Powerful Mythic: Wizards just made this Mythic because it's strong! Cashgrab! Mythics should be unique and quirky!
Weird Mythic with an unique, quirky effect: Why is this Mythic? It should be a rare! Mythics should be strong!
It's an endless circle...
Well except it is neither... it is not unique or quirky or powerful.....
It seems especially egregious when we're on a fan-favorite plane like Ravnica that is literally sopping with flavor and we get a bland could-have-been-Core-Set mythic instead of something that feels Ravnican. Maybe I'm missing the feel of this card, but I honestly think it could have been in a Core Set.

Feels unique enough to me. A trippy Octopus that's protected by mini Octopus Illusions that also stun/confuse whoever comes in contact with them? That's a lot of dedication to flavor, kind of similar to Meandering Towershell. [Whoops, that was a rare. But my point still stands. This is a lot more unique than Seraph of the Scales or Skarrgan Hellkite.]

First octopus are really common animals, second it's way easier to hide something in the sea than... in the middle of the city, third looks like this one has some magic abilities, so it could have used them to survive
Hell, its whole card is about being able to survive thanks to illusions
Still not convinced that an Okapi on Ravnica is a capital flavor offense, but let's not have that conversation again.
Kiora: Hey, Jace, you like Illusions, and you know I love sea monsters, right? Well I think we just had a baby. A big, beautiful, eight-legged baby.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
I'm not typically one to nay say, but a situationally better Benthic Giant that can temporarily gum up the board doesn't feel Mythic to me. If this were 1 cheaper and rare, I'd say it's passable.
It feels like it's missing something, like the ability to create more illusions, or giving illusions an anthem, or even just some evasion (hello, Islandwalk?). As it is, it feels bad man.
I started Magic during Lorwyn. Cards a lot better and cheaper at Rare value and almost nothing was dumbed down.
I think of Inkwell Leviathan and Wrexial from previous sets. Those were more mana but the effects were substantial and the creature themselves were more powerful and better sea creatures.
What we got here is a jank Mythic and an age of cards with dumbed down power levels. I miss when lightning bolt was in standard and we can play a game without worrying about overpowered cards and went with it.

Or maybe flash...
