So, Guildmages this time around require tapping? Mehh.
Honestly, my least favorite iteration of the Guildmages. Less splashable than Golgari Guildmage, and don't scales as well into lategame as Korozda Guildmage. Would rather prefer if they did (B/G)(B/G)(B/G) Guildmages this time around with a slightly bigger body instead of keeping them as Bears.
Also, considering the Golgari Swarm's Guildmage is called Swarm Guildmage, I wonderi if Dimir's Guildmage will be called "House Guildmage".
Is the tapping new with GRN?I feel like there were combos that revolves around activating both abilities of a guildmage... Also, not the most synergistic abilities.
arg why does it tap, its not a guildmage anymore, the abilities for the guildmages never had the tap thing, this is effectively a battlemage based off of past creatures like this printing.

I think this guy's okay. Both of his abilities are designed for the mid/late game, with his first ability made to be a finisher and his second ability created to stave off attacks/life loss until you stabilize the board. Nice little bear.
Most of these sound cool and all, but man, would Combine Guildmage and House Guildmage be weird.

What's the most resilient parasite? An idea.
A single idea from the human mind can build cities.
An idea can transform the world and rewrite all the rules...
Oof, I mean For the Swarm but there are a few things I'm not feeling with this card
Small thing: It feels like it's formatted backwards with the significantly more expensive ability on top
Bigger thing: Man I really wish that life gain abikity were something more impactful and generally useful. Non-incidental life gain without synergy is a pretty meh thing in Magic. I mean, Dimir's guildmage affects the board, it would have been cool if this guy's small ability did that or helped the guild's theme like the Dimir guildmage also does.

Ganger (there is a total of 3 guildmages that have the tap) and its ilk isn't related to ravnica and thronscape cycle does not have it I was wrong with that (there are only 2 battlemage cycles).
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.

Granger guildmage and thornscape battlemage would like a word.
