So far the parter with cards are looking great, I'm liking the singer they have with each other.

Can you partner one of these with an existing partner like Tymna the Weaver? Is "partner with" a completely separate ability, because that's a bit confusing.

It's been confirmed that you can have two commanders with partner with, as long as they have partner with one another's names. So no Pir, Imaginative Rascal and Reyhan, Last of the Abzan, for instance, which is probably a good thing, because there are too many combinations to properly test and I guarantee something abuseable would have happened.

"Partner with" puts constraints on who it can partner with. No, it cannot partner with any legend other than the named one.

Partner With is a subset of "Partner" with two differences:
1. Partner with only allows them to both be the Commander with each other. So no, you cannot partner with Tymna the Weaver
2. The effect text of Partner With allowing someone to search their library for the partner after you cast one.

"Partner with" is a completely separate ability--just look at that reminder text. You can't partner them with any cards with "Partner".
Total side note but I like how people are discussing running this over itself.
Well, it has to be said that Kolaghan is clearly better than Kolaghan. Considering what BR decks usually want and how stiff the competition in this guild is, there is no way that I would run Kolaghan over Kolaghan! Kolaghan might make it in as the sixth guild card or so. Kolaghan on the other hand ranks several places below that.
It was so funny to me when they described this as a downgrade to the original Zurgo during the Pax East panel. I was thinking if this is a downgrade, they should really "downgrade" all legendary creatures. Haha.
My deck designing is quite concise at this point:
1. Come up with deck idea
2. Realize this idea is somehow fundamentally similar to another deck I have or that is commonly played in my group
3. Decide I don't want to disassemble one of my existing decks
4. Give up and do nothing
I don't see the point of this new shroud mechanic. It's strictly worse than Hexproof. Threshold is pretty bad too, Delirium is a much better mechanic and probably easier to activate.
Otherwise this card is a pretty neat guy. Dodges removal and grows into a Primal Huntbeast. 3/5
Azra refers to the Virgin Mary in Arabic. What are they thinking?
Doesn't it just refers to "normal" virgins, instead of referring specifically to Mary?
Thinking about it, it's fun that created a brand new race for their gaming world with e-sports references and called it "virgin".
Yes. Although she's the most prominent of them, which is why it's considered a religious name.

If we start getting into the etymology of everything, we are going to run into a lot of words that just don't fit without our Earth's very specific history. There's tons of words, names, and phrases that only exist because of religions, people, or events that don't exist or never happened in the MtG-verse. Like, why would anyone on Dominaria call something a "Voltaic" Key? Alessandro Volta never visited Dominaria, to my knowledge.
Regardless, I think Virtus could see a lot of play in black commander decks. Give him some kind of evasion and watch your opponents start politicking with you
A new creature type. Looks like a race. Looks like a Tiefling/Devilkin with a new name derived from the term "Asura".
Yeah I got that after seeing the other one in the other thread. When I saw Virtu the first time I saw the horns and that's what I thought but he looks nothing like the others.
I know they don't like to cross the streams but I think they should have gone with Tiefling. It would have been immediately resonant a pretty substantial portion of their audience and be no less of a barrier to those who aren't D&D players.
It's definitely a don't cross the streams thing. I kind of agree going with Tiefling would have been simpler. I guess Azra is shorter, so that's a plus? Makes it easier to fit. I'm glad to see them show up, though I wonder what the lore is on them exactly. Are they part Demon or Devil? Or something else?

I personally would have gone with outright Devil. I long thought having the creature type in both black/red would be neat and having more civilized/savage versions on different planes with a different color focus would be cool as well.
Tiefling etymologically being more or less directly derived from Devil helps, too.

Probably not a legal thing and more of a "Don't cross the streams" thing
