They're probably like the Angel and Demon from the Preacher series. It's that rule of forbidden fruit; because they can't be together, they're attracted to each other
The Church gave MtG enough trouble in the past where any signs of devil was forbidden and we couldn't have Gods as creatures, I wonder what they would say about an Angel/Demon ship?
What's the most resilient parasite? An idea.
A single idea from the human mind can build cities.
An idea can transform the world and rewrite all the rules...
Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
For example, I just can't understand why an Angel which job is to "redeem" people, would love a "unredeemed" demon.
There are many philosophies that would say that redemption comes through love.
Even more absurd is the demon viewpoint : if he doesn't want to get redeemed, why he should love somebody that wants to redeem people? It's like an anarchist would fall in love with a dictator or a tyrant, the thing it should hate most. It just doesn't make sense.
Love not making sense is an ancient trope, precisely because it's so common in the real world. We don't always get to choose who we love.
There are many ways you could view this; I suspect Wizards left the details deliberately ambiguous.
Maybe the Angel is slowly being corrupted by the Demon who is manipulating her.
Maybe the Demon is not redeemed yet - but is on the path there.
Maybe their love is bittersweet or irrational. Maybe Angels or Demons are just different on this plane - remember, we've already seen angels that are not exactly about purity or love, even in mono-white (Angel of the God-Pharaoh; Bruna, the Fading Light).
Maybe their titles are just hyperbole, like a wrestler named "the Bulldozer" who is not literally a piece of construction equipment.
Theoretically, nothing would stop WotC on making, let's say, fire-alligned Merfolks for example. But if would be feel wrong, even if in the world they choose to do it is a thing.
At the same time, I kinda see as an absurd oxymoron that an Angel and a Demon fell in love with each other. They are in complete anthitesis in nature, intents, wills, ideals. For example, I just can't understand why an Angel which job is to "redeem" people, would love a "unredeemed" demon. Even more absurd is the demon viewpoint : if he doesn't want to get redeemed, why he should love somebody that wants to redeem people? It's like an anarchist would fall in love with a dictator or a tyrant, the thing it should hate most. It just doesn't make sense.
Angels and Demons are a religious trope that comes from abramitic traditions...and there, angels are simbols of purity, obedience, love, while demons are rebels, corrupted, full of hatred. It's not an hyperbole, mine. Angels and Demons should really be some of the things with less compatibility of all spiritual/mythological beings that human mind could imagine. That's why it feels wrong the WotC twisting and perverting the tropes only for some kind of gratuitious "box-checking". The fact that this set isn't even with serious tones, make this union even more irritating and shallow.
I don't see a problem with Regna and Krav. Sometimes we long for those who're very different, either due to appreciating the differences, or because we admire those who are "better". Have you ever utter the phrase, "You're too good for me," Perhaps Krav loves Regna thus, worshiping her because he could never be as pure as her, which was why he said, "Show them the light, my love."
And, it is also possible that Krav was an angel before he fell, the relationship continued since.
Since we haven't heard Regna spoke, we don't know how she looks at this relationship yet, it could be romantic or a motherly/sibling love. If we get lore cards like with Dominaria, we might know more.
Can't wait for their kid, a legendary creature with an Angel/Demon type line. We have a Demon/Dragon (Malfegor). A demon version of the iconic creature types for each color would be hokey but I somehow want a Demon/Hydra and Demon/Sphinx.

Perhaps Krav loves Regna thus, worshiping her because he could never be as pure as her
But the point is, that if it's a demon, it shouldn't want to be pure in the first place. Or it wouldn't be a demon in the first place, a being incarnating the essence of black mana. The angel should find horriying the evil nature of the demon at the same time the Demon should find stupid and oppressing the white nature of the angel. That's why this all this "love" thing it's a joke and makes no sense in this context
Remember Yahenni, Undying Partisan? She is of black alignment like other aetherborn AND demons on her plane, but she thrived on the thrill-seeking, pleasure-seeking, creative and passionate side of the black category, and she is well capable of kindness. While white tends to be the love child of "goodness" in MtG, we also have Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite in the crowd showing the unforgiving, peer pressure, and blind believer side of white.
White and Black mana in MtG aren't the same as religious good-vs-evil edicts in real world Catholic, mana represents potential for certain "traits", not absolute characterization. In this case, Krav may very well be fascinated by Regna's innocence, and Regna seeing the arena as a way for Krav to vent his violence within context. Mind you, Krav's love could be very one-sided when he uttered the quote, where Regna doesn't necessary return it romantically.
And, it is also possible that Krav was an angel before he fell, the relationship continued since.
Well, even if that is true, it's like to say that Satan should still love God only because it actually loved him before its fall from heaven.
Don't you think that if Krav became a demon is exactly because he doesn't wanna hear nothing anymore of purity bull***** in the first place? That's why the way he admire her angel sounds completely nonsense. A demon shouldn't admire an angel. Because if so, it shouldn't had choose to became a demon in the first place.
Again, we need to be careful when comparing real world religious ideals with in-game ones, because Black/White of MtG have cases of both good and evil, enough blurry lines to allow an Angel/Demon relationship to happen.
Demons are fallen angels. So it's not as farfetched if their love existed before the other was turned?
Demons are fallen angels in real-world Abrahamic religions. That's not the case throughout the Magic multiverse. Many demons in Magic are creatures that arose spontaneously from black mana, or were created by planeswalkers.
Yes, I know that white and black aren't strictly "good" and "evil" in Magic world but some qualities are constants. For example, in white is constant the concept of Order and Purification. Which, even it's negative form of Elesh Norn (Dogma, Oppression and changing the other's nature against their will), still is in the white logic of law and order. Which is of course, in anti-thesis of what are black purposes, even in their "positive" senses.
Yes and no. When reading a character, one must look at the person itself, the situation s/he's in, and how resources available would render access to unforeseen result. While white and black have contradicting traits, it is possible to provide a direction/motivation to traditional characters where they would act towards the same goal, even if they use different approaches. For example, if the direction is to "exert control", both white and black has the potential and inclination to do it, Orzhov achieved this via "money" and "religion", combining unity under numbers and faith, and exert evil with it.
Therefore, even if a white character and a black character have different outlook in life in general, they could still become associates, similar to people of different ethnicities and religions decide to befriend one another. When you bond with people you look at similarities, not differences, and white and black in MtG have similarities aplenty.
The inchoerency is blatant, even in their titles. One is a redemeer, the other one doesn't want redemeeing. Now, why someone that doesn't what to get redeemed fall in love to a redeemer, that's a mistery to me. But I guess this is Magic and everything is possible, so I am expecting the magma merfolks at this point, for the sake of box-checking everything just to do box-checking.
Again, people bond with one another base on similarities, not differences. Even if person A and person B are vastly different, they could be friends simply because both like cooking or the same sports team. In Boston, you'd be surprised by how people of different religions, socioeconomic status, and career would hate each other on the street while cheering for Red Sox together in stadium.
We know VERY little about Regna/Krav thus far, so I'd recommend you stay your pitchfork and wait till we learn more about them. Besides, what you called check boxing is lore designers exploring possibilities, it's part of the creative process to attempt ideas outside of the box, best and worst ideas came from such, and it's foolish to assume it's a failure before we learn more from creators.
Considering that Chandra and Gideon were together at one point, it's not impossible for enemy color characters to get along.
For Regna and Krav, it could be that Krav, despite his black mana nature, did something surprisingly altruistic, causing Regna to see some good in him. For an Angel, that would have to be a profound discovery, and such "I didn't know you were capable of that" moments can in turn inspire feelings of fascination and attraction. See virtually any film ever where Alice thought Bob was just a self-absorbed jerk for the first half or so, only to discover that Bob really is a nice guy at heart and has his reasons for acting selfish, maybe because he'd been hurt in the past (see Zootopia for the first example that always pops into my head). Such moments of vulnerability and discovery create bonds, and often lead to romance where none existed before (though UST certainly helps push in that direction). Maybe Regna and Krav had a similar moment of discovery, where they realized they weren't so different after all and began looking past their nature as mana constructs. Regna decided not to be as judgmental as most Angels, and Krav decided not to be as cruel as most Demons (his ability certainly reads as one of the nicer Demon effects).
On the flip side, maybe Regna decided to help Krav, like by healing his wounds. Krav, confused by this action, asked Regna why she would do such a thing for a Demon like him. Maybe she saw that he deliberately avoided people, rather than seek their corruption and exploitation like so many of his kind, and that he was hunted by those who saw him as merely another Demon. Krav found Regna's kindness intriguing, and decided to keep her around as the first source of joy in his life.
On the other hand, it could just be a sad case of Krav manipulating and possibly corrupting Regna, Joker-and-Harley Quinn-style. The interaction between their abilities even suggests such, in that the life gain that triggers Regna's ability comes from the death of creatures at Krav's hands (and if you play them together, those same tokens can then end up being sacrificed by Krav to continue the cycle anew, making him stronger every time).
Krav: "Here you go, my love. Life energy, plucked fresh from the corpses of murderous criminals." Regna: "Why, thank you, Krav. I'll put it to good use."
Krav: "We both will, my love. We both will."
Why do I picture Krav sounding like Goliath from Disney's Gargoyles?
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.

Why do I picture Krav sounding like Goliath from Disney's Gargoyles?
Except... good and evil lovers are a common thing, angels and demons included. Like... this is a classic trope. If they were a Sphinx and a Hydra you'd have more of a case, though even that I could see justifications for.
I don't understand why Demons and Angels don't end up together more often TBH... Demons are paragons of black mana: they are selfish and without empathy for others taking whatever they can at any cost, while Angels, as paragons of white mana would strive for the benefit of all, even giving of themselves to better others. One takes impulsively, the other gives generously. It can very easily be believable as long as the Demon is satisfied with what the Angel provides and the Angel can justify or otherwise direct the Demon to use its selfishness for the greater good more often than not (see: Liliana being a 'good guy' despite being very black-aligned/selfish). Now, will it be a healthy relationship? Never. It is the definition of co-dependence. But co-dependent relationships of black and white type characters are very common in fiction as well as in life.

We don't know the details of what angels and demons on this plane are like, so why this hyperbole?
Is that "hit" by Sandler standards?
I like this. At worst, it's Inspiring Roar plus Falter (sorta).

I don't think either situation (especially given that the White Demon is multicolor) is worth outrage. It's like... all of one person here.
