I am happy to see Tibalt back but really 36 planeswalkers? What rarity will they be and how much time and attention went into them? I feel it will devalue the uniqueness of planeswalkers.

Current guesstimate is Dominaria's legendaries but planeswalkers this time.
I think that all these Planeswalker Wil be fine in limited. As long as they design them not strictly for one format and one format only you can still have many great high costed cards that are too slow or too weak in limited to warrant risking a draft of 3 or more colors just to be able to play "the Planeswalker deck". So the person trying to play that will get 1 or 2 other walkers people pass and a go at the mana fixing. There will probably be pw hate and aggro cards that get bonuses if you opponent have a pw.
I'm sure all of them will be bombs in the right deck but a pw only deck is probably going to be popular in sealed but even then it's all a luck of the draw with there being 5 colors and all that stuff. Even then there will definitely be uncommon removal and probably common burn that deals with pw so they won't be that devastating, I hope. They may even be a fun card to interact with.
I've always found "rediculously overpushed mythic midrange goodstuff" planeswalkers dull. That's what most planeswalkers have been throughout MtG history. I've been happy with the more subtle choices they've made with cards like Aminatou, the Fateshifter, Kaya, Orzhov Usurper, Daretti, Scrap Savant, and Lord Windgrace.
I think planeswalkers that aren't made to be value mythics will be good for the universe. I bet I'll like the rare planeswalkers more than the mythic ones.
I could see a number of these walkers either turning into creatures (Gideon, Sarkhan, Arlinn) or making really powerful creature tokens (Kiora, Jace, Huatli) to help make games flow better.

While I was hoping for flip walkers, I could just as easily point to a response where Mark confirms that 36 walkers with one in each pack IS the "crazy" element.
While wishing is free, I'm going to need some compelling evidence before I buy into this theory.
36 walkers is pretty crazy. Planeswalkers are complicated enough already, and they represent something that is hypothetically rare (even if Vraska, Domri, and Ral are all from Ravnica; Chandra and Saheeli are both from Kaladesh; Kiora and Nissa are both from Zendikar; etc.)
Three or two planeswalkers being from the same plane doesn’t disprove the rarity of planeswalkers. We don’t know the population of these planes but it’s probably pretty decent. Hell, in the US, you could have 300 thousand people have XX trait and still be less than 0.1% overall. Even at 0.001% you’d still have 3000 people. Dominaria is canonically twice the size of Earth but I don’t think they’ve confirmed a population overall.
And 36 planeswalkers being here doesn’t make it less rare. Since they can all move between planes and are being drawn by Lightning Bug. Nuclear physicists are rare but if you live near a nuclear power plant, the concentration will probably be higher than usual.
Aminatou, Dack, Daretti, Elspeth, Estrid, Garruk, Koth, Mu, Rowan, Tezzeret, Will and Xenagos are missing.
Elspeth and Xenagos are greek dead.
Garruk is in sensitivity training.
Koth is trapped in the phyrexian arena.
Tezzeret is off-plane to pull out Bolas if his plan fails, and likely finally betray him for good.
Where are the rest?
I wonder if the stained glass pics are previews of what the normal PW card art will look like? Though their faces look a bit off. Like, there's too much detail and shading for glass, you know? It's almost like those photo murals where people stick their faces through holes. Oh, wait, does this mean everyone's trapped in stained glass pictures so now Mario's gonna have to find Power Stars by jumping into paintings?

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
I wonder how furious bolas is gonna be when he spots ugin
Edit I wonder if one of the unknown walkers is Tacenda Verlasen
As much as I desperately want that, it's not happening here. She's a songmage (bard), and usually has her viol, azorius looking Shepard and raiden just don't fit.
The stained glass version must be the planeswalker masterpieces hidden in the booster boxes. I bet.
Ya know, after staring at the stained glass images for a while, I hope they don't get used for cards of any kind. Honestly, they look pretty terrible when you look at them at card-size. Like badly colored coloring book images.
The stained glass version must be the planeswalker masterpieces hidden in the booster boxes. I bet.
According to the article with the stained glass art, "The card art will be different, though—in fact, these stained-glass versions aren't appearing on cards at all!" So, no, the stained glass art was made specifically just for the teaser trailer.
But hey, new Tibalt, maybe he won't suck now!
Am genuinely looking forward to finally getting a new Ashiok as well. Ooooh, new Arlinn as well, really hope she still transforms though.

I predict that uncommon planeswalkers will feel a lot like uncommon sagas along the lines of Song of Freyalise and The Eldest Reborn.
