Its not even a good Hydra commander since alot of Hydras are 0/0 and need to cast to give them their power....
Pretty sure this isn't a tribal Hydra Commander. It's a Jund Reanimator Commander that just happens to be a Hydra.
I mean they could have make it to be also be an Hydra commander. Its not even a good reaniamtor card, far too mutch restrictions on it.
What's with the obsession over "tribe X" commanders? Hydras aren't exactly herd animals.

I don’t think you understand what tribal is, besides sharing a creature type.
And by now, since you have posted the exact same comment on every card spoiled today, people understand that you don’t like the direction of this deck. It’s a shame they didn’t make it for you.

I dunno if I've seen a single positive comment you've made on any of these new cards, RedGauntlet. We aren't owed anything in particular, and I think WotC has hit it out of the park with all the old character throwbacks. Infinitely growing Hydra is a cool niche, and as the game goes on you can swing with your big guys that died. I think it's a cool design. If you don't, that's fine, don't play with it. I, at least, appreciate the new space this explores.
You din't look hard enough. i was positive on Windgrace's Judgment, Tawnos, Xantcha Nesting Dragon.
I have no problem witht he other cards i din't comment on and i like the Izzet deck overral. When they anounced a Lands Matter deck i was excited because is one of my favourite archtypes. And getting random cards that don't fill that archtype feels fake propaganda to me so i will be salty about it. Fine for you lot if you want to buy it since it fills you expectation but it din't fill mine and therefore won't get the product. Sorry for been a costumer and having diferent opinions in certain cards that don't apeal to me.
Yeah I was really hoping for some weird combination of Multani, Yavimaya's Avatar, Omnath, Locus of Rage, and The Gitrog Monster for the Jund "Land Matters" Commander. Not my favorite card by a stretch, especially because you have to exile your creatures from your graveyard and you can't even pick creatures from your opponent's graveyards.
Yeah, but it’s free Unearth, without the drawback of not getting around the exile clause. It’s also a 3/3 for 3 that just gets bigger every time it dies.
I like the mana cost/counter synergy. Can cast it cheap if you need to. Gets big if you have to pay a lot of Commander tax. Can still be cast for a lot even if you haven't had it die a lot. Very flexible design.
Kinda sad the reanimate ability doesn't even synergize with the token copier though. When Attack is after start of combat. I guess the colors don't match up either but it'd be a way to get around the exile clause.
Maybe it's to capitalize on any self-milling you will do to yourself with a Life from the Loam reprint? I dunno I guess its an interesting card in its own right.

There's Hydra Broodmaster that creates Hydras, but it's not a Legend.
Ok, compare that to any supported tribe that is 1/3rd of the casting cost, and doesn’t have a ridiculous mana activation. Having a tribal commander is great and all, but when the tribe is “fatties or bust”, it’s hard to balance it. Rosheen Meanderer is an excellent Hydra Commander, but how could you flavorfully slap that onto an actual Hydra?

Let's not go crazy. Prossh is still Prossh, but he'd rather combo off than be big and dumb. This is just finding incremental advantages over the game. Gyrus evens out whatever curve your hand is (because once you're past T3 he's vanilla test wherever you don't have a better play), stuff you wouldn't bother to revive normally is just value to use again (Sak Tribe Elder, Sad Robot (half a sad robot anyway), etc).
He's good but he's not Prossh good, not when Prossh is on point.

This is Commander. If I was building a Hydra deck, I'd use this as mine. It gives them access to more tools and I'd use the Hydras as the big Timmy plays, with ramp, black draw, and some red shenanigans. It's a fun format and this looks like a fun card for many decks, Hydras or not.
its strange, the theme fail aside, i still like this hydra
but it has to be your commander to be really good, but i kind of dont wanna build a commander around it, cause it is kind of boring
never had this feeling of "i want to play this card but i dont wanna build a deck around it" and just putting it into a deck is not good enough imo
That's kinda where I am too. It's good, there are ways to make it better but it isn't... fun.
You don't go 'think of all the possibilities' at it. It's just 'solid card.' Xantcha is a more narrow card, less scenarios where dropping her into the board is good... but you can really come up with fun things to do in that deck. Silly fun things.
I dunno if I've seen a single positive comment you've made on any of these new cards, RedGauntlet. amen to that *****, and not just specifically to the person you mention in your comment.I'm just so tired of all the overwhelmingly disappointed comments going around. Like people aren't even looking at the cards, they just see something that doesn't meet their expectations and instantly rate it a fail.
Imagine that a restaurant tells you that they have a new chicken dish. You get excited about it and you order it and you're really set on getting chicken because that's what you were told it was going to be. The dish comes out and it's fish. Do you not have grounds to be disappointed? And then imagine that the person at the next table over goes out of their way to tell you that you shouldn't be disappointed, eveb though the dish is definitely not the chicken you were told about. That person is all of you stating that people shouldn't be disappointed.
If you don't want to read disappointed comments, avoid them. Because WOTC is failing to deliver on what they said the deck was and people have good reason to be disappointed with that.

Imagine that same scenario, but you see the waiter coming over with your food. Now, you think you know what chicken looks like, and that is not it. Looks like... Maybe some sort of fish? You can only see part of the dish, and you haven't even tasted it yet, it's still halfway across the room, but you loudly start complaining to your dining companions that this isn't what you came here for.
Let's wait till we see the whole deck before we condemn it. I don't think they ever said we were getting multiple lands-matter Commanders. They just said this would be a lands-matter deck. Once we see the whole list and it does not cohesively care about lands, I'll agree with the complaints, that it was not what we were led to expect. But until then, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe a chunk of the cards they haven't shown are lands-matter. Maybe a majority of the reprints left are lands-matter. But there was no promise that all three Jund legends (or even 2 of the 3) would be lands-matter. Hell, they didn't need any of them to specifically be land-based at all, though people would probably have complained if that were the case. Let's wait till we have full lists before condemning, people.
Meh, a giant Hydra isn't really one to inspire loyalty in the corpses it dredges up and temporarily animates. I think it's flavorful that some corpse is pulled from the muck when Gyrus attacks, then it either shambles away afterwards or just sinks back into the quagmire. Gyrus don't care. Gyrus probably has limited sentience.

Don't bother, trust me. Most people here will defend every decision WOTC makes religiously. You're not allowed to be disappointed, even when WOTC disappoints you. My advice is, only buy what you want. I'm getting a few singles and passing on the decks this year. At least so far. We'll see if the Bant Enchantment deck delivers. But I have my doubts.
