I mean you're giving your opponent a 5/5, and three mana is a non-zero amount, plus even the player who controls Xantcha can activate the ability. Also I've never played legacy so I don't know.
The opponent can't attack you, the owner, with it in Legacy, so I wonder if her activated ability could be used to life drain the opponent and draw lots of cards.
This came totally out of the blue, but I love it all the more. It almost makes up for the painful absence of Serra.
Funny thing: Friends asked me last year which characters from Magic's past I'd most want to get cards. I answered: Urza, Xantcha and Jodah. Less than a year later, all of those came true. I'm beginning to think that Gleemax which is secretly in charge of WotC has been reading my mind...
I just feel a bit sad that due to Xantcha's ability I'll never actually be able to have her on my side of the battlefield. It would be so moving to see her and Urza side-by-side on the table.
I kinda hope Brand sees a reprint in one of the decks. If not, I can always use Homeward Path.
Well, Brand isn't on the reserved list, so there is always a chance.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).

I love the car design, but I got to say it doesn't fit her character. She absolutely attacked phyrexian, and helped rather than hurt Urza.
That's why she can't attack you or planeswalkers you control - basically, you're Urza (lucky you), and the opponent you give this to is the Phyrexians. She can hurt your opponents all day but she's loyal to you, so she won't attack you.

While this card is basically perfect in my eyes, my one complaint is that there isn't enough room for "Waste not, want not" as her flavortext.

I collect Legendary cards, Planeswalkers, and Sagas.
Current count of different Legends: 1314
Current count of different Planeswalkers: 213
Current count of different Sagas: 44
The flavor is spot on, even with cards that work well with her in heartstone <3
Xantcha has always been a personal favorite character, a favorite vanguard card to play, and in my pile of 60-card casual decks I still have a sleeper agent deck that runs darkest hour and light of day.
I'll pick one up to go with my worldgorger dragon edh deck, since she acts as another infinite-mana-sink similar to lyzolda, the blood witch, although to insta-win I'd have to kill & recast Xantcha to give her to someone else.
But I'll also have to make her a dedicated deck. Not sure if it will have all the referancing cards like unnerve and ill-gotten gains, but damn will it be fun.

Of course you should run unnerve. It hits all your opponents and will encourage them to use her activated ability.

Oh man, I loved the original Sleeper Agent and this one just adds more pepper to the pot.
Nice political backside, good stats, good flavour, another win here for Wizards.
They did an excellent design on this. Represents her extremely well. I'll even make a BR EDH deck with her as my commander and use fun things like Delirium, Kaervek's Purge and Backlash for fun. Emberwilde Djinn and Fickle Efreet have a home now!

Yeah, this design is great. Oddly enough, I just traded away my Sleeper Agent a week ago today, but this is a far more welcome card. Repeatable card draw and damage is awesome.
I love the pure chaos this will cause but i hate how far ahead itll put anyone else able to pay for the ability. Itll most likely end up as nothing more than a mana dump for infinite mana engines... but thats okay too
I wonder, would adding "and can't be sacrificed" (in the vein of Assault Suit) would be too much for this card?
Other than that little detail (that might be odd only to me), I am really enjoying this card
Considering how she dies, that would be a massive flavor fail.
How does she die?
Also, it's too bad it would be so hard to get an assault suit on her since she isn't ever under your control unless you do something weird.
During Urza's battle with the Yawgmoth Praetor Gix, Xantcha and Ratepe sacrificed themselves to disrupt the Phyrexian demon long enough for Urza to beat him.

Will this be one of the three foil cards in the deck? I really want a foil one to use as a commander.
I believe (based off the UR deck) that there are 3 commanders who are of the same colors as the face commander (including the face commander). So that's 3 jund commander cards in there and one off color commander.
Based on last year, the 3 foils will be the jund colored commander.
Which sucks because I think this is the best printed commander card so far and we won't be getting it in foil

I agree. I've always loved Xantcha as a character. I'm always looking for fun, new Rakdos commanders. We finally get one, and I can't get it in foil, which sucks because my decks are 100% foil.

If that deck sells well, Wizards will surely consider it for Commander Anthology 2019 or later and make us all pay for it. (More Legendaries are in foil in the Anthology)

Keep in mind that her owner is in Urza's position here. She drains her controller and attacks other enemies, so it looks like she fits the bill.

Loved playing a Sleeper Agent along with a Paralyze in the same turn via Dark Ritual. Hedge against it with a Wall of Essence and a Spirit Link for extra lolz.
