Another Rakdos redesign...
More dragons...
Alot of azorious drones...
More veldaken (i like that, sad that ravnica's veldaken are just blue skin humans)
Domri Rade looks more awful than before. At least he has a boar pet.
more orzhov vampires...
Alot of disconected phrases...
Simic is doing more biomechanic enxerts or better augments...
wizards must get better people to make trailers. This one sucked hard. but i guess this is just a filer set to put the other 5 guilds before the final batle(last set).
This trailer sucked because Ravnica freaking sucks. And so do its "fans."
Man, the original Innistrad and Theros trailers blew me away. Avacyn Restored, Journey to Nyx, etc. Those were the golden age of MTG trailers. Not this disjointed marketing crap. And to think we're in the era of story involvement. BFZ actually had a good trailer too. I don't know what this nonsense is.

I'll admit that Innistrad and Theros trailers are better, but Ravnica is one of the best planes WotC ever created. Ravnica sucks? And its fans? The guilds are brilliant concept, people are connecting to them in a deep level, ans some players even have tattoes with their favorite guild. I don't know... Seems kinda harsh.

I agree Nu-Ravnica sucks, but I bet you haven't even played the game yet when the original one came out. The best set of all time, without a doubt.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
I have to agree though, the trailer wasn't very good. These are much more interesting when they tell some kind of story. This was just random vagueries.

It is the same as every other set trailer, a bunch of quick flashes to half CGI rendered crap that doesn't tell us anything that is actually in the set or is going to happen lore wise.

Wow. I hope you get at least some sort of warning for this post. I know I’ve gotten them for less. What sort of life do you lead that would compel you to go online and insult a whole group of people just because they enjoy something? Many of us, I’d bet yourself included, have been dealing with that kind of ********ry all our lives and I know I don’t want to come here and find one of our own doing it.

I go around insulting IP, not individual people on a personal level. How's life on that soapbox, sis?
I find it to be a shallow setting. The fact a substantial part of its popularity hinges on Shockland reprints is pretty mediocre. That said, the cards themselves have been impressive, while the trailer showcased my point. Other than "here are the guilds again" what did you get out of it? Without Bolas on the horizon, there really isn't anything impressive here. Jace's absence could be a thing, but the trailer doesn't explore that either. The new Livinia card is the first promise of a relevant plot point, which was spoiled after my post.

I agree that these two sets are a bit of a letdown, mostly giving us stuff we've already had before and some of it so compacted together (Hybrids and Splits) that it feels like there's less substance in this "block" than previous Ravnica sets.
Ravnica as a setting does lack the visceral depth of a plane like Innistrad or Theros, but that works in its favor. It's a figurative box of assorted chocolates with just the right flavors for mostly everyone to get what they want. It's also all surface-level, allowing the player to project their own impression of the world onto what they see without being explicitly taught the history or obscurities of the place.
I understand why you're not a fan just as I'm sure you'll understand why I don't care all that much for Theros. Everyone has different tastes than everyone else, and that's fine.
But saying that both Ravnica and its "fans" suck is pretty toxic.

It's part of my "tell us how you really feel" humor, but ultimately, fans is in quotations for a reason. I'd prefer we return to Ravnica because people actually enjoy it, over the superficial reasons I think people want to return (shocklands, gold cards, perceived power level). A third return here when some planes haven't had any yet is upsetting, especially when all it has delivered thus far is more of the same shallow gimmick. That said, the noir aspect of Lavinia and Dimir has been somewhat interesting, if they're actually going to play up the plot of Jace's absence and Bolas on the horizon more, which we've has only been surface level so far... I was counting on the showdown to really carry this block, but so far, I'm really confused how we got this far before Lavinia showed up with any indication that there's more at work there. I can admire the subtle approach, but IDK.
That said, this block so far has been better than Return to Ravnica. I'd say it's closer to the original. But that's my opinion of the cards, not the trailer.

We're getting these first two sets more out of obligation than anything else. They're just setups for the third set. Not even so much first and second acts as they are a pair of establishing camera shots in a movie. They aren't here to really tell the story yet, just to give players what they expect from a set on Ravnica before we get things we don't expect.
And I don't know how many people actually only like Ravnica for the Shocklands and power level, but I can't imagine that it's a huge percentage. I personally was hoping for different lands and don't particularly care about tournament power level. I just like the set structure and the concept of color combo factions. And, yes, I'll admit that I'm partial to gold sets (when they're done right).
So I think it's unfair to say that people don't actually enjoy Ravnica and that the popular aspects of it are superficial. Ravnica just isn't as much about the story as the sets you seem to gravitate toward. It's about giving players an in-game identity.
And just to be clear, I'm talking more about the sets themselves. The trailers have both been pretty bad imo, but I really don't care about trailers all that much. Now if WotC really wants to get my attention, they should do what Smash did for the Palutena reveal and give us fully animated trailers. THAT would get me hyped.
I think part of the reason why the first few sets feel rather bland this time around is because they're doing "block" novels again. Normally we'd have some story articles by now, but they can't really undercut the storytelling of their own upcoming novel (although some of it is inevitable since we see key story points on the cards). That being said, I think the "filler" stories on the Mothership were done pretty well. They're kind of similar to the old Kamigawa vignettes in that they tell self-contained stories that aren't really relevant to the main plot, with the difference being that the Kamigawa vignettes were about "legends" opposed to the "random dudes" in the Ravnica short stories.
