RL cards as masterpieces would only apeal for commander players ( aside from the good RL cards that sees play in legacy ). Saying this WotC could reprinting some of them to bust the sales of a set even if it isn't a card that has alot of value in the secundary market. I think that by this time they learned how to print masterpieces ( not print lots of value in them soo they are not the only cards with value on a set ). And if this is really true i will predict that when we start to get the ABU duals they will come split in sets, like 2 in every masterpiece series.
But ye, in 24 hours we will know for sure if this is fake.
Why would WOTC risk everything on eliminating the RL, when they have a perfectly viable solution in place?
From what i see this would just reinforce it, i mean, reprinting something in a masterpiece series is like adding 6000 (or less, maybe way less ) of that card in the market. By being completely open to collectors and having a slow reprint rate (3-4m) and only being able to reprint by this means they would not make prices of expensive cards to drop but rather just for a moment increase the amount of "currency" that are in the market. Investors would probably buy the masterpieces too cause they are special itens, have a premium format, are very limited, are easier to proof to be real, etc.
And again this will not make a impact unless wizards chose to not reprint more than 2 expensive RL cards at the same time imo.
idk if i like the idea of lotery tikets again but ye it would really help the sales.
The only legit reason to do masterpieces in a new Ravnica set is Masterpiece alpha duals. I doubt the legitimacy of the "leak", but having ABU duals in masterpiece form would be a crazy way of them to sell a lot of cardboard and would likely not affect card prices on the originals too much.
Everybody is rightly skeptical. This seems like an unlikely move, even it's the right one. The death of the reserve list is sorely needed, and I really resent the "I got mine, jack" attitude. I happen to own an Underground Sea, but I would be beyond delighted to see the price plummet to $20.
That's neither here nor there. Regardless of what you think about the much accursed list, it's probably not going anywhere, and this certainly wouldn't be the first fake "leak" that suggested otherwise. I seem to recall a similar one on April 1st of this year.
Edit: Read further. Already confirmed fake. Nobody is surprised. Everybody is ever so slightly disappointed. Legacy fails to stir in its coffin.
It's so fake that it hurts. Only way for them to even touch the reserved list is to not start making plans for using cards from it until after the announcement has been made. I.e. If they made the announcement today, we would not see any of the cards for at least one standard design period. That means 2 years for a standard legal set, and a full year for an auxiliary product. Anything less and they open themselves up for getting sued.
Note, policy can be changed easily, but acting on the changed policy before it being announced opens one up to getting ones pants sued off.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).
Edit: Haha, the motive is so transparent for doing this: Set out a realistic looking rumor that the reserved list will end soon, make gullible people panic sell their RL cards, buy those cards, profit. I hope nobody falls for this.
A bad plan if it were true; reprinting the valuable RL cards would do very little to the prices of the originals, and reprinting them as Masterpieces would do even less.

Ditto. I've got 12 Revised duals, and would love for their prices to plummet. I've also got a number of other RL cards that I paid good money for, and would have no issue if they were devalued.
Here's how you get Legacy/Vintage manabases to accessible levels: Print tri-color lands in a supplemental product (Conspiracy 3 or something) that are an upgrade on the original ABU duals. Land types and everything, so that they are fetchable. Or if Wizards think that they are too powerful, make them almost exactly like the original duals, but then give them an added ability like, "T, pay 1 life: Add [third color]."
Besides the duals, there are only a select number of other cards on the Reserved List that makes entry into either format prohibitive. With the new lands in print, the calls to abolish the Reserved List would go down substantially, giving the rest of us fewer headaches.
Make it happen, Wizards. Prove to us that you want to make a lot of money.
I will never understand PLAYERS who want to keep the Reserved List. Investors sure, but investors who don't play....hose them, by all means. the game doesn't need them. it's not about demanding things dirt cheap, it's about wanting access. Look at Imperial Recruiter, the original dropped what, $20? I don't need ABU duals, Power, etc. Would it be nice? sure! but if they were reprinted, if anything the originals would gain value because more people would come play Legacy if fetches and duals were about the same price, and some would want the classics. Look, Karn Liberated is the most expensive card i own, i have my Tron playset. I would LOVE to see him in Standard again. I would love to see KL as a $15 card, because not only could I get one more for EDH, but the 3 people at my LGS trying budget substitutes for him that leave them with no chance would be able to roll with me. I'd love to see the Elfball player be able to afford Karn, I love the Tron mirror, I'd love to see more people running it. I'm never selling my set, I don't CARE what TCG says it's worth, I pick up cards to play the game.

I bet you that the people that made the game and a lot of people close to them have a lot of original product and that is why the reserve list will never be rescinded. There would be nothing in it for them really.
