Cool card. I know all the evoke creatures are elementals, but I feel like this should have been an incarnation, or an avatar? I also wish the art was more epic. "THIS IS NIGHT!" it should scream, not "this is yet another generic, shadowy elemental creature that we probably pulled out of our archives of unused art." The Incarnation series, as well as many of the actual evoke creatures from Lorwyn, had much cooler and more thoughtful art.
Want for Duel Commander, solid otherwise. Reminds me of Bane of the Living, in a sense.

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).
Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.
That setting also doesn't look a bit like Lorwyn.... I wonder if Evoke is being used as a guild mechanic? Rakdos, maybe..?
I think Evoke may fit well on Innistrad or Amonkhet as well! With this picture just being a staircase in a corner, really this could belong on any of several planes. I can definitely see Rakdos evoking elementals as part of their self-sacrificing showmanship though.
Definitely want this for a few of my decks. Also gives me an excuse to break out my old Horde of Notions edh deck that I shamefully replaced with 5 color Dragons.
There has to be at least a couple castles in not!ScotIreland. We just didn't see them last time because we were too busy looking at people become nightmare versions of themselves.

There are castles in Lorwyn/Shadowmoor. Consult with Parapet Watchers' art.

What's the most resilient parasite? An idea.
A single idea from the human mind can build cities.
An idea can transform the world and rewrite all the rules...
I like the reintroduction of the evoke mechanic. I think there is still some design space with it and it's nice to see that WotC still can be creative with it.
I'm very disappointed in this card. It seems to fail on all levels.
1) Evoke is a neat keyword that has seen much commander play and creates interesting decisions. WOTC printed 2 variants - creatures with "enters the battlefield" and creatures with "leaves the battlefield," and the former was far stronger than the latter, with only one (often reprinted) combo piece of the latter type being memorable. So they had two options and chose the poorer of the two. The idea I need to lose this creature to do what I want is annoying.
2) This is too splashable. I know that on some "pushed" cards, fairness goes out the window, but all else being equal, a 3BB card can be more powerful than a 4B card, owing to it being slightly more difficult to play. Given the format, making it better would have been better. The same is true of "legendary."
3) -3/-3 seems like a pretty poor effect for the format, given that this is the format where people play stupid fat bombs on the regular.
4) Looks like someone forgot their Griselbrand lesson. (For reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHHg99hwQGY ) Why the heck is this a 3/4 for 5? How is anyone to remember that?
So, given we have flamekin on Ravnica, but they're not traditionally associated with the dark... maybe, just maybe, it's supposed to represent one turned to the Dimir side...
Not a Lorwyn one or even a Shadowmoor Cinder - it at least follows a totally different style guide and previous cards from those planes that were created new for supplemental sets fit the tone very well. I can see were there is discrepancy seen.
Shouldn't a flamekin/cinder have a class?
But maybe it'S a cinder gone "even further" with the flame sputtering out ans billowing smoke taking its place all over the body. Just a different concept than the name implies as well.
That setting also doesn't look a bit like Lorwyn.... I wonder if Evoke is being used as a guild mechanic? Rakdos, maybe..?
Well, it kills tokens, if they haven't gotten their anthems out. Though, strangely, it seems like it would have synergy with Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite as well. (Kill everything smaller than a Titan.)

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!

In supplemental sets mechanics aren't bound to the plane the were first made for.

The setting looks decidedly non-Lorwyn.

If it was in the Esper deck, it would probably have some land-synergy to really rub it in.
Finally a good white villain quote: "So, do I ever re-evaluate my life choices? Never, because I know what I'm doing is a righteous cause."
