didn't think they'd be willing to put birthing pod on a stick but I guess it's harder to cast and more vulnerable to removal, at least main deck removal
Can someone help a brother understand.... WHY doesnt g/u get planeswalkers??! I was so looking forward to Vannifar being a walker.. as far as I can tell theres only been two green blue walkers EVER, Nissa and Kiora, and the last one was years ago =//// (althought admittedly this card is sick =D)
The only planeswalkers we got are from the Bolas-aligned guilds.

Still convinced the guy on Beseech the Queen is wearing a Mitra-type hat. Wake up sheeple!
So I guess this is insane in every format? As a commander it is so good it's almost boring.
It's more or less as good as Birthing Pod was, with the caveat that it's more vulnerable to removal.
Also cannot be used on turn 4 like Pod, unless you have a haste enabler. Added bonus though is that if you DO have a haste enabler, and it's a creature, you can Pod that creature away.
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Oh no.... this is going to make for some really long and unbearable commander games....
man.... someone will drop this, equip it with Lighting Greaves or Swiftfoot Boots and start search -> shuffle -> search -> shuffle their 100 cards deck....
damn, this is going to feel so bad I don't even have words to describe it.
someone is pairing this with Intruder Alarm on commander and losing every single friend ever, I'm sure.
So I guess this is insane in every format? As a commander it is so good it's almost boring.

It is impossible to remove from the game.
This card is really dumb.
That isn't true at all this this thing is really easy to stop.
no, it's not.
on commander, this will be crazy bananas....
you'll just drop it again and again and again, equip it with stuff like Lightning Greaves, etc, etc, etc.
on regular magic games, sure, you can get rid of it, but as a commander... specially one that allows for a TON of searching and shuffling, it will be hard to swallow.
Funny that Zegana, the peaceful ex leader of the guild, can slap the more "war/fighting" oriented new leader of the guild in both of her printings and survive

None of the opposing-color pairs get a lot of walkers. They're all at 2 or 3 different walker-types.
I was working on this before... if this christmasland scenario isn't bound to Simic color identity commander rules, you can make Karmic Guide your 5-rung and have it bring back Hippocamp for the untap to go to 6... then Sun Titan gets the Hippocamp to go to 7, then ... does Angel of Glory's Rise help?
I love her! Great way to capture the "evolution" aspect of the simic.
From the art book, she has mutated herself using ooze to look jellyfish like, which is a cool call back to Ravnica 1.

No, wait, sorcery timing clause means you can't really benefit from getting two waves of untaps.
What he described isn't "Christmasland". All that is needed is the Vannifar with the ability to activate, and a single creature. That's not hard to do in the slightest.

"I hope to have such a death... lying in triumph atop the broken bodies of those who slew me..."
You don't call "dying to removal" if the removal is more expensive in resources than the creature. If you have to spend BG (Abrupt Decay), or W + basic land (PtE) to remove a 1G, that is not "dying to removal". Strictly speaking Goyf dies to removal, but actually your removal is dying to Goyf.

Sure if you aren't playing disruption.
Because I'm sure you always have Force of Will, Pact of Negation, 4 counterspells, and a million mana every single turn, right?

You’ll run out of “disruption” we’ll before they run out of mana. Believing you’ll reliably be able to remove/disrupt a mana-less ability is a bit far fetched.
This card is pretty busted. I don’t like jumping on premature ban hammers, but this certainly looks the part. It just has all of the bad things that made PoK banned, but much worse.
Actually, I could seriously see this as being too centralizing in the format. Sit at the table, flip over commanders, table collectively goes “well, we can’t let him/her untap with that ever”.

I guess they took the Magus approach here (Magus of the Candelabra, Magus of the Balance, etc). Vannifar is Magus of the Pod.

Hopefully this gets banned in EDH in a hurry.
It's a turn slower than Pod & harder to cast, which matters a lot for formats like Modern.

Okay, the first one Prime Speaker Zegana needs a bit help, but still.
Thanks to DarkNightCavalier from Heroes of the Plane Studios for this sick Signature.

Token into quirion ranger into scryb ranger into deceiver exarch into breaching hippocampus into 5 drop from nowhere
...until you grab guardian of murasa (grab ranger to untap) into avenger of zendikar (get other ranger with sac) into craterhoof?
Some pretty explosive plays can be found here...

Oh, it sure does if Village Bell-Ringer and Sky Hussar were your 3 and 5s instead.
Sooooo:
token,use Van to sac for
Quirion Ranger, untap Van and sac for
Scryb Ranger, untap Van and sac for
Village Bell-Ringer, untap Van and sac for
Breaching Hippocamp, untap Van and sac for
Sky Hussar, untap Van and sac for
Sun Titan, returning Village Bell-Ringer to battlefield and untapping Van.
Van sacs Village Bell-Ringer for
Sparring Mummy, untap Van
Van sacs Sun Titan for
Angel of Glory's Rise, which brings back both Sky Hussar and Village Bell-Ringer. Both of those untap effects go on the stack...
And then the fun begins!
No, wait, sorcery timing clause means you can't really benefit from getting two waves of untaps.
Everything untaps. Twice. Then we proceed.
Van sacs Village Bell-Ringer (again!) for
Felidar Guardian, which returns and blinks Sky Hussar, and everything untaps again.
Van sacs Sky Hussar (again!) for
Wispweaver Angel, which blinks Angel of Glory's Rise and once again resurrects the Bellringer and the Hussar.
And everything untaps twice again.
So now we have Bellringer, Hussar, two angels (Wispweaver and Glory's Rise), and Van, all untapped...
