Most of white's other iconic spells are either 1 drops that would be terrible with summoning sickness and without instant speed (Path, StP) or would seem too similar to magus of the disk (route, wrath of god, etc)

Fair, I just feel like Balance has such a stigma around it that I kind of doubted it. I'm excited to do stupid things with this card and Ghostway, or Teferi's Protection. (Assuming he survives a turn/has haste, which is probably going to be hard to do lmao).
This seems a bit weird to me given that it's namesake card is banned in the format that this product is printed for...I guess it being a creature with a more expensive tap ability will definitely make it more...balanced.
The discard ability on this card isn't as relevant as it was on the spell (anyone with a handful of cards has a good chance of having answers for a 2/2). This card simply punishes players who overextend on the board... and plays into some silly combos for one-sided board wipes.
Nah, their names would have been wonky. Magus of the Replenish? Doesn't work!
Could have been Magus of Plenitude.
And good call on Blazing Ragnarok, that is going to be so fun!
This version is...fair? 5 mana activation and all.

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).
Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.
We already have a blue one, Magus of the Mind, and this one is spells, not artifacts. Though I could see a red or green Magus of the Lotus, but it wouldn't be any good. It wouldn't be for 0.
Figured it'd be Balance. Not many iconic white spells (even as I can think of iconic white creatures, enchantments, or artifacts and lands that "feel" more white than any other color), and the ones that are, fall into one of four classes:
the "I really need to be an instant" class; this includes Angel's Mercy and really most damage prevention effects.
the "not really a good name" class, like Replenish.
That leaves Balance and what else? It's even the only white discard spell.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
I guess it's a bit better because it requires a lot more mana to pull off (more lands would likely be in play but you can just use mana rocks) but yeah. Being easier to recur can make for some really unfun situations and I'm kinda surprised this card will exist given that.
Now we only really need that Magus of the Eureka, and we're done with the cycle.
Magus of Eureka is a terrible name tho.
I'm willing to bet that last Magus will be based around Channel. I mean, it IS one of Green's most iconic spells.

That's probably doubtful since Hypergenesis was printed.
