Ancient Stone Idol10 Artifact Creature — Golem {R}
Flash
This spell costs 1 less to cast for each attacking creature.
Trample
When Ancient Stone Idol dies, create a 6/12 colorless Construct artifact creature with trample.
12/12
Total side note but I like how people are discussing running this over itself.
Well, it has to be said that Kolaghan is clearly better than Kolaghan. Considering what BR decks usually want and how stiff the competition in this guild is, there is no way that I would run Kolaghan over Kolaghan! Kolaghan might make it in as the sixth guild card or so. Kolaghan on the other hand ranks several places below that.
It was so funny to me when they described this as a downgrade to the original Zurgo during the Pax East panel. I was thinking if this is a downgrade, they should really "downgrade" all legendary creatures. Haha.
My deck designing is quite concise at this point:
1. Come up with deck idea
2. Realize this idea is somehow fundamentally similar to another deck I have or that is commonly played in my group
3. Decide I don't want to disassemble one of my existing decks
4. Give up and do nothing
I don't see the point of this new shroud mechanic. It's strictly worse than Hexproof. Threshold is pretty bad too, Delirium is a much better mechanic and probably easier to activate.
Otherwise this card is a pretty neat guy. Dodges removal and grows into a Primal Huntbeast. 3/5
Not sure I get this mechanically, is it meant to be played as a blocker, or during combat as an attacker. If it's a defensive card, why does it have trample?

You play it during their combat step, kill their biggest thing (probably) and then swing back in next turn with your massive discounted blocker.
I wish this guy could block more than one creature though. I'm still definitely running it though.

It's dual purpose. Flash in, kill your biggest attacker, then 12 you on the crack-back.
If my understanding of the card and it's translation is right, you can also cast this during your own combat phase for a discount if you are attacking, especially with a bunch of creatures, and given it can create it's own token when it dies, it might go good in some kinds of token decks.

The translation is pretty accurate, so you got it right!
Interestingly, one of the artifact decks subtheme seems to be tokens. So the strategy you pointed should be quite viable in the deck
Offensively he has sort of Convoke in a sense that you can reduce his cost by the number of attacking creatures you control.
Defensively, he is a great bluff card because if you have, say 8 mana untapped your opponent might hesitate to attack with 2 creatures, but attack with only one.
This guy is a shoe in with Kruphix, God of Horizons.. All that extra mana you just progressively accrue, people don't think much of it until it suddenly turns into a 12/12 trampling golem

Assault — this spell costs 1 less to cast for each attacking creature...
Fun card overall, although at the end of the day I'm not sure a combat trick and one big beater with a smaller follow-up would still make the cut.
