Is there a precedent for artbook art used on a card? I would expect Wizards to try to avoid repetition, as it would feel kinda cheap.
If I remember correctly... there is totally none. All the Windgrace art known of is from his appearance in the Invasion cycle... and this is in the current quality style of Magic Arts, so pretty recent.
ps. Has anyone seen the supposed Elspeth art from the artbook too? If this is a practice moving on forward with the art books (spoiling arts for cards on a nearby release), would be neat~

Nice find. This does allows us to speculate a bit on the face Planeswalkers and their colors.
I think when it comes down to Lord Windgrace, R is a given, considering his card in the Planeswalker's Cycle from Planeshift. The art seems to suggest G as well, which wouldn't be too surprising. Maybe he's Jund colors?

And seriously now, Commodore Guff taking the white Oldwaker throwback Planeswalker card slot over Serra? *is reminded of C14* Oops...
Not sure if you know the context here, but the 'walkers depicted on this cycle were some of the Nine Titans (and this was pre-Mending, so no "oldwalker throwback"). By this point Serra was long-dead.
While it would be pretty awesome to get a Lord Windgrace card now (when I saw him on The Mending Of Dominaria I was thinking to myself that he's the only one on that card without, well, a card), I don't think one should jump the gun just because he is in the Dominaria artbook.
But I think there's a good chance that we'll be getting at least 2 oldwalkers. Hopefully one of them will be Windgrace.
I'm on the bandwagon that if he was printed, there'd be a good chance he'd be jund. More to fit how wizards handled last year's commander product (1 2 color, 2 3 colors, 1 5 color), but we won't see any correlating patterns until this year's commander set is revealed.

Bo Levar is a wash. He could be blue. Always seemed more red despite the blue togs and association with sailing, though.
Windgrace is probably black, due to being a Panther Warrior of Urborg, and probably either white or green due to his overall traits.
But the fact that we have not only one, not two, but three Red cards that portray Lord Windgrace? It does makes it far more likely than any other option. Plus, the only huge "miss" of the Planeswalker's cycle is Commodore Guff (Bo Levar is probably still partially Blue), so that's still a good ratio.
I would put Windgrace in Abzan colors. Green due to his nature as a pantherfolk, black due to his homeland of Urborg and white due to his role as self-appointed protector of Urborg.
I don't think that the red cards he appears on are necessarily an indication of his "base" colors. I mean Illuminate has a blue kicker, but he is probably not blue at all.
I would like to point out Freyalise was defo not monogreen in the stories and they printed her monogreen. I have a feeling they will just make them mono colour again....
Commander 2014 was a set of 5 monocolored decks. So the Planeswalker cards had this restriction.
With the new paradigm of 4 decks per set, they can be of any color combination. Last year we had a 5-color (Dragons), two 3-color (Vampires and Wizards) and a 2-color deck (Cats)
Why can't Windgrace be RGW? As a protector who grew to hate artifice, that makes the most sense to me. Just because his homeland became swampy doesn't mean he himself is black. Though I suppose with his being so closely tied to Urborg, it's inevitable some people are going to want him to be black.
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Would BRGW satisfy most of our expectations? I mean, if Windgrace fits four color, then why not? I think most of us can agree that blue is the one color that doesn't fit Windgrace particularly well.

Commander 2014 was a set of 5 monocolored decks. So the Planeswalker cards had this restriction.
There's also the fact that, with the OG 'walker-manders, they were designed bottom-up; WotC designed the abilities first, because they didn't even know if planeswalkers could work and be balanced as commanders, so they started with abilities they thought would be safest. The creative team only gave them recognisable names and faces when they realized that some of them fit. That's why we got, for example, Teferi, but the red one was someone new instead of Jaya Ballard.
This time around, though, WotC has experience with how to design 'walkers that can be your commander, and they know that we like it when they give new cards to old characters. They will likely be designing the 'walkers top-down, starting with characters who never got cards that the fans would like to see, and going from there. So it's much more likely that the colors of the decks will be based on the color identities of the characters, rather than the other way around.

Given how powerful old walkers were, I’d see the enchantments as part of their arsenal. Wild Research showed red and blue of Guff, he’s likely a Jeskai.
I would say that we are getting tricolored planeswalkers and 4 of them ( I thought I saw 4 decks). Here’s my theory:
A cycle of 3 colored walkers. However I’m unsure if we get wedges or shards. I’m leaning toward shards and here’s why. Although it Kind of doesn’t make sense we only got 4 decks but we get a Grixis Nicol Bolas walker in the Coreset who is kind of considered a commander (he flips anyway to a Planeswalker). I’m unsure how windgrace would fit allied (he’s seems more Azban to me than anything else) so maybe we will get wedges? But that leaves a question of which wedge will we not get! Lots of things to consider.

The Dominaria artbook features our beloved pantherfolk walker's pic in unmistakably PW art format.
After Freyalise and Teferi couple of years ago in C14, another oldwalker as a planeswalker general?

The Planeswalker's N cycle is a poor indicator of character color identities, at least part of the time. While Freyalise is green and Szat black, notoriously wacky, fourth-wall-breaking librarian/prankster Commodore Guff? Proooobably not white.
