You're right, I haven't. But I have played my share of aggro decks, and I usually don't want to spend a card and an early turn to make future creatures slightly better instead of applying immediate pressure by adding threats or removing blockers. Not to mention how bad it is to top deck. How is this card a legit thing? What am I not getting here? Are you talking about some slow RG monsters deck or EDH or something?
Fires of Yavimaya decks were great because you'd drop the enchantment turn 2, then turn 3 you could drop a Flametongue Kavu, Blastoderm, or Jade Leech with haste. You have to think about it differently. You could drop a 3/3 on turn 3. Or you could drop Fires on turn 3, and a 5/5 on turn 4. So you're would've got in 6 dmg, while I just got in 5? Except yours could have just died to Lightning Bolt or an opposing Flametongue Kavu. So now you got in 3. I dropped your creature with FtK and it is a 4/2 haste on top of it.
It's the cheapest way we had to give all of our creatures haste (until Anger came out), and now this is the way to give all of our creatures haste. I wouldn't say either is 100% better than the other, but a R/G aggro deck isn't the same as a R/G Fires deck.
What are they going to counter it with if you play it turn 2 on the play? Or even turn 3? Back in the day Counterspell and Force Spike were standard legal (also Foil and Daze ) and Fires was still the dominant deck. And this is quite a bit stronger than Fires of Yavimaya. The difference is that back in the day there was Saproling Burst and Flametongue Kavu, but there's quite a number of nasty critters this time around. And control is nowhere near as silly as it was back then.
This very much could rock standard hard. Especially since you have redundancy with that stupid goblin from M19 who comes down on turn 1 and as long as you're casting single dudes gives them all haste for when you don't draw the new Fires. If you're not playing multiple dudes per turn, and there doesn't seem to be a Saproling Burst replacement so you're likely not, it's not half bad of a settling hand. Since one of the new guys is uncounterable as-is and pretty pushed, there's a deck here for sure.
Oh, and lands are undescribeably stronger this time around. Back in the day there was only Karplusan Forest and City of Brass.
"Masques Block is the worst block ever! There's not one decent card in there! The whole internet say's so, you're literally the only person who ever said it was good!" - random noob in a conversation with an Eldrazi.
If you choose the +1/+1 counter with the crab elf, does it tutor another one? Or does the coming into play with the counter not count as putting a counter on it?
I have to be honest, I'm really excited about this card in standard. Just like many people, it reminds us of Fires of Yavimaya. But the reason of Fires successful was because of 8 1cmc mana dork, Llanowar Elves and Birds of Paradise to drop it on turn 2, avoiding Counterspell while on the play. The synergy of the cards in the deck was too good. T3 Blastoderm, T4 Saproling Burst, you have 17-power beaters.
Now, we only have Elves to ramp in turn 2. Not that consistent I think. Nullhide Ferox easily replaces Blastoderm but the whole deck still needs more consistency. I do hope we will have a really good RG deck in standard. All in all, I still like this card.
Your opponent could leave Fires of Yavimaya uncountered and save counter spells to counter the creatures you want to cast. They would be better off saving the counter spell for Flametounge Kavu. Fires is absolutely worthless unless you can get creatures on the board.
The opponent has to counter Rhythm of the Savages or else they can’t counter the creatures your going to cast, meaning your absolutely getting threats on the board to hit them with. Either now or stronger a turn later. And multiples of Rhythm stack. You can have one give haste and the rest give +1/+1 counters.

It tutors. The similar ruling on fathom mage...
If Fathom Mage enters the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it (perhaps due to Master Biomancer), its last ability will trigger once for each +1/+1 counter it entered the battlefield with.
I adore this callback to Invasion, and this is a great adaptation of Fires that fills a similar but distinct role. The callback is obvious, but they don't play the same. Jiyor is absolutely correct about how those distinctions will change how you should play Rhythm versus Fires and as well how playing against them is different.
I welcome this card, largely because I have a soft spot for cards that refer to my MtG heyday and present a playable update in their own right.
The problem with this card in Modern is that it's surprisingly easy in that format to kill all their threats. Not even the most viable 3-mana Haste granter, Hammer of Purphoros, sees any play despite being able to generate threats.
If Rhythm of the Savages sees any play in Modern, it's because it's an anthem of sorts. I suspect that any Persist aggro-combo decks with this will go the way of Solemnity combo (i.e. see barely any fringe play at best), but it won't stop brewers from brewing.

Except for the decks whose game plan for threat management includes countering some. After this lands those counters change from threat prevention to dead cards.
They still have Settle the Wreckage, Path to Exile, Lightning Bolt...this is a strong card but not sure if it's fast enough for Modern. Would Jund run this, for example? Or a Burn deck with a GR shock? \

Also i think i will build a Temur-Deck with this + Biomancer's Familiar and Growth-Chamber Guardian for the coming standrad season. Especially when Growth-Chamber Guardian can already trigger his tutor-effect when it hits the board thanks to riot!
I think if there is a chance at temur standard, it will revolve around this and vannifar for sure. Giving her haste is big game, especially if you're nabbing stuff from the library that has good ETBs already. Being able to get additional value out of dorks is just icing on the cake. Having Vannifar hit the board uncontested with priority to immediately use her is pretty gross. Especially if you're curving out with other utility dudes.
I could see the explore package showing up here in something like this. A heavy Vannifar package would even allow you to run off color sideboard cards like Knight of Autumn to break the mirror open, as eating an opposing enchantment would be big game.

Yeah, I wouldn't run Rhythm of the Savages in either deck. In Jund, I often sink 3 mana and a card--or, at the very least, a card--for close to nothing. Some say that pumping Goyfs can break mirrors: well, so do Kolaghan's Command and Liliana, the Last Hope. In Burn, I'd rather have a burn spell, an actual creature (Burn's creatures almost always have either Haste or the ability to deal direct damage to players), or that new cheap CA spell, Light Up the Stage. (Yes, Light Up the Stage has been a game-winner in Modern Burn.)
hmmm gruul or temur elves, I might be down for this.

Doesn't seem like much difference between the two options.
