Holy cow. Vengefull rebirth's art is stunning! Keep up the good work Seb!
That one's easily my favorite new art in the set. Seb McKinnon's been knocking them out of the park lately.
I also just now noticed the new wording on Dark Depths. It now literally tells you to "create Marit Lage", which is quite possibly one of the most epic things imaginable.

Interesting cards. It might be one of few times a pack is worth buying or two. I'd still rather just buy the originals. Particularly at this price point.

Well, that's 7 Masters sets and they still haven't reprinted Rings of Brighthearth. Boo. We also didn't get any of the Mirrodin swords, or a Mox (though that would probably have to be mythic) or Lotus. Also no Heroic Intervention, no Reflecting Pool, no Thrun, the Last Troll, no Balefire Liege, no Darksteel Plate, no Glimmervoid, no Asceticism, no Riku of Two Reflections, no Selvala, Heart of the Wilds, no Lighthouse Chronologist, no Baneslayer Angel, no Khalni Hydra, no Training Grounds, no Wurmcoil Engine, no Argothian Enchantress, no Master Transmuter, no Sakashima, no Tooth and Nail, no Waves of Aggression, no Paradox Engine...what we did get is a start, but didn't somebody say that with Masters on hiatus, they'd be doing reprints through a new and different avenue instead (in additional to putting them in Conspiracy, Battlebond, and Commander sets)? I hope we get some news about that soon.

On Thrun, the Last Troll i have to say i miss that in there too but i guess they don't want hin in the set. But a reprint is probably on the horizon (new frame, revisiting phyrexia (and new phyrexia) being a sought after cart) imo they will reprint hin in the next 2 years, may be in a booster set or a preconstructed deck
Wow...I feel dissapointed. Way too much draft archetypes matter cards and not enough wanted cards. So many misses at uncommon and common.
Really kinda bummed about this. I had hopes and some confidence they were going to do this one right.....I should have known

Been a member here for over a dozen years. Playing since '95 just got lost in the twitch shuffle.
The best reprint we didn't know about was.....Anger? I like the card, especially the art that doesn't have the weird naked baby lookin' thing, but that doesn't bode well.
The new art is collectively amazing. Vengeful Rebirth - Seb does it again. Should be a rule that Seb can only paint cards in my Commander deck colors though Anyone catch Kondama's Reach art? Love the Cedars
I'm happy Angelic Renewal is finally in the new border. Serra's Blessing when. Was looking forward to Long-Term Plans as well, but at least we got Frantic Search.
Man Rhystic Study dodges yet another year of Masters and Commander sets... Then again, that card should be banned in Commander anyway IMO.
The set is ok. They missed many opportunities to crash the price on stuff like Oubliette, Three Visits, Food Chain or just reprint staples like Path and Bolt.
Our lgs is selling at $299.99 CDN and I don't expect that to hold, It looks too high risk to do anything but wait for stores to open crates to buy for singles.

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).
Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.
I think this set is a LOT better than people think, and a lot of people will regret not getting in on it.
People remember MM17 very fondly, but it was mostly a bust at the common/uncommon slots. It had three money cards: Path, Inquisition and Serum Visions, and two of those had just been reprinted months earlier in Conspiracy 2.
There is a “recency” effect in place here. The spoilers seem somewhat underwhelming because an insane amount of value was spoiled weeks ago when the box toppers were revealed.
The boxes are not bad at all for 250-260 dollars. It really depends on how much value people put in the foils from the set and the box toppers. It's still going to have a hard time holding a 330 msrp a box and they are printing a lot of it.
Keep in mind that the singles sellers only need to piece out about 260-270 dollars worth of value from the singles to make profit off of arbitrage if the price per box from the distributor is 210 dollars. That's not very hard to do with this set on a mass opening and eventually all the value is going to drop to that 210 or below mark if there is a lot of product out there. That isn't including whatever people are opening for draft and from just buying a box for funzies.
1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
The set is ok. They missed many opportunities to crash the price on stuff
Wizards will not crash prices. They cannot publicly acknowledge the secondary market, but it is evident by the way they handle their reprint equity that they do care about secondary market prices to some extent.

They could do it, just that trying to sell a story of love and friendship to a for profit company is like trying to be a Vegan at an all meat company barbecue.

FWIW, everyone is saying this isn’t the case and that this will have a smaller print run than the last 2-3 sets.
Boxes here are about 230€. I think it's fine.

Countersquall nice reprint
Blast of Genius or Reviving Vapors + Eldrazi = fun
Mistveil Plains nice reprint
Ulamog's Crusher's flavor text = "get over it, the eldrazi are dead and they will stay dead, we will feast on your tears and we will do it again and again, may it be bolas, or phyrexians"
Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker looks really good with all those persist creatures, glad there is some tramplers in the format.

Like the new art for Kodama's Reach.
We finally get a 6/6 black wurm token. Didn't have that before.
Yep, no reason for this set to have had $14 packs, and barely a reason for $10 packs.

Remember what happened with MM1?
They could have put a $7.99 price tag on it. And the stores would mark up to what the market would bear. Which would likely be $12-14 anyway.
The same Master sets with a low print run? I believe that contribute to price increase.
However, I also like that they kept the Rebecca Guay art for Angelic Renewal.
