Maybe 3-color cards that incorporate 2 legendary creatures from 2 different guilds in the style of Gisa and Geralf? Like a WRG Aurelia and Emmara, or a BUW Lazav and Teysa?
I wonder if the war of the spark could be a wedge set, since MaRo has said in the past that their polling showed that people were disappointed that the Khans block didn’t carry the wedge color theme all the way through. So there still seemed to be more of a demand for another wedge set than a shard set.
The whole talk about guilds against guilds suggest that the set will have cards where 2 guilds work together, like having a card with both Surveil and Undergrowth on it

This set will probably be mechanically separate from the GRN block. Dragons Maze didn’t go over well plus the new model is supposed to be separate sets. We could see throwbacks to the mechanics (ie surveil written out without the keyword) but I don’t think we’ll see returning mechanics.

If the guilds still is a part of the set and story, it would be weird if they didn't have their mechanics
But the guild mechanics as they appear in GRN and ARN are the 3rd mechanic for some of the guilds so keeping the guilds doesn't mean keeping the mechanics.

I don't think they will honestly, i think it will just be a planeswalker fest

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
I know three colors will/might be a theme, but wondering/hoping we will see a return of the Nephilim from the first Rav, but escalated to Legendary status since MaRo (I believe) once lamented they he wished they were printed as rares. And w/ the return of Legendaries from Return to Ravnica in the first 2 Return to Return to Rav sets, I don't think this is a far-fetched idea.
It was announced that the 3rd set will not be about the guilds. It will be a story set in Ravnica. Perhaps some characters will appear and guild cards may appear (watermark on multicolor cards) but I don’t see the mechanics appearing. The highlight for this set will be the battle against Bolas, thus the title. The new mechanics will reflect that.

There are unfortunately no flavor text cues to support this. The Raze Boar might be coming upon us as a power from Old Ravnica, but one would expect more mentioning of Cult of Yore or anything relating to it. The hints though have been rather focussed on other things as far as I can tell.

Planar Chaos was not a mistake neither was it random. You might want to look at it again.
[thread=239793][Game] Level Up - Creature[/thread]
With the story being pretty much Bolas sparking an all-out invasion of a plane and (at least some) guilds and planeswalkers fighting against him and his army of undead, I would surprised if we will not see any "guilds working together" 3-color cards.
I wonder if they will do split planeswalker cards, featuring two planeswalkers, with separate +/- abilities but a shared ultimate, kind of like the fuse cards from Dragon's Maze.
maybe they do it like they did on alara, where colors can be mixed up
i think we could see alot of hybrid mana, giving a card a 3 color idendity but allowing to play it for 2 different mana. for exampe U/W + U/B hybrid, makes the card esper and representing a co-work of azorius and esper (just an example!), but u could play it mono blue, bw,bu,uw
kind of would allow to implement all 10 guilds in one set and dont make the plane lose its idendity

A split card for planeswalkers would be a nightmare to design properly and use without having a magnifying glass, I assume. Some planeswalkers cards have very small text as they are now, imagine one of them in half the space.
Not to mention that having 2 sides of a card showing up as a permanent at all times could be confusing for long games, it would be Kamigawa flips all over again.
But may be I'm blowing it out of proportions a little bit.
I don't feel Maro's "maybe" qualifies to the main forum. It is a Speculation, or even Baseless Speculation. He responds "Maybe :)" to everything that is neither already confirmed or denied, nor is a color pie break.
I'd be cool with tricolor cards, Guild-related or otherwise. We're getting Bolas without a doubt. Some planeswalkers could function as tricolor:
Tamiyo's been GWU before.
Sarkhan's been GUR, and was almost BRG in DTK, so he could be BRG here (which incidentally compliments Narset rather well).
Narset could be URW as a nod to her AT role as Khan of the Jeskai.
Huatli has been both RW and GW, and she comes from a RGW faction, so her getting a RGW card seems perfectly reasonable.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
The reality is that we will probably get some minor bolas support in his colors ALA Dark Intimations. The only reason difference is they aren't being subtle about Bolas' involvement this time around so instead of minor support, it may be something more overt ala another Cruel Ultimatum variant that doesn't hit bolas (Hour of Devastation) or it may be something that helps in a Bolas deck (Augur of Bolas that can find a bolas card too)
If they do anything unique beyond the "loads of walkers" suspected theme (which would honestly be pretty fun in itself), I would be shocked

I'd like to see some hybrid mana 'walkers. Those are due to us if at least in a single showing.
