"Whenever a nontoken creature enters the battlefield under your control, if it doesn't have the same name as a creature you control or a creature card in your graveyard, draw a card"
I wonder what this Guardian Project is. What is Simic up to in light of paranoia? Do they want to splice their members with different kind of creatures and use as "guardians"?

Spot on.
Vannifar's faction believes a war is coming, and they do everything to ensure the Simic are prepared for it, splicing sentient humanoids with different kinds of dangerous/powerful animals to create genetic supersoldiers.

Wish this costed 2G. Beast Whisperer is more vulnerable to removal, sure, but the Highlander clause is a pretty huge drawback by itself, nevermind it being a "nontoken ETB" trigger instead of a "cast" one. As-is, don't think there's much of a reason to brew with this in non-Highlander formats.
I think it was specifically designed to not work outside of commander. After that whole elfball thing they have been playing it safe on these kinds of effects.

I mean, toolbox decks in other formats can afford to run a bunch of random singletons as long as the tutors are good enough. Also, this works really well with Scavenging Ooze.

This aint your girlfriends meta! This is a man's meta! TURBO META.
This is pedantic, but the proper expression is that Vannifar is Pod on legs. Being on a stick typically refers to the stick, meaning that a normally one-shot effect is now repeatable. Vannifar put an effect that started out as repeatable onto a creature, so now Pod has legs.
