Tithe Taker 1W
Creature – Human Soldier
During your turn, spells your opponents cast cost 1 more to cast and abilities your opponents activate cost 1 more to activate unless they’re mana abilities.
Afterlife 1 (When this creature dies, create a 1/1 white and black Spirit creature token with flying)
2/1
Afterlife X probably means you will get X Spirits as opposed to a single X/X spirit (for simplicity's sake), but flavorfully, that makes no sense beyond X=1.
... Unless the ones with Afterlife 2 and above are spirit handlers or something...
Looks like Doomed Travler is now a mechanic. Seems strong for limited since the tokens can fly.

"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
Your opponent playing control really wanted to cast Teferi on turn 5 but *you* are the one who said "no".
The tax is only in effect on YOUR turn, so they are free to cast Teferi on turn 5. The thing is now they can't cast Teferi on turn 5 and still have Negate/Seal Away mana up, because those cards will cost 1 extra.
Still a very good card but it is much more narrow than Thalia, Guardian of Thraben to make up for having Afterlife and not being Legendary.

Crap--you're right. I got ahead of myself. *shrug* No worries.
Afterlife also really works well with convoke (since it keeps creatures on your side), mentor (I guessing Afterlife creatures will be smaller and the tokens are 1/1 so your mentor creature can give them counters) and the graveyard stuff Undergrowth and Surveil put in.

Also thought the same thing, until I remembered DT's token is monowhite.
I saw, I was most talking about game play-wise.
No updated, cleaner rules text in future
They don't tend to do that anyways outside of evergreen mechanics, like all the "not landfall" cards there are.

I suppose Afterlife 2+ cards will depict groups of people.
Which is an evergreen keyword action. Set specific keywords are different as 5colors points out with not-landfall.
Afterlife 2+ cards could be groups, or Thrulls with multiple souls literally trapped inside them, or Orzhov nobles whose indebted servants follow them in ghostly existence.
Something that keeps bothering me about Orzhov, though, is that they don't seem to have a very clear mechanical identity. I thought that Gatecrash settled them pretty firmly into lifegain, but even in spite of Extort (which I like much more than Afterlife, especially in the same set as Spectacle), the guild seems to be all over the place. First it was a death trigger mechanic, then it was a lifedrain mechanic, and now it's a death trigger mechanic again. And there are tons of other random archetypes represented throughout each set: sacrifice, reanimator, exile, recursion, tokens, attrition, etc. There was a subtle lifegain theme throughout, but it was muddied up by the various other themes.
So what the heck is Orzhov's mechanical identity???
I admit it's not very clear, but Orzhov is always probably the durdliest guild.
What does that make Azorius????
Also controlly, but they tend to be more specifically the "lockdown" guild?
Some of the guilds are just more strongly delineated than others; Selesnya is very obviously go-wide, Simic is +1/+1 counters matter, Golgari is reanimator, and Izzet is spellslinging, but what the heck is Dimir? They're kind of split between being the mill guild and the saboteur guild.
Afterlife is neat. Works with Undergrowth while giving you extra creatures. Creatures that can be Mentored, no less. And tap to Convoke. And yeah, I'm guessing the Afterlife number indicates how many tokens to create, as then they only need the one 1/1 Spirit token.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.

So Afterlife + Divine Visitation seems nice.
Funny choice for a mechanic after Kaya has taken over
