist thing he has, gets reversal'd by Liliana as her zombies hold him down as she gets away.
11:15, restate my assumptions: 1. Mathematics is the language of nature. 2. Everything around us can be represented and understood through numbers. 3. If you graph these numbers, patterns emerge. Therefore: There are patterns everywhere in nature. - Maximillian Cohen.
Since when is Selvala a Planeswalker? Or a brunette? Or seen without her hat?
There are people thinking it is Elspeth. I think we all went tho it some times, you know, wishing too hard for a character that is a completely diferent one (or close but missing something) could be another.
I still remember the speculation that the art for Academy Journeymage could be Narset on dominaria, but even if they shared like 3-4 features, it wasn't her contradicting the desires of some
Whelp, the low end prices for Mox Amber have already doubled on MKM.
Seems speculators are really betting on these planeswalkers being anything near playable.
There is still hope that Garruk will be a 37th planeswalker as a buy a box promo. Or in the inevitable War of the Spark, Mythic edition.
Unacceptable: Garruk trying to hold Liliana and strike her with the dagger-fist thing he has, gets reversal'd by Liliana as her zombies hold him down as she gets away.
That's because some imbecils saw Garruk's knee between Liliana's slightly open legs and thought "That's sexual assault! REEEEEEE!".

I remember what I thought back then and it has changed in recent times: Looks like violence to me, but not of the other variety. Its basically an unfair rep he gets while the same people ignore the other innumerable things that could be considered questionable and morally bankrupt.
With what happened to Garruk, what gets on my nerves was the faux outrage about literally nothing.
Then jump to a few years later and you have an article about the Ixalan Jace and how that one is a new and improved male figure that all male players should pursue: the clueless male who is literally manipulated by his captor (Vraska, at the time).
Putting this aside,I wonder which planeswalkers will be in which rarity. Given that Bolas is the one who controls the Immortal Sun, we can assume that he will retain their mythic power level.
As for the others, there are 4 new walkers and it would be a shame if they made their debut as anything but mythic power level.
Liliana (weakened by the Immortal Sun, by sustained by the Cain Veil might be at rare-level with Gideon and the Black Blade?
Yet, I can't wrap my mind around which ones will be at uncommon and for what reason.
i mean... not to put too fine a point on it, but there clearly was an issue, whether you personally deemed it significant or not.
you think it's fine? sure. That's allowed. That's completely your opinion and while we can challenge your opinion in fair, good-faith discussion, you are welcome to hold your opinion and it's valuable to hear you explain why.

I don’t think we will see the typical style planeswalker + - abilities for all. I gather the uncommon and maybe rares will work like Sagas but still having loyalty counters that are removed until they lose their spark and turn into just legendary creatures.
Uncommon Tibalt 1R
When ~ comes into play and at the beginning of combat, remove a loyalty counter. Deal 1 damage to any target. Loyalty 2. When 0, transform into a 2/1 legendary creature with haste.
Something like "Fading" from Nemesis so there is a clock on Planeswalkers so they don’t linger very long on the board. It would be flavorful. Flipping or create a token of themselves, what ever is cheaper for WotC I suppose.

It’s going to be something like this. Grinding game 1 in every round of draft for 45 mins is the least fun experience I can imagine. The only way to do this set successfully and flavorfully is flipwalkers with some variation of all minus abilities.

I think it’s likely they start as walkers and flip to humans.
It’s interesting to me as a variant on the current way we view flipwalkers.
In draft, everyone will have access to an average of three planeswalkers (since you get three packs, and each has one). Some players will be taking them highly for a superfriends build, and other will be trying to go under them aggressively (which definitely MUST be viable). As long as they prioritize early-game, nongrindy walkers and late-game big impact walkers over the more traditional midrange grindy walkers, I don't think the format will be horrible.
Traditional mainstays like Bolas, Ugin, Teferi, Jace, Liliana and Karn are the most likely to be Mythic or possibly Rare. It makes much more sense to put new Planeswalkers are lower power levels: they aren’t popular yet and, if any become very popular here, they can be promoted to traditional Mythic Planeswalkers in later sets.
Another possibility is to make conspicuously outside Planeswalkers weaker. They could make the powerful ones those native to Ravnica and those seen to have been here for a while.
other people think it's not fine? you have to logically concede that there's an issue even if you aren't affected as an individual. I disagree with this premise. It is possible to be unjustifiably outraged. If a white supremacist were outraged by Teferi, would you say that is reasonable? It is fair to say not all reasons for being offended are justified. Of course, it’s not generally a good topic for Internet discussion to discuss whether an individual’s outrage toward a specific thing is good or bad. But I think your statement of logical truth is inaccurate in this case.
I'm not expecting uncommon Planeswalkers to be very substantial other than being used thematically for the story and something unique in Limited. Just look at Dominaria's uncommon Legends, they were fine for Limited and outside of that they were consigned to the bulk bin. I expect the same will happen with the uncommon Planeswalkers.
Except then are are just basically creatures with modal ETB's. Where's the interesting new mechanic there? I really hope it's not just that.
The real novelty would be it's a Planeswalker turning back into a normal Joe, and not the other way which has been done. I just used a simple mechanic that still fits the story and would not be difficult for a brand new player to understand. You can still interact with them and Shock or ping poor Tibalt preventing him from flipping. Planeswalkers are losing spark and/or dying (however you want to interpret the trailer). Maybe there is another card in the set that will interact with Planeswalkers losing their spark (e.g. flipping). Like an Artifact that gains spark counters for every Planeswalker you flip for some ultimate? That sounds like a gimmick they would try.
Overall, the Planeswalkers are the marketing gimmick for the set and maybe there will be 1 or 2 constructed gem in the 36.

In card form, this would justify them as low impact.
The PWs will likely be part of their own special sheet, akin to Timeshifted cards and DFCs, thus they may not appear at all in the usual Common, Uncommon, and Rare/Mythic slots.
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.

It depends on how powerful they make the walkers. If they all have minus abilities and flip into legendary creatures when out, its not too bad.
If they are straight up planeswalkers, emblems and everything, I would imagine there will be a huge amount of removal/suppression.
