She is wearing some form of eye shadow or paint. Card is sweet, nice call on it being Varchild. Beefy stats too, plus all around.
My buddy Jeremy may want that artifact for his partners deck, nice stuff.

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).
Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.
Good thing I already have too many EDH token decks, although this is still tempting...

What's the most resilient parasite? An idea.
A single idea from the human mind can build cities.
An idea can transform the world and rewrite all the rules...
Varchild has awesome flavor and ability. Your opponents could only use survivors to attack others if they fear you gain control of them later. I love creative commanders like this.
I honestly wouldn't ever blink varchild unless you are about to win.
The fact that you'll inherit the tokens you have already made is the only reason that other players won't block and/or use kill spells on it. You need a critical mass of survivors owned by other players for varchild to continue rampaging.

Pretty sure thats just the shadow of her helm. Definitely a sweet card, just not sure what I would do with her.
The retrofitter goes from 3 to 0. Not the only thing to like about this card.
If you're talking about the Baron, it goes from 4 to 0. The only numeral not present is 5.
Why do Survivor tokens make me want to include Lion's Eye Diamond, even if I'm running absolutely nothing that makes it go from zero to broken? Oh, yeah...

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
I am so stoked about Retrofitter Foundry: sac outlet, token generator, cog. So many interactions!
And please, please give us some thopter//servo double sided tokens that is not $10.
Or one could with Harmless Offering with it being a 50 cent card, in the same color for the same cost and not on your the reserve list.
I was using Donate as the archetypal example. Any control-granting effect that can affect enchantments will work.

Characters like Varchild getting their own cards is one of the biggest reasons I love the annual Commander products. Both her story and her design on this card made me immediately want to sit down and design an entire deck around her.
As someone who has Ryusei as a Commander and who has the plan revolving around Repercussion and the two Pro-Red Swords for the few non-fliers I want to survive, I think I've found the perfect token-generator. Rite of the Raging Storm is too slow and unreliable and Forbidden Orchard felt stupid in a mono-colored deck.
Swing for 5 (Sword equipped), then explode for 25 (or instant-death if I have any of the damage-doublers).
a) I activate her ability and copy it with the rings and get the next two spells cheaper?
b) I activate her ability and copy it with the rings and cast a spell before the rings resolve, so I get to cast two spells cheaper?
