So, just checking here, but wouldn't Teysa NOT work with Afterlife? The creatures that have Afterlife are no longer permanents by the time the triggered ability hits the stack and is replaced with a secondary instance. They are in the graveyard, hence why Afterlife triggered. So why would Teysa work here? Or am I missing something?

If that were true, death/leaves the battlefield triggers wouldn't work at all, since permanent abilities do not function outside of the battlefield unless another zone is specified. The game uses something called last known information to allow such triggers to function, which allows Teysa to double other creatures' death triggers. When afterlife triggers, last known information says the creatures with afterlife were permanents on the battlefield, so Teysa copies their triggers.
Does this work with Haunt? As in, if the creature with Haunt dies, would it haunt two things? And would the creature it haunts dying trigger haunt twice?
Permanent is also used as shorthand for cards that could be on the battlefield, even if they aren't on the battlefield. (example: Selvala's Stampede)
Actually, no because Teysa specifies "permanents," not "permanent cards," as does Selvala's Stampede. The word "card" is huge when identifying a particular object. A [type] permanent, a [type] card, and a [type] spell have worlds of difference between them, rules-wise, even though they sound the same. Because Teysa specified permanents, not permanent cards, triggers generated by the likes of Bridge from Below will not be copied.
Well, sure, if they actually pay the life. I'm just so used to people not paying that I forgot. They usually say "Go ahead, keep it." in my group. And then wonder how I win with overwhelming card advantage. So, yes, she does work to make Athreos more painful.
So the question is will we get a good sac outlet or not? I’d take one that costs a mana. I don’t expect it to be free because surely WotC knows how busted those have a tendency to be.
The underrated Vampiric Rites was a decent one. I wouldn't mind seeing something like this on a creature this time around.
Does this work with Haunt? As in, if the creature with Haunt dies, would it haunt two things? And would the creature it haunts dying trigger haunt twice?
No, for two different reasons. The creature can't haunt two things, because part of Haunt involves "exile this card haunting target creature". So you'd be able to have two triggers, both targeting different creatures, but only one could successfully exile the card. So I believe, barring official word differently, it would function like academy rector and only haunt one of the two.
Regardless of how that interaction works, Haunt triggers from exile, so she can't double "when the haunted creature dies" triggers, as those are not triggers on permanents.
Whelp, looks like Obzedat's gone bye-bye. Guess we couldn't have expected them to stay around much longer with Kaya. This does make me less certain the third set will have a full cycle of Guild legends, though. Hopefully Feather at least will show up to help fight Bolas' forces.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
You don't call "dying to removal" if the removal is more expensive in resources than the creature. If you have to spend BG (Abrupt Decay), or W + basic land (PtE) to remove a 1G, that is not "dying to removal". Strictly speaking Goyf dies to removal, but actually your removal is dying to Goyf.
So the question is will we get a good sac outlet or not? I’d take one that costs a mana. I don’t expect it to be free because surely WotC knows how busted those have a tendency to be.
Question now answered in part. We have been spoiled a one-generic-mana sac outlet in Pitiless Pontiff.
Could this be? Could this finally be an Orzhov commander I'm actually interested in playing?
MY PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED AT LAST.
Just be wary of how many hoops you're gonna need to jump.
Step 1: Build Aristocrat style deck
Step 2: Add Teysa Karlov to said Aristocrats deck
Step 3: Profit.
You're welcome
My point is an arisocrats deck needs A)
creatures dying, B) Sac Outlets and C) things with death triggers. She only works when the engine already online and does nothing to help turn the engine online. She's kind of win-more. Id rather just play OG Teysa in the zone as she counts for both B) and C). Personally I'm going to make Judith who helps turn the entine on by being a C

I see your point, she doesn't directly contribute to the engine so her value lies in whether she advances the win. I think what keeps Teysa from being win more is when she factors directly into the gameplan. If your path to victory is something like Poison-Tip Archer or Judith (or potentially abusing Afterlife, but jury's still out there), she halves the time it takes to take out an opponent which can be vital. Teysa doubles the value of death triggers, and the mileage you get out of that is whether the triggers she doubles are themselves impactful to winning games.
It looks like Teysa has grown up a little since her previousinceptions. Love the artwork on her. Looks more...refined than emo.
Also less secksy. Tajic gets blinged up and Teysa drapes herself in repurposed window curtains. Figures.

No. Academy Rector is worded:
When Academy Rector dies, you may exile it. If you do, search your library...
It'll trigger twice. But you can only exile it once. Only one of the two triggers will be satisfied that you exiled it to that trigger.
Wouldn't they have to pay 6 life to keep it out of your hand? The effect still triggers twice right?

Mostly, I'm just relieved she isn't better than Kaya 1.0 (which I just bought last week).
