According to a friend that has been tapped as a Norse mythology expert by WotC, there will be a Norse/viking inspired Magic set released in the next two years. Given what he told me regarding when he was contacted and what I know about set design schedules, 2020 seems more likely than 2019. New god creatures are all but a given.
I'm not placing a ton of trust on "some guy told me that it will happen at some vague point in time", especially since it has been a popular request/spec for a long while... but it's not a highly unlikely candidate for a setting. Now that they've done silly stuff like pirates and dinosaurs, everything feels possible.
As a Norwegian, I dread the thought of a viking set, as I mostly associate vikings with cheap tourist store crap and lame history assignments in middle school. For me personally it will feel tacky for sure, there's just no way to pull it off. But I'm sure it will look cooler for mostly the rest of the world, it's just a personal gripe.

Stay reasonable, be mindful of your expectations and don't feed the trolls.
I hope that snow will return, but i guess it won't
It would fit a potential Norse theme. I hope there are Giants and cool equipment or artifacts. Do you think some Norse gods/legends could be constructed into Planeswalkers, like Odin and maybe an antagonist Ymir? I personally like Norse mythology and the landscapes of their region.
It would also support creature types that are used in MtG. Dwarves in Norse are sometimes referred to as dark Elves, so could span RBG depending on the angle they want to take. Vanir are like wizards (U). Elves (G). Giants live in mountains and dense forests (RG). Humans would likely stay white. Valkyries would take on the angel model and mainly white. There is enough substance to create a world.

They don't use characters from existing history or lore like that, they create new ones that are inspired by the "real" ones. So no Thor, but some new bad ass character named Theo that has a magical axe and... Well, you get the idea. See the gods in Amonkhet and Theros blocks for reference.

Saskia is more celtic/gaul since she is on the same plane of Licia, sanguine tribune and her romanesque conquerors, so i don't know.

There is nothing official saying Licia and Saskia are on the same plane fyi, just a few good theories.

“There are no weak Jews. I am descended from those who wrestle angels and kill giants. We were chosen by God. You were chosen by a pathetic little man who can't seem to grow a full mustache"
"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
Eh. I'd rather return to Theros than have a third pantheon pushing the return back even further. Unless WOTC does some sort of god matters theme and wants more gods in standard...
There was a time when I would've been excited about news like this, but looking at the newer "inspired by [culture]" sets like Theros, Amonkhet or Ixalan and my responses to them, I can't say I'm all too enthusiastic. I expect a Theros-like reskinned pantheon with lots of "resonant" tropes thrown into the mix (I bet they won't do horned helmets though, because "vikings didn't actually wear those" has reached a similar level of memetic prominence as "dinosaurs had feathers"). On the other hand, I do like cold and "northern" settings in a more general sense, so I hope they'll find some room for creativity. I'd like to see a return of Snow, but I doubt it'll happen.
I mean what is the Fall Set then? Winter 2019 is Ravnica Allegiance, Summer 2019 is Ravnica Bolas Saga End, so Fall is?
But yeah a bit late on the Viking Set. Granted I didn't like how Amonkhet Ended, we get Egyptian Mythology and we get a dying plane, one city and all the Gods corrupted by Bolas. I mean gee thanks doesn't really make coming back easy.
You call saying "meh" a critique? A critique means detailed analysis, which is impossible given zero information.
Ever since Innistrad successfully channeled Gothic horror tropes, they've been big on world building around "resonance": Egyptian, Greek mythology, age of discovery, etc. They were bound to get around to revisiting Viking/Norse more fully. Some early Ice Age art drew on its influences (for example), but it's been long enough to give it a proper treatment, just as early Arabian Nights didn't rule out Amonkhet. I'm not sure a perceived Viking/Norse trend from a few years back would be as much a motivator as just trying to expand to incorporate as many types of cultural fantasy as possible. (Btw, you could have added Thor to the list.)

On MTGO as Protoman.
On 7/14/10, broke 1900 mark! <3 ROE.
-I certainly hope for snow covered lands in this, but I'm sure it won't be in here.
-I do wonder if Viking will be an official creature type rather than using barbarian/warrior. I would not be for this, like how they made naga an actual type rather than just using snake.
-More potential gods is a bit annoying. I do get that Norse mythology has a lot of them, but it's not all that amazing anymore.
New Lovisa? Thinking new extra attack step cards or Raid mechanics. Lots of combat heavy attack triggers. Perfect reprint opportunity for snow lands again (possibly as full-art for more casual selling appeal to the set).

I don't to write an essay or use oxford-level english every time i post on salvation
skyrim came out more than 2 years ago
got was big 2 years and will be probably be big again this spring and summer
with this informations i can say their timing could be better
Magic sets don't to be released along with video games and popular shows that might share thematic crossovers.
But doing so would help the selling, not that hard to understand
Well we got those GoT Prequel or Successor Shows right. One of those gets big enough if it could work. WOTC moves slowly sure but yeah they had plenty of time even on a 5 year time scale to capitalize on GoT or Skyrim with all the remasters.
I'm all for it. Hope it happens. Bring back Snow-lands (Snow permanents) and Ripple while they are at it.

Hrm.
So vehicles that are boats, and this set will be a huge disappointment without incarnations of Odin, Freyja, Loki, Asgard, etc. etc.
And some kind of tribal theme to top it off.

I'm not really knowable about Skyrim, but GoT is a mix of things with only has some aspect being nordic, so I don't get this complainant.

Yes because we are always the most hungry after a meal. Don't confuse disagreeing with not understanding. Did GoT get you excited for Amonkhet?
