MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
The funny thing is that you can kill people stone dead with a 2cc 1/1 with double strike anyway in plenty of formats without anything else tacked onto it. I've been playing a RW casual deck which randomly duped bloodrush critters onto Boros Swiftblade and Fencing Ace lately. The 2 toughness on the og Swiftblade is a huge deal, but getting a guy with trample to go with double strike is just going to be ridiculous.

"Masques Block is the worst block ever! There's not one decent card in there! The whole internet say's so, you're literally the only person who ever said it was good!" - random noob in a conversation with an Eldrazi.
Honestly, if we can get a 2/1 white or red mentor one drop, then an actual Boros curve can grow out from there. I expect to see a 2/1 soldier of some kind with just mentor as an upside, and that's honestly all we need. If it's monowhite and a knight? Then we can build out some cross block synergy. This has uses but it really depends on how well we can support it
Boors gets more volrton pieces. I like it, but it seems like boors is getting more of the same whereas other guilds are getting newer tech. Mentor though could make a limited beast.

Well, we got Goblin Banneret as our 1-drop mentor, but using it to mentor a 2-drop t3 screws up the curve. I think a straight up 2/1 mentor for 1 is probably not going to printed with the Goblin already there.
Hmm... I just thought of something fun for Limited, which shouldn't be too hard to pull off in draft.
Drop this turn two, follow it up on turn three with either Boros Challenger/Sunhome Stalwart + Maximum Velocity, then you get the mentor bonus and are bashing in for 7 turn three. Then next turn you can Jump Start Maximum Velocity or pump the Challenger for more Mentoring power to bash in for 9.
