To me, Thantis represents the sweet spot between Pillow Fort and Voltron.
1. On the one hand, Thantis encourages you to load up on fog effects so that you won't be overrun by swarms (or simply killed by fatties when the spider is swatted by a kill spell).
2. On the other hand, Thantis will often be able to attack players with "shields down" (in a 4-player game, not everyone is going to drop a new creature each turn) and Thantis can easily grow big enough to take down players.
I don't think that the deck will be competitive but friends of mien have made cool Fumiko decks and I'm sure that an extra two colors will make the deck interesting. My only gripe is the anti-synergy that this deck has with other spiders (a generally defensive creature type).
True, if everyone is attacking, Thantis would go unblocked in most cases, and being vigilant it could still block at least one enemy, and a few more if equipment serves. Vanguard's Shield and Echo Circlet came to mind, perhaps more colored options are available.
No Mercy is another good option for a Thantis deck, with Grave Betrayal to beef up your army further, and use Death's Presence to keep your advantage. Perhaps I should start a thread to ponder on this further.
We also have dread for a budget and creature version of no mercy
I think this commander is a cool build around me card, but I do think that it doesn't feel exceptionally good or even mythic. It's an interesting card but I feel like it doesn't have the weight behind it to be somewhat decent.
I think the best way to build around it would be to play a deck with lots of removal and try to hold people back while you get them to fight each other...
But it's not really a group hug strategy at that point, and not in the best colors to do so. You're really just playing a guy who slowly gets big if people mess with you, and you need to have ways from them actually getting to you.
If anything it will be a fun commander to play politically as a test of how good your commander skills truly are.
I wish it did something like No Mercy or something a little more threatening.

Vigor that will allow your attackers and blockers (if any) to survive and grow bigger. Basilisk Collar would gain you a lot of life, and Blade of the Bloodchief swells you further.

Rarity doesn't mean the same thing in Commander products (and other non-standard non-modern precon deck products like Archenemy or Planechase), so mythic doesn't have to feel mythic here. As all mythic means is being a face card that can run the deck and printed in foil.
I do like the idea of a commander to test your politics though. That might be fun to try out.
Whelp, there's our Jund Spider legend. Not quite tribal like I was expecting, but your Spiders will still serve it well.
I feel like spiders are traditionally defensive with those 2/4, 3/5, 2/7 and such stats. He might have been pretty cool if if he only forced opponents to attack each turn.
