Punisher cards are fun, and you might be able to use this to whip your dinosaurs.
Probably narrow for a Standard deck to use more than 1 or 2 though, even then...

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).
Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.
Don't have all the creatures for GRN yet, but in the other post-rotation sets for Standard this card will kill about 74% of those creatures and I don't expect that number to change significantly once we have all the full spoiler. That makes this removal spell about as effective as Lightning Strike, which also kills 74% of creatures in post-rotation Standard. As noted, though, this will kill larger creatures and should make for a decent choice both in Limited and probably Standard. At the very least it is a significant improvement over Inner Struggle.
Hey I’m newish to Magic but how would this work against an opponents Gisela. Would it double or half? My friend runs her as a commander so I’m curious. Thanks!

Gisela would be the source, and she would be dealing damage to herself, which is a permanent you control.
So she would deal 2 damage to herself.
So Golgari can kill anything for the same CMC...but Boros gets a worst Path to Exile?
Leaving aside that this doesn't exile, doesn't hit all creatures (except for those with relevant abilities, such as protections, shroud, hexproof, Brisela, Voice of Nightmares, Iona, Shield of Emeria set to white), costs two mana in two different colors, and doesn't give your opponent a land (but conversely can't turn a 1/1 into a land), is "worse Path to Exile" really that bad? Oh, hey, Treasure Cruise is absolute ***** because it's a worse Ancestral Recall.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
That argument is ridiculous. A vanilla 0/1 that costs 5 cmc would unquestionably be "a worse Ornithopter" and it wouldn't get played but that would have nothing to do with it being worse than Ornithopter. It wouldn't get played because it's not providing enough value.
Even within this set I think it's open to question whether this card provides more value than Lava Coil. Switching a colorless mana symbol for a white mana symbol should provide some obvious advantages, not just make you scratch your head about which set of limitations hurt less.
Well, nearly all playable creatures have bigger power than thoughness and generally, removal hits creatures. So I think it is comparable to assasin's touch (it is worse, but not as much as people suggests). Frankly, Lightning helix, which I think most can agree is the gold standard of Boros removal, kills less creatures (and ecspecially kills less creatures after the first few turns) but can go for the head instead (and gives a bit of life). I think that is quite comparable to this.

Helix is weak removal. It only has a niche case where it plays up in aggro vs aggro matchups. If you're not playing aggro yourself then you might be better off just using the Lightning Bolt.
In modern you can look at the Tron matchup and see that Assassin's Trophy kills Karn (or even an Urza land) while this does nothing. Playing against Jund - Trophy kills Tarmagoyf while this does nothing. Against Bogles - Trophy destroys Coronet while this does nothing.
This isn't even close to being comparable to Assassin's Trophy. It does enough to make Boros function properly in limited and it seems like you could probably use it in Standard until the next crappy removal card replaces it.
This isn't even close to being comparable to Assassin's Trophy.
No, it isn't. And nobody reasonable would expect a standard/draft uncommon to be comparable to a set's chase modern/eternal rare. "Draconic Roar!? This isn't even close to being comparable to Kolaghan's Command!" ... well, no duh.

I'm sure you didn't intend to make it personal. I hope you'll remember that there's a difference between calling a person unreasonable and calling their argument unreasonable.
If you're not sure what sort of comparison is being made you only need to ask. This card is weak compared to existing removal in Modern. It also seems weak compared to other turn two plays that could be made (e.g. SSG into Blood Moon) and it's definitely weak compared to what RW decks need from a Modern-useful answer card.
Other people are comparing Boros as a whole to Golgari as a whole. That's not my fight but I bet you can guess which side has my sympathies.
Nobody has suggested that this particular Boros uncommon deserves to be as good as the best Golgari card but that card does provide a point of reference that all past and future answer cards will be compared to. If you would still like to argue that Assassin's Trophy's rarity precludes using it here in this discussion then I would have to say that your argument is a little unreasonable.
Even comparing it to other Boros stuff, this is worse than Lightning Helix, while Assassin's Trophy is better than Decay and Pulse.
is it though? if I am sitting across from a TKS or Wurmcoil or a big Scooze or a Gurmag Angler or a Hollow One or Prime Time or Death's Shadow with a Helix instead of this, that's a bad time right there. I'm not saying it WILL be the new hottest thing, just that there are a number of matchups where this would be similar or higher impact than Path. and yes, I would rather have Path for Wurmcoil, but the rest, not usually

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Probably narrow for a Standard deck to use more than 1 or 2 though, even then...

Yes, much in the same way that it would help an opponent gain life if their creature had lifelink.
