Sure because if you play simic ascendancy, that must be your only win condition. It's the rule
it's not like atraxa decks can win in many other ways and this one is just a 2-mana enchantment that promotes the gameplan and can also be a win condition, no no
Care to elaborate on the other points i made or are you just going to go for the one that makes you feel awesome? Please enlighten me on the other alt win-cons for Atraxa that aren’t infect that are more reliable. The ones where multiple opponents just let it happen for 💩 & giggles. Cause apparently Commander players never join up against a player sporting a win con Nope they never do anything like kill creatures at all in Commander, just happily sit by while you drop +1/+1 counters on them and build up an alt-win con

Firewheeler feels like the new Flametongue Kavu, lots of two toughness creatures to hit.
The Haunt is not bad, in fact it might be really good. The fact it grows as cards are played from your opponent, grows when attacking, and has lifelink means it is a must kill creature before long.
Growth Spiral is just Explore.
Mortify is always a good reprint. Simic Ascendancy is great in commander, a way to pump up creatures while being an alternate win con itself is a nice double threat.

Growth Spiral looks good, hopefully a good staple, but it couldn't possibly be Mortify or Lightning Helix good.
That Ascendancy card just has me a bit upset. I really didn't want Simic to have another +1/+1 theme. I guess if it's actually a good and fun mechanic? We'll see, but I remain skeptical.

ME WANTS MY GRUUL! *bangs on desk*
Dinousaurs are probably impossible at this point, so just something with haste and some harsh punishment for control players...:D
Probably not getting Dino’s but however ripscale predator is a dinosaur
So Dino’s on ravnica is a thing just probably the same par as dominaria though
And mark even mention depending on the plane we can get black and blue dinosaurs
That is a good read, I mean its gotta be cheap enough. But oh boy does that sound broken in Red Decks for Modern.
Smuttny's read is no good, there's no way spectacle is that easy to enable. Worse, it can't be so easily synergistic with Shock in the format. If it has anything to do with a player dealt damage or a creature dying, there must be a drawback or a difficult threshold to attain.
The two cards are playable until the end of the next turn, which means there's no reason for the conditions to be "cheap enough".

That is massively better. You can't EOT explore and drop an additional land. But you sure can with the simic one.
The difference between Explore and this is so minor they might as well be the same card. Dropping a land on your opponents turn only helps landfall triggers and little to nothing else. In the end you will still have 4 lands on turn 3. Sure with this you can leave up your mana for a potential counterspell, but really this card does about as much as Explore.
I think of the card as WoTCs extremely nerfed version of Manamorphose, as it lets you bring the land in untapped to get another spell off while also drawing you a card. So Phoenix decks get better. It also doesn't work with Runaway Steam-kin, unfortunately. I would have loved it if it did.
1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
Spectacle, the new Rakdos keyword, gives spells an alternative cost. You can cast a spell for its spectacle cost if an opponent lost life during the turn. On some cards, the alternative cost is a discount, a reward for hurting your opponents. For other cards, such as Rix Maadi Reveler and Rafter Demon, the spectacle cost is higher, but there's an additional reward for paying that cost. Paying a spectacle cost is always optional, even if an opponent lost life that turn.
You are still limited to the timing of the card, so no casting sorceries during your opponent's turn (unless you have some effect which allows you to do so, of course).
My guess for Spectacle is "You may cast this card for its spectacle cost as long as an opponent was dealt damage this turn"
You were *very* close to it--excellent call. I was going to wait for the official definition, myself, when I just happened to see it a few minutes ago.

I also thought this prior to the mechanic reveal. But my guess is that Light Up the Stage is an unusually pushed example of the mechanic, since it is very, very easy to achieve.

I was going to reply to my own post yesterday and change damage to life loss because that makes more sense with black, but I forgot. Glad I almost nailed it though. I figured it would be something like that because of Rakdos from return to Ravnica
Yeah, she seems busted alright. She is absolutely insane in edh, and shuts down more then a few commanders...
I am just not getting it. How many times are people casting things for free? Which Commanders does she shut down? The main one I can think of is Animar when he makes the creature spells cost 0.
Basically, it makes it so Sol Ring and rocks can't ramp early if she comes down, but once they have enough lands, they just cast 2 or more spells with that mana instead of casting one big spell. I see others saying she is good and maybe it is just the meta I play in, but I can't see her really being all the relevant in most games to the point where she is a game changer.

Shouldn't affect Animar. 0 casting cost is still paying the casting cost (which is 0). Narset is a big one that it would affect or anything that lets you "cast a spell without paying its mana cost".

I feel compelled to point out that paying 0 is still "paying no mana".
(Of course, if Animar is "only" reducing stuff to one mana, she's useless)

Think Cascade, Jeleva, Rashmi etc.
Fair enough, but it still seems narrow. Unless your meta has a lot of that kind of stuff, it doesn't seem great. At the very least "insane" might be a bit over the top. But, if your meta is "infested" with things like that and they have a hard time removing a 2/2 she can be alright, I just don't see her being any more than a mild hindrance against those types of decks.
Obviously this is very dependent on the meta though so I am sure there are people who will get a lot of mileage out of her. And I am open to the idea that I am undervaluing her so I will certainly evaluate my games to determine if there is any time I feel she can be useful to see if she can earn a spot in any of my decks
Another nice 2-drop legend, one that blows Gaddock Teeg out of the water. Azorius Renegade, eh? Looks like she's on the run. Does this mean she's becoming the Batman of Ravnica? Is she the hero Ravnica deserves, but not the one it needs right now?
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.

Explore has a completely different function.
It allows you to PLAY an additional land.
This new cards PUTS the land into play.
That is massively better. You can't EOT explore and drop an additional land. But you sure can with the simic one.
nice to see GU *finally* getting some love on par with Mortify or Lightning Helix!

Control needs more love.
