This is all sorts of bonkers. It's decent removal in Standard, it's great in Commander, especially if you can increase the counters on it in any way. My Daretti might be able to use this. Bonus is that Sun Titan can get it back.
This will be an EDH house. Decks that lack creature removal (Green, Red to an extent) get an out for relatively low cost. Giving them a 2/4 is rough, but it's better than watching a Grave Titan or Consecrated Sphinx style on you.

You don't call "dying to removal" if the removal is more expensive in resources than the creature. If you have to spend BG (Abrupt Decay), or W + basic land (PtE) to remove a 1G, that is not "dying to removal". Strictly speaking Goyf dies to removal, but actually your removal is dying to Goyf.

So we're back to using destroy effects for these things? Strange.
Exile is just better execution/flavor because turning someone into an animal doesn't leave a corpse, they were just one thing and now they're another.
I will give this wording something - it adds an extra functionality in that you can just repeatedly target your own indestructible creature and generate tokens with this. If for some reason you want to.
Before anyone milks this card for all the puns it's worth, let me just say I have a bit of a beef of this card, and will not be cowed into silence, because I'm absolutely buffaloed by how this raises the steaks and maybe, just maybe, will steer the meta in the right direction.
@void_nothing: It's because exiling is worse than killing, gameplay-wise. You don't want unconditional exile on a colorless card for so cheap. I mean, completely eliminating someone from space-time costs 7.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!

I wouldn't call "exile but it leaves a 2-power body behind" unconditional.
Also, Scour from Existence is instant-speed and hits anything. The effects are not comparable at this scale.
Bottom line is the power level would not have been that badly affected by using the more powerful and flavorful form of removal, but at the end of the day I won't complain about any polymorphing effects because I love them.
because turning someone into an animal doesn't leave a corpse
How do you know? There are a lot of things you can do that leave corpses...
Because transmogrify is an actual real word, meaning to change or greatly alter something. Leaving a corpse wouldn't indicate something was changed into something else, but rather something replaced something else.

It is a bit weird that it uses the old template. My only thought here is that they 1) did not want to get rid of indestructible creatures (as it would cost too much), and 2) they wanted to trigger death triggers.
As one example: this has a very interesting interaction with Bontu, whereas if you exiled it would not.
