I'm still holding out on a Phyrexian Altar reprint in Ultimate Masters at either Rare or Mythic since it recently climbed to $55.00.
It can't be a mythic as all mythics have been revealed (all of them also have a Box Toppers version)
I just assumed that there might be more Mythics in Ultimate Masters that we still didn't know about but since there's only 40 (which were already spoiled as box topper variants) that only leaves what's remaining in the Rare, Uncommon, and Common slots.

There are ‘only’ 20 mythics in UMA (I say only because even 20 is 5 more than the usual for a masters set). Of the 40 box toppers, 20 are in the actual set as mythics, 18 as rares, and 2 as uncommons.
Anything that doesn't see play in a 75 card format gets obliterated by reprints. Look at Reshadan port or karakas for examples of this. For this set to hold water they need the big guns.
Both of those see play in 75 card formats... In fact, Karakas is banned in Commander for obvious reasons.

I'm probably one of the minority, or silent majority, but I'd rather they save these reprints for a core set instead of for auxiliary products like this. If they want their product to sell, throw it in an affordably priced product like a core set or expert-level set.
It will never happen because said cards are "too strong" for Standard environments, which is chaff if you ask me, but hey one can dream can't they?

Edit: I'm with Ryperior in wanting Goblin Lore to be reprinted.

I think we could likely have both. Cards generally aren't actually 'too strong for Standard' they're just too expensive to put in packs they can't charge more for. Eventually things like Tarmogoyf that get regular reprints will be $40 or so, and then they will MAGICALLY be not too strong for Standard.
While true some $60 cards do get reprinted in standard but bare in mind reprints in this set involves stuff with mechanics we will never return to
For example the old eldrazi annihilator maro said that was a terrible mistake bane of bala ged was the closest we can get

Ah okay, so I was actually wrong and because of the weakness of legacy Karakas got annihilated when it was reprinted just once in Eternal Masters. It was 115 dollars on first reprint and went all the way down to 35 dollars at it's lowest. Now it's getting another reprint, so we will get to see potentially 15-20 dollar Karakas. Rishadan Port went from a 60 dollar card to a 20 dollar card on reprint. Imperial Recruiter was over a hundred easily, and now can be had for 30 dollars.
That means the only cards that could hold this set up are all modern cards or cards that see extensive modern and legacy play.

I think we need to keep in mind that this is going to be the last Masters set that we'll see in the foreseeable future. As for what we could see reprinted in Ultimate Masters that hasn't been spoiled yet here's some really good guesses:

There’s a lot of mythic rates on that list of “really good guesses” and no more mythics in the set...
True though it wouldn't surprise me If the cards I listed end up getting downgraded to Rare or Uncommon for Ultimate Masters at the very least.

When’s the last time they printed a planeswalker sub Mythic?
Oh yeah, before mythics existed.
On one hand that's a good point, but on the other hand, I wouldn't put too much faith in precedent. WotC can do whatever they want, and precedents are made to be broken.
For example, when's the last time they printed a set with a $13.99 MSRP?
When's the last time they used an uncommon as a Buy-A-Box promo? (Kitchen Finks, Eternal Witness).

None of which are particularly indicative of the odds of Ugin, the Spirit Dragon or Jace, the Mind Sculptor getting their rarity dropped to rare. If every mythic in the set has been spoiled while excluding certain expensive mythic rare cards, the logical conclusion is that the excluded cards are not in the set rather than having been downgraded. The only cards on that list with a non-zero chance of a rarity downgrade are Monastery Mentor, Titania, Protector of Argoth, and maybe Time Warp or Show and Tell.

Your evaluation of the card pricing is no accurate. While you can get a playable copy for around those prices, the original versions did not fall to the prices you listed. The original printing of Rishadan Port in MM was around a $100, today it sits at about $50. Karakas from Legends had an all time high of around $180, but today is at about $80. Imperial Recruiter was almost $300 at one point, but today, the original Portals printing is about $120.
The reprinted versions are considerably less, but quoting those prices in your comparison is a little dishonest. Also, you have to consider that many of these cards, like most MTG cards, have their ups and downs in popularity. For example, there was a point in Legacy where one of the most powerful decks revolved around winning off Emrakul, the Aeons Torn, so Karakas was very popular at that time. As the meta shifted away from that, so to did the demand for Karakas.
The same could be said about an Alpha Shivan Dragon, you wouldn't say the price fell to $0.25 when it was printed in M19 from it's $1,300 price point at it's Alpha printing. While an Alpha Shivan Dragon plays the same as a M19 version almost 99% of the time, the two are basically totally different cards. You would need to compare the printing of an M15 and M19 version to get a better understanding of the price changes.

True, but I'm talking from a slightly different perspective. The idea is to pack a set with cards that can rebound well even with a newer copy of the older card. If the new version just nose dives into oblivion than that is a gross miscalculation on wizards part since the idea is that they want the boxes they sell to distributors to actually sell at a certain percentage of the MSRP. If the contents of the box drop in value really fast, the distributors get stuck with the boxes since the smaller stores can't get any buyers.
Still +1 for stating that flat out. It's true that the value of the older cards will hold a lot of the time since they are unique.

It's going to have to be supplementary sets for the really rough mechanics. Plus, I don't think they are stopping reprint sets entirely, just they might back off to half reprint supplementary sets that they can charge less per box for. 100% reprint sets are hard to sell to established players because they already have the cards and they are hard to sell to new players just because the packs get priced so high. That and a lot of people like myself do not like opening packs because of having to find elaborate ways to eliminate all the garbage that the packs contain.

Then again, there is no law requiring WOTC price masters boxes as high as they are. People keep pointing to MM1 and saying "see the stores just hoarded it and jacked up the price, it has to be expensive!" No, that's not how economics ******* works at a macro level. WOTC could balance out the old supply vs demand graph at a price point of $100 per box by PRINTING MORE OF IT. But they don't. The idea that some force prevents an increased or unlimited run is wrong. There is only one reason these runs are limited - to protect investors, both individuals and stores, from taking a bath. Even though the stores end up selling the boxes and making up the money from the decreased singles prices...
You wanna avoid this shenanigans? Artifact comes out in two weeks. I'm looking forward to diving into that full-force.

But that's the whole point. You can't look at it like that. Even if WotC ended the reserved list and filled the set full of new art ABU duals and P9 cards (some of the most desirable cards ever printed), those cards would be worth considerably less than the original printings. That said, I'm not sure WotC could pick any card, that has never seen a modern printing, and print it in a new set with the expectation that it would hold similar pricing to the original version.
What examples can you give, of an old card, that would hold it price or rebound well after a modern day printing? Or what old cards would you suggest that could hold/rebound their price?

Are people here really saying that? I remember MM1 as being so limited in its printing that stores were only getting like 5-10 boxes each and that was it. There wasn't enough product to horde.

It was pretty bad, I remember even here on this site people were arguing over how the EV and the extremely limited print run created a perfect ***** storm. The people with revenue bought as much as possible and then flipped it for profit, they pretty much doubled their money without having to open a single pack. It was a scalper's perfect product.
And that really is the problem outside of the game that I have an issue with, Modern is so expensive to play and there really is no excuse for that. It only hurts the player base and the LGS.

Generally, the enemy fetchlands, JTMS, Karn, Cavern of Souls, Lightning Bolt, Path to Exile, etc, are all cards that even the new cards will hold a higher value than something like back to basics or Imperial Recruiter. The reason for this is kind of strait forward: The modern crowd cares about the card for gameplay, not necessarily for it's printing. That's why older, non-unique art prints of things like Tarmogoyf are far closer together than something like Karakas.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
